Frankly, it's a little absurd to complain about getting free stuff.
Then again, these are the same people who would complain that there was a $5 bill in their pack just because someone got a $10.
If you paid EXTRA to get into a helvault event, then I understand your disappointment at the contents, but then your store screwed you since this was a promotion from Wizards and the stores didn't have a pay a penny for the helvault.
This 1000%, both shops in my area kept the normal Prerelease price. We're getting more for the same amount of money. If your shop charged extra for the Helavault event, be pissed at them. Not at Wizards.
Would've been reaally bad if the one that the ebay jerk had cracked had been one of these. I can't even imagine the outrage if everyone was expecting foil judge promos and got a regular Helavault. That said, I'm going to a Prerelease tomorrow and will be happy regardless of what our Helavault contains. I'm going for the experience, anything above and beyond that is a bonus.
I already have a GW Humans, but I'm thinking of splashing a little red. If I can get my hands on a few Caverns and a Rootbound Crag or two it should work out..
I like this set for Constructed purposes, mostly because the GW Human deck I made a few months back got some new toys. Not sure how I feel about the drafting potential, I'll have to play it first. A few of my EDH decks might have gotten a some decent cards out of this, but more than anything I'm excited for my Humans.
Green blue infect anyone? This, Livewire Lash, Artful Dodge, your pump spells of choice. Gogo uber Glistener Elf. Why not hit someone for 15+ infect? There's no kill like overkill.
I like Bant Hexproof personally, it would be so hard to deal with. And 3 color decks aren't as mana intensive as they seem. I have an Esper deck that works great running nothing but a couple Evolving Wilds, 4 Drowned Catacombs, and 3 Glacial Fortresses. The rest is basic lands. You just have to watch how your colors are spread and plan your land count accordingly. The fact that Bant has access to green mana fixing like Birds of Paradise makes it even easier.
I like it, but right now I'm probably just gonna have them as a sideboard card in my GW Humans. Against another tribal deck it can end the game the turn it hits the board, otherwise I like Champion of the Lambhold better (with Mayor of Avabruck and Hamlet Captain she could easily be a 3/3 during my attack phase the turn she hits).
As for whether or not it's better than the Hero, that's up in the air. This doesn't even need to attack to end the game depending on the situation, but the Hero puts your opponent on a fast clock unless they deal with it immediately. I'd almost say they can't really be compared in a vacuum, it's too dependent on the situation.
Could be funny with that new aura, Dual Cast. Cheaper than Curse of Bloodletting but a little riskier. Priest of Urabrask and Infernal Plunge could help with the RRR. Dunno, I feel like either Boros or Naya would be the way to go. Regardless, this is definitely a fun "build around me" card. Will definitely be going in my Rith, the Awakener EDH.
Really like this card, will go great in my GW Humans.Gavony Township+Mikaeus, the Lunarch gets stupid enough as it is, with her it will really put it over the top. Just have to be able to dodge the removal, Faith's Shield should help with that though.
Loving this, so happy I got a suitable 4-drop to replace Hero of Bladehold in my GW Humans when it rotates out. Not a human, but neither is Angelic Overseer, so I guess it's T1-3 Humans T4-5 Angels. Replacing Mirran Crusader with the new Paladin, and Hero with this. Getting 2 rares to keep my FNM deck legal for another year and a half is fantastic. It might suffer a little bit, but on the other hand it could be a huge improvement. Hard to tell at this point.
Source? The rules text on the card suggests otherwise.
Basic logic? A pair is two, and two is a pair. The card says "ANOTHER UNPAIRED creature" implying that the creature with Soulbond must also be unpaired. If the article tomorrow says otherwise I'll admit that I was obviously wrong, but I will be extremely surprised. How stupid would that be with tokens? Increasing Devotion, I'm pairing all 10 tokens with my Paladin. Yeah...there's no way.
I'm figuring you can only pair two unpaired creatures. The reminder text says "You can pair this with another unpaired creature" which to me implies both have to be unpaired, due to the "another unpaired". Otherwise it could just say "You can pair this with another creature". Plus the fact that it says "pair" to begin with. If you have a pair of socks and add a third, you don't still just have 1 pair, right? Maybe I'm just overthinking it, but it seems really straightforward.
Hm, if their reasoning is correct and it does lower their actual rarity, just think about how much more expensive Wurmcoil Engine or Hero of Bladehold would be. No me gusta.
And if you put this in Solar Flare you just Unburial it back out. :3
That's the line of thinking I have going on. Go Esper. Have access to this guy, Heartless Summoning, Unburial Rites. Maybe run 2 of him, 2 Sphinxes, and 2 of the Demon that lets you draw (can't remember his name at the moment). Big flying beatsticks + card advantage. I like the idea of it at least.
