How about skipping the 5 drop and running Angel of Jubilation instead? This seems better than these 5-drop options, even with more token based strategies. Having access to over a dozen lords is nice.
This guy should see some play in Aggro Loam lists in Modern, maybe Legacy. His +1 is pretty solid with Loam/Retrace/Crusher/Goyf and it's not like that deck doesn't already require RRR for Seismic Assault.
I wouldn't mind hitting 2-3 perms with this after I ultimate Liliana of the Veil, since players can come back from Liliana ultimate fairly often. Plus Liliana works well with the "Stax" strategy that this card suggests.
This card is unfortunately, probably a turn slow, but I'll still try it. I'm a sucker for these types of cards. I love trying to break the symmetry or setting up board states where this is more advantageous for me.
Double red is bad, random discard is bad, -4 is bad... Y U no make him cost 3 and be decent???
So you're telling me that this scenario is bad for a t2 play?
T2: Play Tibalt, Draw, discard at random (when your hand is usually okay at best)
T3: Play a board sweeper or guy (or maybe flashback your Faithless Looting to sculpt your hand some more), draw, discard at random.
T4: Deal 4-6 damage to target player.
What other 2 drop in red has more impact on your hand and game in a positive way? Tibalt lets you dig deep, optimize your card quality, deal some damage to a player, and maybe win you the game. For RR.
I can't believe I'm going to say this. I feel dirty just typing it.
EDH staple. Unnngh.
It will probably only see play there. Otherwise, if I needed a red sweeper, I'd most likely rather have Pyroclasm, Whipflare, Slagstorm and even Blasphemous Act before this.
I wonder if this either has to do with a paper cube product (like others have mentioned) or if they are doing some sort of "Collector's Edition" with new artwork where cards would only be legal at certain level events (maybe everything up to GP/PT level events). It would be an easy way to reprint some of Magic's most powerful cards without hitting too much of the secondary market (since people will still need the real deal for higher level events). Of course it's pure speculation though; who knows what this is for. Hope it's sweet either way!
Sideboard options include some other 1-of curses like Curse of Echoes, Oblivion and Bloody Tome, along with some other basic SB stuff like Dismember, Surgical Extraction, Flashfreeze, etc.
What's actually the real tragedy is that people find 3 women consensually submitting to a goblin more offensive than other works that depict the torture and mutilation of human beings. And again, earthbind
And again, your rebuttal is a card that was printed almost 20 years ago? Earthbind would never see the light of day if that art was submitted today. Besides what are you even saying, if they deny this playmat, then they should recall every Earthbind and burn them?
The WotC of today has every right to control the brand how they see fit. Besides showing submissive soft core porn does nothing to further their brand nor does it have anything to do with Magic. The sooner everyone realizes that objectifying women is wrong the sooner we can encorage more women to join us for a game of Magic. Can you blame them for perpetuating this 90/10 split if they are commonly faced with people in the community sticking up for this trash?
That is awesome. If You like the spirit/arcane synergy I'd encourage You to give something like this a try. These type of decks are a lot of fun. If You do decide to try it let Me know how it goes for You.
I've only done a small amount of testing with this 1. I've been more focused on My Skyfire Kirin and Cloudhoof Kirin decks. This deck is surprisingly powerful and manages to sneak under the radar a lot. People really seem to underestimate the power of the whole spirit/arcane synergy.
Hollowhenge Spirit seems like a really good addition. I'll have to make a spot for it.
Sorry to ask, but how are you going to add Hollowhenge Spirit to a mono blue EDH deck?
Otherwise, the deck looks fun. You'll probably need some more big mill cards though, like Traumatize and Sanity Grinding. Also Twincast and other copy effects will do well with these big mill cards. Basically, I'd go with a few less Spirits (ones that are generally useless like Teardrop Kami) and go with some non-Arcane/non-Spirit mill spells. Besides, you're not always going to have the luxury of having Cloudhoof Kirin out.
To compound things even more, I pulled a foil Soul Seizer and a regular Soul Seizer in the same pack. Not that this is much different than a regular foil setup, but yeah it is possible.
basking rootwalla was good because of madness, not his pump ability.
True, but keeping mana open for a threat of activation is something that the Werewolf deck wants. Hence why Kessig Wolf Run is always good in a Werewolf deck. The deck doesn't want to play spells on key turns. (I know, stating the obvious)
Vault of the Archangel was an absolute beast. That card won every game it was played. Even if you have a subpar board, the card can just sneak out wins. Absolutely bonkers. Probably one of the best bombs in the set. Definitely better than Gavony Township or Kessig Wolf Run for a bomb land.
Predator Ooze was pretty solid too. It blocks forever and can break up clogged boards.
I faced Beguiler of Wills 3 times this weekend. It untapped in 2 of those games. Let's just say I lost those 2 games.
I agree with most, this is probably the best Increasing card in the set. It does dirty things with Seething Song and Past in Flames in Modern. And actually it works well with Fling since you don't have to sac multiple creatures (since sacrificing is part of the original cost to the spell). Can't wait to try it out.
Eon Hub seems like a match made in heaven for Karona, since it gets rid of the ability for other opponents to gain control of it. Plus it messes with the game state.
Plus any PW that makes tokens is ridiculous with this card. Speaking of which, Sorin, Lord of Innistrad and Elspeth Tirel aren't half bad with it.

Don't let the word "random" fool you.

Equipped creature has first strike.
Whenever equipped creature attacks, put a 4/4 white Angel creature token with flying onto the battlefield.
Equip ?
Looks kind of like Library of Alexandria to me.
