A while back, I decided to try altering cards, and was horrible at it, so I stopped. Recently, I decided I wanted to try again and get better this time. So, here's a basalt monolith I did for my EDH deck:
Sorry for the bad picture quality; my camera hates me.
And is, sadly, dominated by fast games where first person to get an infinite combo wins.
Do you even play modern? The majority of decks are aggro, midrange, and tron-based control, with the few combo decks either being hydrid-aggro or easy to ridiculously hate out.
Even if I don't have a way to capitalize on it, it goes in every red deck I make. Why? Because it's an instant-speed "uncounterable" armageddon. That cantrips. What's not to love?
I started out on magic by buying a duel deck to play with my brother... We misinterpreted the rules about mana and lands and thought that you have to tap your lands at the beginning of your turn, and that that mana last until your end of turn.
Needless to say, this lasted a few games, then we asked ourselves "wait... what about instants?" and re-read the rules.
Anteaters are such an underdeveloped tribe. So much potential.
In any case,

How are we doing decklists? I didn't see a resolution to that debate in my quick skim through the thread. Should I just PM mine in?
There is an exhaustive discussion on the topic in this thread. Some of the most powerful from the thread are (made with 40 cards) are:
15 Simian Spirit Guide
5 Serra's Sanctum
5 Opalescence
EDIT: Oh cool. 200th post

I don't know if I sourced this right, I can't find the original artist of the picture I referenced, or even where it came from.
