WARNING: The following thread is going to be highly offensive to almost everyone. If you don't want to read what is sure to be perceived as racist, sexist, homophobic, bigoted venting, than move along. If it's gonna spark an argument I don't want your views or your reply. Just move along.

I've lived in the West Coast and Pacific Northwest for most of my life...and God am I sick of it.

Now, I've got no family in the Bible Belt, no friends, no work lined up or even a place to stay, but I'm strongly considering throwing all of my resources towards making it happen anyway.

Call me bigoted, close minded, weak willed, yellow bellied, cowardly, gutless, whatever you wanna sling at me (I'm not so stupid as to realize I'm posting this in a 90% liberal forum and about 50% of you ignored my above disclaimer to move along because you like confrontation), but I'm just so sick of living in Blue States.

I'm tired of hearing about all the decrying of white people and Christians. I'm done talking to people about how racist all white people are, or how much men are the cause of all evil and rape culture, or how oppressive and privileged straight people are to homosexuals and transgendered people.

I'm done with the Bible Bashing, finished with the Man Hating, tired of the Straight Shaming.

I just want to move to the only region left in America where people can just be people, I can read my Bible in peace, register for a gun real easy to help defend my family from all the crazies in life, where men are respected and not vilified. And yes, where I can be near people who think like myself and don't give a damn about issues involving race, sex and religion, because we all feel the same way and those issues don't effect us and we don't want to care about them anymore.

Sure, that may be just because they are all mostly white, straight, Christian people. But that just sounds like paradise to me right now. And I don't care if it makes me sound bigoted, I want to be around people who agree with my world view so I don't have to be ashamed to be a white, straight Christian man anymore.

    Let the OP bashing begin.

Alternatively, if you happen to be someone like myself you can go ahead and reply with any nice places in the Bible Belt you would recommend. The more ingrained in religion, the better.

    Because your point is flawed.

People of all races born of families that sacrificed during the various Wars America has been in celebrate Veteran's Day. It's not limited to Whites, Blacks, Asians, Mexicans or what have you. It's an American celebration.

We don't have predominantly white holidays, and we don't need them. I'd rather we celebrate our holidays like they were meant to be celebrated, and not try to turn them into some sort of white nationalist thing that we should be ashamed of.

Christmas is a Christian thing, and there are more than just white Christians.

4th of July is an American thing, and there are more than just white Americans.

Thanksgiving is a family thing, and there are more than just white families that celebrate it every year.

The ONLY reason somebody could be trying to declare that these kinda of holidays are "white holidays" would be because they want to stand on a pulpit and decry racism when it's not even pertinent to the celebration everyone is trying to have.

It's like the extremist decrying rape culture while everyone's trying to enjoy Father's Day.

It's disrespectful to the heritage of American minority families to try and tell them that the various national holidays are "for White people". Moreover, it's just plain sad when I see people who've lost so much faith in a holiday that all they see is racism every time they get a federally granted day off of work or holiday pay.

America welcomes all of it's citizenry regardless of race to celebrate in our culture. That's just the reality of it.

  • posted a message on [TOC] Round 1, Match 12: Team "Aimbot" vs. Team "The Vampire Slayers"
I think based on the arguments laid out thus far my vote is gonna go to Team Aimbot.

When I imagine this battle playing out, I consider the following factors.

    1) The battle will start with ranged advantage definitely going to team Aimbot.

    2) Team Aimbot will not be able to camp, as the terrain states that certain locations heat up profusely after a period of time, so not only will Blade and Buffy have to constantly move to avoid arrows, but Aimbot will have to constantly move just to avoid getting scorched.

    3) Buffy and Blade have both displayed propensities to dodge arrows or bullets. So with all of the constant movement on their side, I think the ability dodge will eek out over the ability to aim.

    4) The rules of fictional character battle in entertainment dictate that this will eventually come to melee blows.

    5) Legolas and Buffy are the weak links here, at least comparatively. Hawkeye was trained in Hand to Hand combat by Captain America himself, and as his alter ego of Ronin he has proven to be able to make almost any item into a weapon, and shows particular proficiency with a katana.

    6) So I probably see this coming down to Blade Vs. Hawkeye and Buffy Vs. Legolas, so that the Whedonverse fans can cream themselves over Buffy Vs. A Life Action Bishonen. Without range on his side, Legolas probably goes down to Buffy's pretty kicks and sexy judo.

    7) But on Hawkeye's side, Blade might be able to match him in the martial arts department, but Hawkeye has the advantage of Blade having to come to him to close the range gap.

    8) Hawkeye can turn any item in the area into a weapon, but also knows that with Blade's accelerated healing factor there's no way he's gonna be able to kill him. So I see him Jackie Channing his way into giving just a split second of clearance enough to shoot off a trick arrow and incapacitate Blade.

    9) From there it comes down to Buffy Vs. Hawkeye. Hawkeye doesn't have the same Elvish vanity as his partner, and his time teaming with Black Widow will pretty much help him predict any trick Buffy can dish out. Hawkeye makes short work of Buffy.

    10) Thus, Team Aimbot wins.

    Quote from Baryonyx
Some interesting food for thought: what happens when you have a person who possesses a whole combination of these traits?

If they use their sacrifice as an excuse to do horrible things to people because of some horrible justification that "the justice system doesn't work" or "they needed to die or they wouldn't stop killing" then I still don't consider them a hero.

Dexter is pretty much my prime example. The fans of his show pretty much laud him as a hero and an amazing person because he kills killers. These people mask their guilt of watching fictional characters get tortured to death because they justify it in their minds that "they deserved it, eye for an eye and all that". Quite literally, because Dexter carefully constructs "killing rooms" fashioned after the manner in which those killers murdered their victims.

This kind of sociopathic "justice" is not what heroes do. It's what arrogant self righteous people do who think they know better than objective morality and thus commit murders and the sheep cheer.

Take this "Elric" person for example. He doesn't subdue the politician and submit him to some form of justice or even to the Nomads to follow their laws of justice against them, but rather, slaughters him for saying he was gonna kill people. Then, he slaughters the entire city council because they don't listen to his expectations of morality, because they state they are gonna kill people. Then he slaughters the entire citizenry, which I assume includes the boy that was held hostage because isn't he apart of the citizenry? Because "why not? All these people are evil in my eyes now, gotta protect those Nomads from anyone who has a slight penchant for violence through my own swift and brutal version of violence".

How many people did he potentially kill to save a tribe of Nomads? As many as there were Nomads? More? How much more?

It's almost the equivalent of "Do you let 1 murderer go free or have 100 innocents convicted" if you're answer to the question was "Nah, kill all of them, humanity is evil at it's core anyway and my idea of what's right and wrong is supreme".

I do not, under any circumstances, want children. I think having one would ruin my life and derail any plans I have for my future.

Moreover, I think many people who have had children probably shouldn't have because they aren't financially, personally or emotionally equipped to give that child the best life possible. I feel those people should have reached the same conclusion as I did: that despite what you want to do, if you can't provide a child with a good life, you're intentionally creating a person and setting them up for failure. This is not an easy world to live in, and I think bringing a new life into it and then putting obstacles in its path to a decent life is the ultimate example of hubris. Some people are so caught up in wanting to have a child that they don't stop to think if they should, and at the end of the day it's that innocent new life that suffers for it. It's a vanity project for some people.

    Bold emphasis mine.

This tells me otherwise, but to each their own. I've chosen to initiate some self deprecating passive aggressiveness in order to keep this debate as light hearted as possible. Because my real feelings on the subject would probably get me infracted.

I am sad because I thought this would be an interesting thread about what you would do if you were a super hero for a day.

But alas, it's a mental exercise comparing world views on what makes a hero in the first place. Oh well.

    Misleading title is misleading.

On topic, a hero is anyone who is willing to give of themselves in order to obtain a greater good in society. Whether it's putting themselves in danger, leaving the comforts of home to complete a great journey that will save the world, taking up a second identity in order to fight crime or otherwise using your ability to affect change in a way that is wholly positive.

So anti-heroes that murder or maim their enemies by following their own abject moral code of justice are not heroes. Dexter, or The Punisher, or Spawn are not heroes. They are men with an agenda of vengeance who just happen to be fighting bad guys so it makes the audience feel less guilty about what they do to others.

I have one child, 7 weeks old on Monday.

And no, he was not planned, nor do I have $300,000 saved up specifically to cover every little cost one could possibly imagine for child rearing. Nor would I imagine that anyone but the most upper middle class or rich could even save that much money in the first place solely for the rearing of a child.

So, I apologize ahead of time for apparently breeding a child that has no chance at ever living a happy life because I wasn't rich enough to be able to cater to his every need from Age 0 to 25 right off the bat. Forgive me.

Regardless of that, I believe it to be the most amazing experience in the world. And so long as you actually plan on raising them right and giving a damn about teaching them to be a good person in life than you should be free to experience it if you so choose.

There's too many parents nowadays that don't give a damn about their child and just let them do whatever, or want to be their "friend" more than their parent. And that just ruins kids. I hope to be apart of a generation of parents who will see the insanity of todays children and work towards making a better generation built on honesty, generosity, humility and courage.

Considering there are some people who believed that the Flash would instantly turn Captain America and Gideon Jura to stone just because to win a single fight rather than try to fight them fairly or respect the fact that they are good guys as well, I'm pretty sure there are a few people in these forums who believe all super heroes to just be sociopaths waiting for the right moment to go rogue and kill everything in sight. lol.

I'm gonna have to concur with Tomcats argument here.

Nowhere in the Bible is there a literal statement that says explicitly

"You should not rape anyone who refuse your advances".

Therefore from a Biblical standpoint, you cannot condemn rapists anymore, because the Bible doesn't explicitly state that Rape is not OK if they refused your advances.

Show me chapter and verse anywhere in the bible where it says exactly word for word that You should not rape anyone who refuse your advances.

If you can't do it, than Rape is OK according to the Bible. Because I don't have to prove that the Bible DOES say Rape is OK, because absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.

    My argument is infallible.

    Have a nice day.

Ephesians' quite clearly means that a man is leaving his mother and father to join as one with a wife.

It doesn't say "This man is leaving his mother and father, and may or may not have a wife, who may be another man who has also left his mother and father, but they should still treat his significant other respectfully regardless if they are in a marriage or not".

The entire passage is about marriage, whether the word marriage is said or not.

Any claims to the contrary is just you being obtuse.

It's precisely as the above poster states. If you're going to be so obtuse as to say that "The Bible never says specifically word for word that Marriage means one man, one woman" than I guess that makes it OK for the KKK to go "The Bible never says specifically word for word that we should not hang black people from trees and set them on fire, so it's perfectly OK for us to do it!"

Congratulations, you just set a precedent for racists to kill black people!

So yes, I have reported your post.

Because you've been proven wrong so succinctly, definitely and convincingly that you continuing this debate is merely trolling and needs to be dealt with. You're wrong, and to continue to act as if you're not wrong is a slap in the face of your faith.

Continuing down this path will make you no better than those white trash rednecks who can't even read the Bible and yet use it to mask their own bigotry.

    Infraction for flaming.

    This is still going on?

Here's let's make this short and simple.

Has Feminism ended inequality between men and women in America?

If the answer is no, regardless if you feel that Feminism "Hasn't done enough" or "Has done too much" in tipping the scales one way or the other, then Feminism has failed.

    End of story.

Will it succeed later on down the road? Not likely. Considering Feminism is doing such a horrible job of spreading it's message that it's causing men to start forming their own Rights Advocacy Groups due to how much new feminists are spewing vehement hatred of men, I don't think equality will ever be 100% possible.

Wow this is what happens whe people vote without knowing the people in question.

Buffy is NOT a non-factor she can handle legolas with her hands tied behind her back quite literally.
Blade is also insanely powerful and fights marvel heroes all the time.

This is a win for the vampire slayers.

If you can spell it out for me how Buffy is able to hold her own in this battle, than I may consider voting for the Slayers. Because as I see right now Hawkeye and Blade are the badasses of the group while I know nothing of Buffy's abilities and Legolas is only benefiting from sharing the tech with Hawkeye for his own marksmanship.

    Ephesians 5:

31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.

32 This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.

33 Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife [see] that she reverence [her] husband.

Bold emphasis, mine. To emphasis every instance of the word his and her when we are talking obviously about a husband and wife.

You said you would gladly concede the argument if someone could show you exact biblical chapter and verse that states that Marriage is between a man and a woman. I've done that for you, in King James version, the one that Mormons accept and defend as THE accurate translation. So now would be the time to gracefully bow out and be a man of true integrity lest you further damage our faith with your stubbornness.

Unless of course, now you will try to sell me a bill of goods that says that when Ephesians is talking about a Man leaving his mother and father to become one flesh with his WIFE, that we talking about something completely different than Marriage because the SPECIFIC word isn't said.

In which case I'll warn you ahead of time, I will be reporting your next post. As you would be proven as just trolling at that point and not interested in actually having a serious and honest biblical discussion.

    So please, tread carefully.
