Wow, sure looks like 90% of the people posting in this thread don't have a clue with what happened even though a lot of the info is out there now.

If you want a ton more info (generalized and to the point) go check the most recent MTG Focus podcast where someone who was hit with a 3year ban tells you his side and then follows it all up with an interview with a WotC official.

It's really, really scary what WotC is doing. Basically, you CAN NOT post MTG cards that aren't already released in sets (yes, even no fake cards if they are anything close to resembling something that could be real) or risk ~3 YEAR bans. WotC want you to not only vet your sources of said image (no matter where you find it, facebook/twitter/instagram/etc.) BUT, you need to search the internet and research the info/image yourself to make sure it isn't a spoiler. And yeah, don't try posting it and then reporting it to WotC because you could easily still get hit with a 3year ban... *mind blown.

I thought we were in an age of getting rid of bullies? Because basically, WotC is bullying everyone and anything (especially a site like this) with huge bans for posting OR REPOSTING anything spoilish what-so-ever. Instead of taking responsibility themselves (for leaks), WotC is attempting to force anyone who wants to continue to play their game into being anti-spoiler backyard heroes. It's bullying at it's finest... and very naive in today's information age. I'm really surprised more peeps running this site haven't come out with statements.

Holy crap, looks like everyone is sleeeeping on this Nissa.

This card will see more play in Standard than Liliana of the Veil did during her run. I'll bet money on it and will - have had an amazing run in speculation in the last ~18months for what it's worth. Unfortunately the margin for PW profits is usually small but hey the last Jace started pretty low and never would have guessed that.

I don't think she's as obvious as Jace, Vryn's Prodigy was but this is a premier 3drop G PW. Her ultimate is really, really strong. Everything else is solid with synergies with Gideon/other popular decks being HUGE.

With that said, she won't surpass Liliana in Modern of course as like someone mentioned above her windup is a touch slow. Nevertheless, she's definitely worth testing in a few shells there too.

On a side note, don't underestimate the power of a straight 3cc PW in Green. Can you image if we somehow got a mana dork back? Domri Rade taught us the power of a 3cc PW on turn 2.

Battle lands is at least better than that *****ty tango term that some people seem to adore. As for whether this is real or not, we'll just wait. I think it's real because of the mana symbol but it's difficult to know for sure. These would be nice to have as what other lands are worthy of being full art.

At least Tango-land makes sense. I don't understand why these are "battle" like at all.

My group just calls them slow duals, for what it is worth.

Yup, peeps be over-thinking and trying to be smart with not using the phrase "slow lands"... it's so obvious and descriptive.

With that said, "discount double check" mentioned above is brilliant. Actually just "double check" is a billion times better than "battle" too.

That art looks sooooooooooooooooooooooo fake. IF somehow it is real, worst art of the expedition cycle by FAR.

Also IF real then all that's left is a 5card land cycle to bring the total to 20 for Oath (10 filter + 5 new "battle lands") and thus no 10 man-land cycle which seems odd. And VERY convenient with the <> symbol with many still believing <> does NOT equal colorless/generic.

I can't believe so many STILL think <> is colorless/generic mana.

There's no possible way they would print a BASIC land which has funny looking mana producing full art staring you in the face and then go and retroactively change all generic/colorless mana producing cards to "<>". NOT ONLY does that still effectively add another mana symbol (aka purple mana), but that complicates it even more than just having a 6th color (purple mana).

At this point, it seems like many are trying too hard to be smart instead of looking at the plausible explanation staring you in the face. It's more likely that there is a 3rd option (something we can't speculate on because of incomplete information) than a complicated option involving retroactively changing cards yet still having a conditional cost as explained above.

Kozilek is super pushed (& the new rare land) too if you hard cast it for 10 so it stands to reason that it would require a specific type of mana of which isn't 8colorless + 2 "strickly colorless" (that's so much of a mouthful... no way WotC is going to do that) instead of just 8colorless + 2 new types of mana.

Dave and Adams always have great MTG sales and probably had the best deals this year. Fat packs at ~$16 shipped is insane even if it is Dragon's Maze. Nice they had Conspiracy down to $60 again too... they ran those at that price a few times during their daily deals.

Yeah, I don't think I've EVER ordered sealed product from T&T... they always have insane shipping especially on Black Friday.

    So the options are:

    - <> is a sixth type of mana.
    - <> means explicitly colorless mana.

Both seem possible at the moment. Can't wait to see a tiebreaker spoiler.
The top one is most backwards compatible, parasitic, and limited to a single set.

    No.

<> is a sixth type of mana or we wouldn't have a new type of basic. So many are over-thinking things in this thread. Stop trying to be smart and use common sense.

How would it be parasitic? They are satisfying a demand from EDH players for a basic land they can run 20 of in their colorless edh deck. In order to also make it work within the standard environment, and the block, they make it some cards with specific requirements for <>. I wouldn't be surprised if the <> is used very frequently going forward, to keep colorless artifacts 'honest'. It gives WOTC an excuse to produce prodigious amounts of basic and non-basic lands so that <> producing lands don't become prohibitively expensive.

It is a land type that any deck can use, the most obvious example being, of course, the modern Tron deck.
We could see many many uses going forward, such as a generic (t): add (U) or (t): add <><>.
They wanted to make something for EDH, yet integrate it into the whole Zendikar theme, while further making it possible for modern and legacy/vintage able to use it. It is far from parasitic. I doubt this block will be the only time we'll see it. If it is, save your Wastes, because they are going to be the new Serum Visions/Remand when EDH supply starts getting low.
cause you wouldnt be able to cast OGW stuff without those specific OGW lands
thats the definition of a parasitic mechanic
    just like splice onto arcane

With that logic, all five colors are "parasitic" and colorless/generic mana isn't.

THIS IS "PURPLE" MANA, FOLKS! It's only been rumored since circa 1996... 20 years later and it happens. I'm ready :).

These are going to crash HARD in price for three reasons:

    1) Every year these are produced in higher quantities
    2) Commander demand isn't that high... even the first run Commander decks sat on shelves for months (outside of the one with Counterflux). It wasn't until the supply FINALLY started drying up that they skyrocketed in price.
    3) There are no or very, very few eternal playables. And thus see #1/#2 as commander demand is most certainly not going to pay $20+ enough to clear out big vendor outlets like Walmart/etc.

WotC dropped the ball in not including any eternal playables. I'd expect to see these in clearance bins online/etc. for ~$15 in the not too long future.

In ~3 months, you will be able to get all these @ ~$10 each when big vendors slash the hell out of them... tread lightly.

Could this be a combo in Legacy with Enter the Infinite? You have Faithless Looting to help enable it...

Seems better with Control of the Court.

Quick, someone buy them all out ;).

    LOL, sounds like Liberal nonsense.

MTG is an EXPERIENCE... ie entertainment. If you had a "good time" (which you better be having or you should probably look into spending your time elsewhere) then say good game and let your opponent know it was FUN. Now saying "bad game" would be insulting and show the lack of respect you had for your opponent or the time/interaction you had between each other.

It's just not good enough to be a tier 1.0 or even a tier 1.5 deck imo.

Despite playing so many draw card the deck is still not consistent. Against the tier 1.0 deck you only have a winning chance if you play tutelage on turn 3 or 4. Turn 5 is already a huge uphill battle. So on top of bad hands, floods and screws you also have tutelage inconsistencies.

And even when you play it on turn 3 I don't think you have a huge chance against the field. Tutelage is pretty good against control match ups but does not play well against Jeskai, Atarkar and any GW deck. And those together are more then 90% of the competitive scene so...

Finally, the deck is easily hated out by enchantment hate from the SB.

    Not true, really.

The FIRST deck I saw that took down a State's tournament (New Jersey) was a Tutelage mill deck. No matter how weak the field, in a big field like states you aren't going to take down first unless you can compete with tier 1.

The issue is people just don't want to play the deck. The deck actually has legs... But we need more than peeps playing it to 4-0 at FNM to open eyes. I was surprised Majors dropped the deck so quickly after absolutely dominating the GP pre-rotation.

"Despite playing so many draw card the deck is still not consistent. Against the tier 1.0 deck you only have a winning chance if you play tutelage on turn 3 or 4. Turn 5 is already a huge uphill battle. So on top of bad hands, floods and screws you also have tutelage inconsistencies."

And not to pick on you, but this doesn't sound like Tutelage mill AT ALL. It hardly ever mulligans and yeah draws so well with all the card-draw/manipulation like you mentioned. Even a turn 6 Tutelage isn't the end of the world. You pretty much win when you untap and sometimes can go off when you play Tutelage. It's fast, consistent, and pretty much only loses to hyper-aggro of which isn't prevalent in the meta right now. There's a reason it pretty much went undefeated at the GP pre-rotation and it wasn't astronomical luck. Obviously I'm not saying the deck is the end-all/be-all, but it's very real and more consistent than many other widespread top decks especially as you have zero mana concerns in the 2color builds.

Dromoka's Command is exactly what happened to Tutelage.

LOL, no. Yet another misconception. Did you not see how many times Majors destroyed decks with main-deck Dromoka's Command in the 12+ rounds of the GP pre-rotation? Tutelage has counterspells in SB and sometimes main-deck (it is half blue). Not to mention you combo off pretty fast.

The guy who won the Pro Tour was Calcano's draw. AND Calcano would have easily have beat him and thus gotten into the top8 if not for Takimura's slow play on multiple occasions. It was VERY frustrating to watch. Anafenza, the Foremost hurts this deck quite a bit and Calcano still beat it in game1 with a well timed Sidisi's Faithful.

Yeah, I really don't think this deck can be hated out when you can deal with Anafenza pre-sideboard and have access to a ton of flexible stuff like removal/counterspells with U/B in sideboard. I also agree it's tier 1 or very, very close so it's always nice to have more alternatives to play... the deck itself looks like a blast to play too.

I'm just disappointed Calcano didn't top8 and his opponent who he drew with did. His opponent played really, really slow a few turns and Calcano would have won that third game. Oh, well. Yeah supposedly the UB Aristocrats had 6 of it's 8 pilots make day2 so it's definitely real and doesn't seem likely to be hated out.

Oh and pretty sure I saw Negate and Disdainful Stroke from Calcano yesterday so those are at least 2 of his sideboard cards.
