Working on it right now:nod:
Anybody knows if there is a way that i can view how my post looks without posting it here?
Would be nice to know if the image-stuff works and the headline has the right size.
In the Technical Support section, there is a Testing Grounds sub-forum. You should try it out there.
BTE don't ''die'' to bolt. You use them the turn you want to Nykthos.
They bolt? Simply tap Nykthos with the free mana in response..
I don't get along with the rules too well, but I have had people bolt my Burning-Tree Emissary in response to me activating my Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx. They told me that it has something to do with them getting priority... And I don't get the devotion mana from Emissary.
Something else I've been pondering over is whether or not I could stretch my mana base into a Naya assortment allowing more sideboard options, without getting too inconsistent with my land draws. A full set of Verdant Catacombs, and 2 each of Stomping Ground and Temple Garden might do it. Perhaps a couple Misty Rainforest for good measure. Both colors offer up interesting sideboarding options, but I have yet to see anyone attempt a GRW color scheme as opposed to just splashing R or W.
One of the decks strengths I think has been it's very basic land structure. I'm not sure if this would disrupt that consistency too much, or not, but I'm going to dabble with it a little at some point.
Out of curiosity what sideboard options do you feel that white offers? My sideboard is pretty well filled up and I think it takes care of (most) match-ups fairly well. If burn is the match up that you would like white for, I have found that if you resolve a Primal Command to gain 7 and get an Eternal Witness, they have a hard time winning.
I would say the best card today was by far Summoner's Pact.
Not a single Genesis Wave.. guess I might remove them because they ain't needed to win.
Dega is an easy Match Up.
Splinter Twin is impossible.
I have 2 Pithing Needles in my sideboard that get pretty good value against Splinter Twin (your sideboard Beast Withins should have been good if you had seen them) I find in my limited matches against Twin, I end up siding out the Genesis Waves to go the Eternal Witness / Primal Command route. If you have a Garruk Wildspeaker out when you get that loop set up, you pretty much win 4 turns later. (Early on in testing, Mistcutter Hydra performed well against Twin but didn't stop them from going off so you would lose some if they did have the combo.)
I am also curious how not having any mana producers in the 2-drop slot goes for people trying the Genesis Wave version? I have some Overgrown Battlement that get good value with the 2(?) Carved Caryatid I play (but not being able to attack has lost me some games).
Lastly, for people who run Beast Within in their sideboard; do you find yourself destroying anything other than artifacts/enchantments or the occasional tron land? I used to play these, but took them out for Nature's Claim because I found myself really only getting artifacts/enchantments...
If you're playing Tooth with Craterhoofs, I'm almost completely sure that the correct Tooth is for Hoof and Phyrexian Metamorph instead of two Hoofs.
I am not a rules guy, but wouldn't the Craterhoof Behemoth and Phyrexian Metamorph enter the battlefield at the same time, which would not allow you to copy Craterhoof with your Metamorph?
I am by no means an expert, I have tried this out on ~10 cards and just don't like the feel of them.
I don't know that I can really answer any of your questions too well, but this thread looked sad with no replies...
My only advice is to make sure you don't need the cards, I taped these swamps to my window for probably 8 months to a year? (But to be honest, I forgot they were there...)
50% isn't a very good chance. Besides, even if you do get a Strangleroot Geist and a Forest onto the battlefield, it still isn't a very good deal for 5 mana when you could have used it later for a lot more.
I never said it would be game-winning to cast it, but sometimes you have access to 5 mana and something like a Terastodon in your hand. Getting that out on turn 4 can win some games, and casting wave for 5 on turn 3 can help get you there.
I personally haven't tried Tooth and Nail, but it does seem pretty perfect for this deck. I am planning on testing Primal Command in place of the Genesis Waves here next week, maybe I will look into Tooth and Nail after that.
And who casts Genesis Wave for 5 mana anyways? That would only put 2 cards on the battlefield at best and probably closer to 1.
Genesis Waveing for 2 isn't as bad as it sounds. Sure you miss out on the big cards you play (titan/craterhoof/emrakul/whatever) but in my deck there are only 8 instant/sorcery spells and 10 permanents with CMC 3 or greater. If I wave for 2 I got a pretty good chance of getting 2 cards on to the battlefield (around 50% I believe?).
I like to Wave for 6, so that I can hit a Primeval Titan, but sometimes you just can't wait to get up to 9 mana.
It seems to me that if you don't get a Weathered Wayfarer or Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx in your opening hand you are pretty much sunk. I am a fan of playing Knight of the White Orchid in a mono-white deck, but I don't know how much it would help the lock-down strategy...
If your Devoted Druid gets killed then you can use the Evolution Charm, it also lets you thin your deck if you find yourself needing to do something on turn 2.
This deck adds up to $4.88, which gets it in the under $5. It could be competitive with other under $5 decks... (you have to get creative with some sets to get the costs down, like Wood Elves from 8th and Lead the Stampede from MBS)
I played against someone on MWS that was playing a Wildfire deck, then were playing Green/Red though. I got in 3 games, so I have an idea how their general framework goes:
I am not sure about the rest of their deck, some fatties like Gaea's Revenge and maybe Primeval Titan. It was a pretty interesting deck and I didn't have to much to sideboard in against it (I was mono-green). I feel that the deck just loses to a counterspell though?
I don't know if Crack the Earth can fit into a deck like this, but it would be a good T1 play if you are on the draw...
The wooden boxes seem pretty neat, I would think that selling them would be the hard part. Maybe you can try and contact someone like Liefkicker who used (I dunno if they still do) to make custom boxes (for reference: http://forums.mtgsalvation.com/showthread.php?t=357002)
You can also check around in the cube forum, as some of those guys have custom boxes made for their cube.
Out of curiosity, what are the hidden compartments in the lids for? I can't tell if they are big enough for dice/counters.
I feel my opponents have taken advantage of my poor rules knowledge, this is good to know; thanks.

Stony Silence
Damping Matrix
(You can ignore these, they are just notes to myself.)

I am wondering, for people who do not play any Sylvan Scrying, how often you find yourself needing a Nykthos, Shrine to Nxy? Also, how does Karametra's Acolyte work as a replacement Nykthos?

Good luck with your Brainstorms.

4 Devoted druid
4 Quillspike
4 Ivy Lane Denizen
4 Elvish Visionary
4 Llanowar Elves
4 Wood Elves
4 Ursapine
4 Flourishing Defenses
4 Presence of Gond
Spells
4 Lead the Stampede
4 Evolution Charm
16 Forest
So this deck has 4ish combos:
Devoted Druid + Quillspike
Devoted Druid + Ivy Lane Denizen + Flourishing Defenses
Devoted Druid + Ivy Lane Denizen + Presence of Gond
Devoted Druid + Ursapine + Flourishing Defenses
The other cards are mainly to find yourself a Devoted Druid:
Elvish Visionary
Lead the Stampede
There are some mana accelerants:
Wood Elves
Llanowar Elves
If your Devoted Druid gets killed then you can use the Evolution Charm, it also lets you thin your deck if you find yourself needing to do something on turn 2.

Greater Gargadon
Sakura-Tribe Elder
Viridian Emissary
Gruul Signet
Lightning Bolt
Slagstorm
Wildfire
Destructive Force

Yes, I gave them the Prophecy expansion symbol... I happen to like Prophecy.
Given this, would it be safe to compare it to Stoneforge Mystic? Seems reasonable to me since I think I remember seeing Mystic at aroud 6-7 when the event deck was released in 2011. (For reference: http://www.wizards.com/magic/magazine/article.aspx?x=mtg/daily/arcana/714)
Granted, Birthing Pod is not as dynamic as Mystic... But for a ballpark comparison, maybe.
