How do you handle BR zombies for example as aggro? How do you sideboard?

You already run thragtusks and huntmatsters, I've sided in centaur healers before (so that your curve becomes --, --, healer, huntmaster, thrag, for a 10 life and 5 body movement in your favor). That stops aggro, especially if you also have some kind of baordwipe in hand as well, which you should. If not, you can also just curve into a sphinx's revelation and heal up into the combo, or just outrace them (huntmaster stalls, thrag stalls, combo out on turn 6)

Explain to me who this is wrong, 3+ coloured decks can have a mana base that every single land can either produce R or W, meaning if you have 3 untapped lands you can always cast it.

If you were familiar with simple use of your mental capabilities instead of trying to look superior, you wouldn't be saying such silly silly things.

That would restrict such a deck to (in non-legacy formats) running 16 or 24 land, or subpar options. And, if every land has a chance of making w or r, the probability of not getting one of those 12 white sources by turn three is 8.5%, ie 1 in 12 games. That probability drops further with intelligent deckbuilding (manadorks, mana rocks, etc. all make the chance of not getting the mana you want/need extremely low).

That was never confirmed in any official capacity.

Since I've got into magic again, I've been building up my cards. What is the best way to store uncommons/commons you use a lot? A binder doesn't seem very economical, and I don't have enough fatpack boxes. I could put them in the bigger boxes, but I'm a bit cautious of placing cards in them since I might damage the corners trying to get them out.

    What do you guys do?

I store bulk commons/uncommons in 1K count longboxes, I have like 8 of those. For standard nonrares that are useful, like O-ring, dissipate, think twice, etc. I keep 4-8 copies in a "shortlist." This currently contains about 500 cards (meaning maybe 80 different names) spanning all all current standard. Everything from burn spells to centaur healers are included. Charms, guildgates, etc. This is organized by set then collector number (so, set, color, name a-z). I store it in 2-3 deckboxes.

I like the idea behind this thread metamorph. nice to see a strictly competitive player making some more casual decks for the funloving people here.

Going to M12 or M11 (or M10 or Xth or 8th or 7th or 6th or 5th or 4th or 3rd or A/B/U), Birds of Paradise is ridiculously out of color just for having flying. Outside of Birds of Paradise, the last set to have a mono-green flyer was Planar Chaos.

Green has more 0/1 fliers for 1 mana than any other color (as of the last time I saw the argument you are making, a few months back).

    EDIT:
Wait, nope. Black has 4, green has 2, white, blue, and red each have 1.

So I'm switching LGS's, which means i'm going to be playing a lot more standard. I want to give this deck a shot. Here's the build I am thinking of going with

Using that as a starting point and then tweaking from there. Being a new location the meta is unknown to me. Thoughts on my list? I'm also going to try a bunch of matches with Nicol Bolas and Chandra in there, based on what people are saying.

Andy thoughts on Snapcaster Mage? We have so many juicy flashback targets and plenty of Mana to cast them.

In an unknown meta, you want moar thragtusk. Therefore, -1 urban +1 Thrag. I'd also remove the other urban for a third increasing ambition, or a third thrag, but that is personal preference, I like the added utility/reliability.

The johnny in me says "Ohdeargod that's hilarious." The spike in me says that all you've done is watered down the main wincondition and made yourself slower and less reliable. Your version is funny, but won't be as competitive as others posted.

    dpduder:
Totally true, but we are a slow deck (excluding the rare t5 wins we can pull off). This means that a Rakdos aggro dek siding out burn (for what creatures we have?) and playing hellrider a turn later doesn't hurt them, since we'd already be playing thragtusk turn 4, and therefore at the same time as hellrider.

Yeah peddler-caster is more effective for the MD. Though versus control I bring in the Thundermaw hellkites and dissipates, siding out the peddler combo. Generally, control is an easier matchup than aggro, huntmaster and Thundermaw demand answering, once they do drop the combo and win on the spot. Also making sure they don't resolve a sphinx's revelation is a big deal.

I'm actually finding a new use for the new jace, his ultimate is achievable with our defensive suite. I've been so lucky as to ultimate into an opponents thragtusk and my deadeye with all my mana open to blink away into a sweep or loose situation. I've done the same versus omni for their omniscience to drop the combo from my hand and one time for their gilded lotus, and my deadeye with a conscripts in hand to go infinite. Yes the mini FoF is the obvious choice, but this deck can win using jace's ultimate on the spot. Great for the control matchup.

That seems totally fair, I think it works fine.

My honest gut feeling is that this deck would make more headlines if it were more represented by skilled players. For every major tourney I bet this deck represents less than 1% of the meta.

The issue is meta, atm aggro is HUGE, and more importantly, aggro is R/B so they can side in some extreme combo-hate.

    I went with top 2%.
I scored in the 100 percentile on a CA state math test once. My dad bought me ice cream for it. Looking back on it, my dad sucks butthole.

Depends on the test, as low as 125 and high as 140, normally around the mid 130 range. My SAT scores hover around 2200 as another metric. (never studied)

I don't think you are getting enough value out of snappy to warrant his inclusion, the staticaster version just seems better, although I might want mortars main board. Additionally, a 5-cost jace would be good side board, since he's pro against control.

Glimyrpost, glad to see you back. i know i wasnt the most frequent poster but ive been following this deck for a long time. played it online forever, finally getting together in paper. By far the most fun i've had playing any deck in standard.

This makes me smile, I had an impact on mtg, which is kewl.

Im still doing great, this deck has the perfect combination of removal lifegain, and tempo to stay ahead of boros and rdw. the only thing im considering is splashing black for Abrupt Decay however, id slide the staticaster combo to the SB and maybe add Snapcaster Mage to the md. If it werent for Boros Reckoner id consider Mizzium mortars in the same slot.

I'd need to see your decklist, I know mine were too aggro-y to want a snapcaster (I had like...farseek and mizzium...and nothing else?). Mizzium is still really strong, don't doubt it.

Also considering answers for huminator, Cavern of Souls slows my usual blue answers (dissipate/syncopate) before Ground seal did plenty to stall reanimator while i waited to counter thier fatties. Now im thinking tomorod's Crypt is a necessity.

That is a meta issue I don't have (I'm the only combo guy where I play), but crypt would probably do more than enough to stop it.

Under the proposed system, they could too.

The difference would be in how frequently this happens, and under what conditions this happens. It's not bad that these infractions can get you suspended, it's bad that they are on the same level as, say, posting porn.

I meant 1 of each. Under the new gals system (or mine), it would take significantly more than a bad day to get someone suspended.
