We need to step back and ask ourselves, why are we trying to fix something that isn't broken in the first place? Even with the presumption that we're not punishing trolling "as harshly as we should be" why do you need to overhaul the entire system to fix this one issue? Why can't this be done with infractions that take longer to expire for trolling and flaming?
Because that isn't the only issue. A lack of cardtags, an accidental image leech, and an offtopic post can get you suspended.
I don't actually know. I've always assumed that it was set a long time ago, but I know we issue 250 point and 200 point infractions all the time because those trigger certain user groups. So, I guess 250 is the most we currently use.
I'd hate to know what usergroups those are.
A 15 point system, this actually does some cool things:
What would currently be warnings become 1 point infractions. Note that this is smaller than a current warning, since it takes 3 warnings 3 infracts for a ban now, it would take at least that many, possibly more under the new system.
Warnings for serious but still warnable things (trolling, flaming, etc) become 2 points.
Next we have the things:
Spam - 2-3 points, depending on severity
Flaming/Trolling - 4-5+ for severity
Innapropriate Language - 3-4 points depending on severity
Censor Evasion - 3-4 points, depending on severity
Using Modtext - 1-2 points
Editing modded posts - 1-2 points
Good grammaer - 2-3 points, for multiple offenses, increasing
Image Leeching - 2-3 points
Avatar - 2-3 points, repeated increases
Soliciting - half+1 (7)ish, less if its questionable how much it is soliciting, like those threads where someone posts a funny eBay auction
Illegal Activity - Instasuspension
For stuff that is forum specific:
Cardtags - 2 points, repeated offenses earn more
Others can elaborate on other sections, but I feel this allows mods to have more leeway in providing fairer infracts/warns, while at the same time making worse offenses more severe and dumb/housekeepy stuff to low points.
I feel that in general, there should be a set number with mod discretion to add or subtract 1 point for small stuff, and for things like flaming and language, a mod can add or subtract 2 points, depending on severity (ie. "Galspanic is a ****ing moron and deserves to die in hell" is a 7 pointer, while "the mods on mtg are absolutely stupid and unable to mod" is a 3-4 pointer *NOTE THAT THIS IS STILL SMALLER THAN AN OLD INFRACTION).
Gals, 1 question: what is the 'maximum' amount of points that the infraction system can handle, or is it arbitrarily large and only limited by simplicity.
Hey, cool to see the thread bumped again.
I do think that stati-peddler deserves more attention now (I wrote it off before due to gimmick and meta reasons, but its strong competitive showing and personal meta changes mean that it works more for me at least).
I've moved on to omnidoor, mostly because this deck got very little. Zengana isn't worth inclusion, niv just does more. The new shocks are however a huge boost. An enormous boost. You could also conceivably run gyre sage as a replacement for lotus (she needs 3 counters, you get 1 from staticaster, huntmast, or thrag, and then she gets to 4 with deadeye coming in). That is however a much more fragile version, but it makes the combo creatures only, which is a plus, since you can now bounce the sage if they try to destroy it. This sets you back on tempo significantly, since you need to spend 6 (actually no, you just need 3 mana methinks) mana bouncing conscripts and deadeye to get gyre back up to 3 counters. Interesting change if someone wants to try it.
This is how I saw it, which matched the formatting for each other conversation before it. Blue = OP Red = Opponent
"I block with this creature that has protection from Green." "Attacker assigns lethal damage to your creature, which is reduced to zero, and the remaining 4 damage Tramples over to you." "Protection means protection. You can't assign lethal damage, because no such number exists."
<magicjudges.org again> "You're a dick."
As a side note, JaceTheWalletShredder, how are you utilizing judge apps to get quick rules answers?
try opponent, jace, jace, opponent. It makes sense.
Can't speak for wilmheath, but my LGS sells a LOT more Yugioh than Magic.
Mine finally got some, and it has been selling amazingly fast. They've wanted it for months, but distributors are annoying in ATL apparently (Maybe that's a reason, no one cares if you aren't supergames :P)
Scoop and side in my Grixis control sideboard, haha. Grixis control has a good match-up against other forms of control, at least in my experience. The keyrunes can also potentially get there if Lab maniac gets milled, especially against control.
I don't know why I'd run it over healer though, no one will win on turn 3, and healer can block 2/x's for even more lifegain. That stalls as much or more than the reunion.
Gideon doesn't have haste, he can't attack the turn he is played.
EDIT: owait, I read the OP wrong. Derp.
Only 1 pike is dangerous. Gideon is pretty easy to kill, especially with only 2 really relevant creatures. Aggro will outrace you badly, and control can wipe you and just insta-speed kill gideon, or tamiyo him, or any number of other things. Resto-blocking or tusk-blocking not the least of which.
your sb has two extra cards, im assuming the 4 fogs is supposed to be two?
How have you found the plansewalkers in the sb?
any reason why you aren't going a bit of a creature route? (ie grisel or reaver)
Yes, 4 fog should be 2 fog.
Grisel is unnecessary in EtI builds and reaver just seems underwhelming to me. Tamiyo is helpful in a lot of matchups, but I'm growing less fond of garruk by the week. He doesn't test well against control or aggro.
Are you not seeing a lot of opposing thragtusks? That's most of the reason I'm looking to cut worldfire. Might just be a meta audible, bang control is too common around me. Alchemists's flashed thragtusk has happened more than once.
ETI lets me boardwipe, then play another thrag, worldfire...gg.
I also want to add bobo for that reason, and because I went to turns and only won because an opponent scooped turn 5 (I had worldfire'd with a tusk, but the game was over)
Simic charm is weak and I'll probably remove it from sb. Urban evolution is questionable, but great in a lab maniac build. Most games lost were due to mana screw, the land base needs some work :/
You'd also be surprised how many games that omniscience or ETI was countered, and I proceeded to just hardcast worldfire onto thraggy the next turn. People (near me anyway) underestimate the importance of Ambition.
I want to test a one-off Borborygmos Enraged, but I still feel like Enter the Infinite is too "cutesy" to be competitive. I may be wrong, and I kinda hope I am, but for now that's how I feel. To me, it feels a lot like Griselbrand. It NEEDS Omni to be played, and relies on 4-5 different spells resolving. I suppose with Cavern of Souls you could just ramp up to ETI, then cast Bobo on your last turn and blitz them though. Hmmmmmm
I went 5-0 last week, losing first round T8 to god drawing naya aggro. I had an imperfect ETI list. Its better than door.
The GT crowd is actually super casual. They appear occasionally at 2 of the stores near where I live (Titan's Comics and Games and Raven's Nest Games and Comics), and they don't do a lot. For the more serious crowd, I know people who truck it up 45 mins to Supergames for FNM. That's a long ride, and I doubt any startup could seriously compete with SG for at least a few years.
We beat control, since we want to go longer. So thats nice.
Since our wincons take up very few spots, we can play 4 fog and 4 boardwipes and thragtusks and revelations, meaning we beat aggro unless they goddraw.
We are a control deck, we beat midrange.
The deck is actually super reliable, more so than other forms of 5cc, since the win conditions outright win, now, and if they don't, they give you so much advantage that they then win, right now.
Because that isn't the only issue. A lack of cardtags, an accidental image leech, and an offtopic post can get you suspended.
That's not good.

The charms might be sb material, I dunno.

Just run a second maniac, it would be safer.
