posted a message on Out of color pie Green Cards
Beast Within is a pretty major colour-pie breaker, according to Maro.

Personally, I don't see why that isn't okay while things like Pongify and Rapid Hybridization are, but alas...

posted a message on [[BNG]] Release Notes (40-odd new cards)
    Quote from coyotemoon722
Courser is terribly written. By the wording you should be able to just keep playing lands, it says: You may play the top card of your library if it's a land card...

It's literally giving you the ability to play the card. I mean obviously it's overpowered without the rule, but they needed to include the rule on the card.

I don't think it's necessary. Melek doesn't let you get around timing restrictions--the only rule it breaks is being able to play spells from your library in addition to from your hand. It doesn't mean you can play sorceries at instant speed. Likewise, the timing restrictions on Courser of Kruphix don't mean you can play more than one a turn. Now, it'd be a different story if it said "you may put the top card of your library into play"...

I'm going to guess that this is the next-block-hint card, a la Stoneforge Mystic hinting that Equipment would become relevant in the next block. People have been asking for the return of landfall and full-art lands too.

posted a message on [[BNG]] Nessian Demolok (Bigmagic Preview)
I can't believe how many people are taking him seriously.

I thought it was a pretty obvious joke...at least, I hope it is.

On-topic: I can see myself mid-picking this. Hopefully green will be able to get to 3GG before turn 5, meaning your opponent either has to deal with a slightly undercosted fatty or give up a land and deal with a bigger, deathtouch-less Acidic Slime.

posted a message on Deathrite Shaman vs Scavanging Ooze vs Thoughtseize
    Quote from rancored_elf
Current prices (eBay buy it nows, before shipping costs, ignoring sellers with no feedback and cheap auctions with massive shipping fees):

DRS - cheapest single $14, playset $60, 42 total auctions
Cashseize - cheapest single $19, playset $95, 50 total auctions
Ooze - cheapest single $10, playset $47, 109 total auctions

Cashseize singles are almost as cheap as Deathrite singles, but playsets are more, although there are more copies available even though it's a mythic. Cashseize's price is still on the way down, while Deathrite's has nowhere to go but up from here, so even if it's losing by a hair right now, that seems likely to change. Ooze is overabundant and quite a bit cheaper than both, and on the way lower.

FYI, Thoughtseize is a rare in Theros.

Rakdos Charm and Suppression Field are suspiciously absent from the Twin and Pod lists. Aura Barbs is good against Bogles too.
