I'd like to try the deck out (especially since Glissa seems to be the only mythic I'm able to pull, I've managed to complete my playset with the promo + 3 pulled between the prerelease, fat pack, and a draft), but...where does this deck go if you don't draw Glissa? And in the likely chance that Glissa gets GftT'd, then what? Use a few slots for Morbid Plunder?

I'll test it out on MWS but lack of early-turn plays has me a little worried.

Also, I don't think the mods like it when non-mods use bold red font.

Er, Treasure Mage's art aside, did we know before this that the next set would be both New Phyrexia and Mirrodin Pure? That's what I'm extrapolating from the site.

I thought we were previously told that only one side would win?

The Top 2 finishers with Mirran-affiliated decks receive a Pristine Talisman preview card from Mirrodin Pure. The Top 2 finishers with Phyrexia-affiliated decks receive a Suture Priest preview card from New Phyrexia! This is in addition to any Top 8 prize cards you might win for their overall event finish.

No hits for Kaldra in either Orb, but one hit for 9/9 in the Phyrexian Orb. Guess that rules out Planeswalker.

/isn't familiar with the Magic storyline

    /wasn't too serious

Excited to see how this plays out though.

Thanks for the advice so far. As I've mentioned, I'm pretty unfamiliar with the format and the TO called it Pauper, so that's what I went with. I'll edit the thread title when I'm done this post though.

Unfortunately, there can't be any Mythics in the deck or sideboard, just one "vanilla" rare and four uncommons. That being said, is Demigod of Revenge still my best choice?

I'm not really sure how I feel about landfall with the CIPT fetchlands. It seems very...anti-aggro of me to have them in. Sure, I could pump Geopede for an attack, but what's the point if it can't attack 'til T4 anyway? Aren't the first few turns crucial to aggro decks?

I can add try to add the fourth Sign in Blood, Blightning, Burst, and Terminate, I guess.

Quenchable Fire seems efficient to me; if Flame Javelin's 3 for 4 is good, what's wrong with QF's 4 for 6 (usually)?

Is Lash Out really that great if the average CMC of my deck is sitting at about 2? Also, I never played much with Lorwyn block cards; if it's a tie, does the clashing repeat?

I like Explorer's Scope though, and I'd like to make room for that if I can.

We're allowed four uncommons and one rare. Any suggestions? Here's what I have so far.

I usually play Limited, Standard, or Legacy, so I'm relatively unfamiliar with both Pauper and Extended formats. It'll be nice not to worry about a Jace/Titan popping up though.

I'd like to find room for Panic Spellbmbs and/or Tumble Magnets since I'm used to them in Standard RDW, but with all the removal I already have are they necessary?

What other decks am I likely to encounter, and what else could fit in my sideboard?

I was going to post something extremely similar to the above post, but it was phrased better than I could have phrased it.

I know it'll probably never happen, but I think a fair solution would be to restrict Jace or the Titans to 1/2/3 copies per deck.

As an ex-Yu-Gi-Oh player, I have experience with this and I think it's a good way to control the metagame while not completely destroying decks. I don't mind seeing an occasional Jace, but decks should be able to win without it. Same with Primeval Titan.

I enjoy playing red most, and even I have to admit that I should be able to (and can) win games without seeing a single Bolt or Guide.

Does anyone know why Wizards doesn't restrict cards in non-Vintage formats?

Because botmaster didn't emphasize it, I should:

If Blazing Torch is equipped to a red creature, for example, the ability couldn't target a creature with protection from red.

So it wouldn't work against KFW anyway.

I'm in the process of experimenting with this along with other forms of evasion, like Smoldering Spires, Panic Spellbomb, Goblin Shortcutter, and Goblin Tunneler.

Smoldering Spires is almost definitely a 2-of since it helps with Mark of Mutiny/Primeval Titan shenanigans. Panic Spellbomb hasn't disappointed since I can drop it early for Goblin Guide to get one more hit in and I can usually EOT cantrip if worst comes to worst. Tunneler's won me games since I roll with Kiln Fiend + Assault Strobe, but it's also been just a chump blocker or dead card.

Tumble Magnet would probably replace Panic Spellbomb, but its 3 CMC has me worried a bit.

On an unrelated note, what does the "S" in SCD stand for? I assume the "CD" is "card discussion", but I've read some of the forum stickies and I couldn't find it. =\

Edit: Just thought of something. Is it "Standard"? Slant

It's a neat trick, but doesn't seem very practical. To actually be able to reuse an Ulamog's vindicate effect, you need:

9 mana to cast Ulamog 1
9 mana to cast Ulamog 2
7 mana to tutor for Ulamog
9 mana to cast Ulamog again

= 34 mana to destroy 3 permanents over 4 turns, or 3 + 4 from Annihilator if you attack first.

...I'd rather just use the mana to feed more ramp to hardcast Emrakul or something. Hell, even keeping the first Ulamog and beating face with it gets you much more card advantage than going through the lengthy process just to destroy a few specific permanents.

That being said, I run 2x Ulamog in my build, but because he's an indestructible 10/10 with Annihilator 4 who just happens to be able to Vindicate upon being cast, not to be a part of some convoluted combo.

On its own, I really like it. I'm also a fan of the art and reminder text. Decent body and useful effect against the right deck.

Unfortunately, compared to the other 4-drops in standard RDW (Koth and Molten-Tail Masticore), as well as finisher Kargan Dragonlord, it's just too slow and is easily outclassed. Not even worth a sideboard slot imo. During turns 5/6, you should be using more effective means to get the last 5 or so damage in, not three mana for one per turn.

hello all, i need some clarification please.

When does Zendikar block rotate out of standard? and when does m11 get replaced by m12?

please help me understand this, thanks guys!

    To clarify:

Zendikar block and M11 rotate out on October 1st, 2011, which is a year after Scars came out (not October 30th).

Scars block will rotate out at the same time in 2012.

Also, M12 will come out in July 2011, meaning for three months (July, August, September), both M11 and M12 will be standard legal.
