I think this card poses pretty real problems for any deck that wins with creatures, not just red! A 5/7 indestructible vigilant trampler on the backswing is not a joke. Definitely want to keep an eye on this card.
Seems like it's designed to be a monster control hoser. You get 2 cards per turn and they have to play their draw step card right away or lose it. If it had flying I'd slam dunk it as an aggro curve topper, but right now I'm not sure it beats Glorybringer? Definitely nasty though!
Edit: can a mod change the title to Urabrask? I typo'd that and it's driving me nuts
I prefer Gravebreaker Lamia. For one mana more, you get a series of upsides, and I don't mind swapping deathtouch for lifelink. One mana is a big difference, but I think most people forgot Lamia ever existed.
I actually disagree - being a 2/2 matters for Reveillark, both Recruiters, Alesha, and others that I'm forgetting. It plays more nicely with Birthing Pod (generally 4->5 is a really important part of the chain) and 4 mana + deathtouch matters significantly.
The more I think about this guy the more i like it. If you're holding Recurring Nightmare he is a one-man enabler no matter what the rest of your hand looks like.
Card seems bonkers to me - 3/3 haste on turn 2 is just absurd, and the Echo can even be an upside in certain decks (madness, graveyard synergies etc). My only concern is that graveyard synergy isn't something that aggressive decks want to take time to mess with. But damn, imagine T1 goblin guide and T2 this guy!
So maybe I'm overreacting but I'm pretty high on this card. Essentially mind rot with exile instead of discard, and then Tormod's crypt for only your opponent. This looks like a pretty painful way to hose graveyard interaction, but I'm curious what ya'll think!
This card is obviously good enough, but we are going to pass on it because it seems rather unfun. We cut Ashiok and Sword of Body and Mind a long time ago, so I dont see this making it in

Creature - Djinn Pirate
Whenever Emberwilde Captain enters the battlefield, you become the Monarch.
Whenever you are attacked, if you are the Monarch, Emberwilde Captain deals damage to the attacking opponent equal to the number of cards in their hand."
I want to try this card. Mono-red getting a body along with pure card draw every turn, and the only way they can stop you is if they attack you to get monarch and take damage (and you're mono red so you'll probably get it back). What do ya'll think?
JinxedIdol, I feel like you might be overlooking its value a bit. A 2/1 lifelink menace for 2 in black is already a VERY good baseline, scales scarily well with equipment/other buffs, which means black aggro is always happy to have it. But if you topdeck it late game, it can totally swing the board if you've got Chupacabra, Nekrataal, Shriekmaw etc etc in the bin (which the kinds of black decks I'm happy to play usually are). I view this dude as basically a modal spell, and a really strong one at that.
