Music is often shown in green, and architecture is often showcased in white sources.
Black can find use for all forms of art that are self-oriented: art to praise the powerful, art for hedonistic pleasure, art for egoism
Even blue, while it has less use for 'frivolous' things like arts than some colors would find appreciation in the mathematical side of music, in technical mastery and expression of other arts, and (in classic fantasy setting style) the mind-control power of music and other art -

Killane posted a message on What if Chess were run like Magic?Yes magic costs money. So?Posted in: Magic General
Golf costs money. Even after I buy my $3500 set of clubs, I have to pay huge greens fees extending into the hundreds of dollars at some clubs, which may also charge huge membership fees.
Rock climbing costs money. in addition to the huge amounts of money on the equipment, you need to spend cash to get to a location that does it, or pay club fees of $25-$50 at an indoor place.
Boating costs a ton of cash- gas, towing, parking... oh yeah and the freakin' BOAT, which you might end up getting a loan the size of a mortgage on.
There are quite a few hobbies (that's what MTG is by the way, a hobby. not an entitlement, a right, or a vital need, it's a hobby that some people end up turning into a job, just like sports, singing, and all sorts of other fun things that only very few people get to do professionally) that are expensive. MTG is quite cheap compared with Golf, Rock Climbing, Boating and many others like Flying planes. It costs $15 or less to draft weekly, and unlike most other hobbies, for which you have to buy assets like golf clubs and boats that are worth LESS on the secondary market, for MTG you get to buy collectables that APPRECIATE in value (especially if you stay away from playing Standard) over time rather than becoming money pits.
Seriously folks, if you can't afford to play, you can't afford to play. Get a less expensive hobby (good luck BTW, most good hobbies cost more than MTG), or accept the limitations that your budgets impose. I can't play Vintage, Legacy, or Standard. They're all too expensive for me to play the way I want. that said, I can play MTG 5 days a week if I want too for less than $100/month, and my collection worth $10,000 has seen less than $3,000 of cash put into it over the last 5 years because values go up. I'm not even that good, and my net worth has IMPROVED because of my hobby. What other hobby can you say that about unless you're awesome.
Some people will whine when you hand them gold, just because they have to polish it a little. Get over it.
Or maybe... pick up chess -

MtGColorPie posted a message on [[COMM]] Commanders ArsenalWhen I went to go buy the Lord of the Rings Trilogy Extended Edition on Blu-Ray, I knew that I could get the Theatrical Cut on DVD for way cheaper. It tells the same story and it gets the job done. However, I wanted the behind the scenes extras, the longer cut, and the high quality video and audio for my viewing experience. My dad could care less about all of that, he just wants to watch the movie. Which one of us is wrong?Posted in: The Rumor Mill
Neither.
We both like our style just fine. -

Uranium posted a message on Rude/Oddest OpponentsYeah, King Pun is an obvious troll, and I've even called for him to be banned in the past. But I've changed my mind. He truly is a marvelous storyteller and his threads bring up some really tough questions. King Pun, I salute you. You are a most honorable troll.Posted in: Magic General -

spoofedozer posted a message on Rude/Oddest OpponentsPosted in: Magic GeneralQuote from King PunI have personally had many odd/rude opponents at my LGS. One of the more recent examples that I can think of was yesterday. I was playing EDH and this guy walks in that we are unfamilar with but it is cool because I like playing against new decks. I approach him and he tells me to sit first to "make sure it was safe" so I do and then he sits down but I can tell this guy is a nervous wreck (he keeps biting his finger nails and making sudden glancing movements with his head like he had magnets pulling on his face). We roll dice to see who goes first and he says something under his breath that I swore was like "The mongoose in the Man With The Golden gun always rolls a three" and then he rolls a three. His pupils widen and then he stares at me for 30 seconds and opens his mouth and screams that the LGS has asbestos in the ceiling, jumps on the table and then proceeds to jump across to other tables before exiting, leaving his deck behind. He left his deck and when we looked at it he had 93 sleevedprecursor golems.
At this point, at least to me, you are a troll. I can't speak for anyone else here, but this story has upped the BS from all your previous ones and I refuse to believe they are all true. -

I run a bunch of these in my Stonebrow deck to decent results.

I would kill for Onslaught block to be included in modern, Just so I can play Astral Slide.
