I really want to post a new thread to ask about this but can anybody explain to me what the reasoning is behind Necropotence not being banned in EDH?

I've seen this card used in a few games, and it's overpoweringly good. It's just awe inspiring good.

So I was told before going to a tournament that if I had say only my Vampire Nocturnus foil in my deck someone would be able to call a judge saying that they were marked since they were the only foils in my deck. Saying that one could tell a thickness difference of a foil from a normal card in a sleeve.

Now I searched through the DCI rules and couldn't find anything that would lead me to believe this to be true, my question is has anyone seen this done or know of this happening at a tournament? How did the judge justify it in the DCI rulebook?

Also after reading the rules it seemed that altered art cards can be played as well, which I always thought they couldn't be.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Another very possible card is Venser.

He was a planeswalker in the time spiral block, he survived the whatever killed off planeswalkers, he was an artificer, and he disappeared without a trace planeshifting off to another world. He's one of the new planeswalkers without a card and he would make since to be on this world.

I agree with the Virulent Swipe and your opinion on combat tricks. It is the same reason I run Agony Warp, Urge to Feed and Marsh Casualties. Agony warp is typically a 2 for 1, Urge to feed typically kills a creature and buffs mine (great with Vampire Hexmage & Vampire Nighthawk). I have been meaning to test this card against certain decks, most notably anything with Gideon.

Grim Discovery is far more situational than Disentomb. I run a Bu Deck with only 4 Verdant Catacombs for fetch lands. When playtesting Grim Discovery I was often left with the decision of whether or not to just cast it and not get the land since I had not yet cracked a fetch land. I understand that it is a CA, but only if you have a land in the graveyard. I really like having the ability to T4 Disentomb into a Vampire Nighthawk or Gatekeeper of Malakir if I need to or a T5 Disentomb into my Vampire Nocturnus.

For your deck since you are only running 4 fetches I could see Disentomb being better. But in general with most builds running a min of 6-8 fetches Grim Discovery is probably gonna be better for them in any situation.

I actually find myself wondering if I should wait for a creature to die before casting Grim Discovery more than waiting on a Fetch.

I do, but talk of this will be frowned upon by moderators...

Has anyone tried adding Maelstrom Pulse yet? I don't have any otherwise I would :|

I've been playing with Maelstrom Pulse in my vamp deck since I started playing vamps, which was when they came out.

It's a pretty good addition I feel, it's still a black card so if it is on top you still get Noc's buff. With G/B fetch land you can easily grab a forest whenever you need too and only really need to run 2 or so forests, so your swamp count isn't too low for tendrils or mind sludge.

The problem is, Pulse does not help out as much as I'd like in the jund match up, which is in my opinion one of the hardest match ups for vamps. Also U/W doesn't really get affected by Pulse that much either. Which is probably our second worst match up.

    Splash talk is not permitted.

I personally like splashing green into a vamps deck for Maelstrom pulse, thing helps out a ☺☺☺☺ ton against most decks.

But as stated before the problem with Vamps is the fact that everything it tries to do Jund does better.

When I went to the PTQ in Lexington I went 4-2 (dropped after 2nd loss) with vamps. RDW just rolls over and dies to ya, and I beat Conscription twice cause he couldn't keep a creature on the board. Lost to U/W Control the other two cause well, it's a better deck.

EDIT: Also with polymorph the best you can do is sideboard against it. for my sideboard I have 3 executioner capsule's and 2 sadistic sacraments. If you get a sacrament off you win, not much they can do when they don't have any creatures to get with polymorph. Sadly didn't face up against a polymorph to test my sideboard though, luckily didn't face jund either.

I splashed green cause Maelstrom Pulse is amazing. I haven't had any troubles getting the black mana I need to get out a kicked keeper or hit things with tendrils. Usually I only end up getting the forest the second I want to use the pulse.

Haven't gotten my sideboard yet. Also am not sure if I want to have 3 duress or 3 Mind Sludge in MD. I love duress for early hand control but from what I've been reading Mind Sludge sounds ridiculous.

The only other thing I've been wondering about is my mana base, only got 21 lands in my 61 card deck where most other decks are running 22-24. I haven't had too many troubles though so not sure if I wanna change that.

Went 4-0 at FNM with my G/B Vamp Build. Here is what I ran

Obviously I'd rather have 4x Verdant instead of the Terramorphic's but sadly I'm poor. The Putrid Leeches are supposed to be Bloodghasts, but same problem.

Only notable cards in sideboard were 3x Doomblade and 4xVampire Hexmage.

First round went up against a U/B/W Mill deck, just aggro'd through no problem. Went 2-0

Second round went up against a G/B/W landfall deck. This one was a bit tough. First game he stomped through me with Baloth's and Knight of Reliquiery. Wasn't much I could do against his army cause I couldn't find a pulse. I took out my disfigure and threw in my doomblades, was never anything for me to disfigure sadly.

Game two he get's super mana flooded so I slide in for the easy win.

Game three he seems to start going the way of game one but I doomblade his baloths, tendrils his knight, then on my turn I pulse away his beast tokens. He's left with no field, no hand. I stomp in the face for the win and go 2-1

Round 3: I go up against Jund Aggro. First game I get Noctorunus, I win.

Second game he makes a few play mistakes, plays his second leech so I pulse them. And later in game forgets to attack with some tokens that would have killed him and I get to pulse them. I scrape by with a win though and go 2-0

Round 4: Now I'm up against R/W Aggro Landfall. First game is a real bore. Somehow instead of our decks aggroing we are just controlling. I play a creature, he burns it, he plays a creature, I blow it up. Etc. Etc. Etc. Etc. Finally I peel a Sorin Markov off the top of my deck. He only has a burst lightning in hand so he can't burn him away and he starts building up. He starts wasting his burn to keep Sorin away from 7 while I'm keeping creatures on the field and finally swing in for the win. Finally!

Second Game. Now this was the aggro game I was expecting. He plays lynx first turn second turn drops fetch, gets land, attacks me for 4. Ouch. He taps down my Lacerator with the Kor Flier and hits me for 4 again the next turn. This is looking bad. He gets me down to 4 and I finally was able to stop the attacking with a disfigure on his lynx and a tendrils on his Kor. I go back up to 8. Next turn he plays the red 1/1 first strike (can't remember name for life of me) and I tendrils it, going up to 13. Then I peel Sorin off top deck and game just goes down hill for him from there. Yet again he uses his burn to keep Sorin away from 7 and I get to keep some creatures out and swing for win. 2-0

I gotta say, the one thing I learned is I love Sorin. +2 for 2 damage to either the player or to kill a creature is great. The -3 to set there life to 10 is only useful if they are gaining a lot of life. Honestly I never planned on using the Ult on Sorin but the fear of me using it allowed me to keep creatures from being burned to death and thus swing for win.

So what is currently considered to be the optimal build for this deck?

I'm just getting back into T2 and from my skimming this deck is closest to my playing style so I was curious on what was optimal so I can start twinking from there.

I don't feel much sadness for a person I don't know and have never met. From what I can tell about her from her TV apperances and her TV show, she wasn't that great of a person anyways. I mean, she has her mom and cousin get tattooes of her face, then she doesn't contact them ever? What kinda person does that?

But oh well, who am I to judge a person I've never met? Maybe she had her reasons, maybe she didn't. She probably was a better person than what ya saw on TV, since I've never met her, I'll never know.

But seriously, is there a way to ignore people? cause I don't ever wanna see one of that guys posts again.

So far I count 2 Dralnu players saying they don't break a sweat against MBC, yet every Dralnu match up I play against it I find it relatively easy....is there something I'm missing here?

Did not think they'd have a thread devoted to it since I didn't think it would be that good.

After looking through there lists, I kinda wanna do an Upheaval+[/card]Manabond[/card]+Limited Resources. Since mines only gonna be for casual play. Thanks for the link to the thread though.
