So I hope you are still very much wanting to build a villainous wealth modern deck. Cause I have seen it in action and really think that it could win games with a single cast. Please let me know. I am welling to work with you.
So remember that if you are planning on running white you have tutors and ways to filter down the deck. So getting playsets is not necessary for everything. Just need to know what you are setting up for. And they are cheep budget and also help with consistency. Open the Armory is a great example.
So for me I think the the best suggestion so far is Darksteel Plate, but how come no one has said anything about Energy chamber. Honestly the very first thing I think about is making him huge then swing Big with unblockable. Mono green with pumps, counters, and Blanchwood Armor for the win. Just mana ramp with land drops use this guy Ornithopter and Charging Badger for unblockable and evasive damage.
Bump! I really would like some ideas. I was thinking about throwing them into a deck with Kiora, the Crashing Wave. Maybe a the blue can provide some coverage for the Nest as it provides coverage for the Crashing Wave.
I can see that having it would not hurt. I would see it more of a why to keep your opponent on his toes. He watches you exile 7 cards then about four turns you are playing from that untouchable realm. I would like to see a deck where you a UW control deck uses Rest in Peace. That could allow you to play while your opponent struggles to play.
I have been playing the Magic the Gatherering for about 10 years. Started roughly around the time between Kamagawia and Ravinca. Like most players if not all I saw some guys playing and fell in love with it instantly. The strategy was amazing. I was still *cough cough* playing pokemon cards thinking about how much their was no startegy to it at all. Maybe some but I did not like it and was also playing the old school DBZ Card game which still to this day I think it is the best Card game ever, even though is completely broken. Moving back on track, I watched and started asking questions. I don't know what I said, maybe I was aggravating him or he could see my interest but he pretty much reached into his backpack and placed a 40 count deck on my desk. He said here take this and learn. My heart leaped with over joy. My only regret is that I forgot the kind lad's name. I wish I knew so that I could think him for the kick start. I shuffled through it and it was completely filled with second rated cards. Of course I knew that. I remember cards that caught my interest; Wind Drake, Snappinng Drake, Hollow dog, Steel Wall, and Seal of Doom. I think there was a Giant cockroach if my memory serves correctly. I do remember that it was pretty much a deck full of attackers the wall for defence and very little any thing else.
The part I would like to point out for the this thread is the birth of love for drakes. Looking back I could see why. With the walls I could freely attack with my drakes and win, Sometimes, or when I did win it would be that way. Over the next 10 years I gain either by trades or I got some through a booster pack, or even ordered online; I had kept up a drake control deck for that entire time playing and evolving over time. Though I have only played casual, I found out that it was starting to win games, a lot. It is my go to deck to get a win. Now filled with cards like Control Magic, Roil Elemental, and Confiscate I would take whatever advantage they had and use it against them. Oh and trust me it was full of drakes. All the spiketails (Spiketail Hatchling, Spiketail Drakeling, Spiketail Drake), silver wyvern, and of course old faithfuls (Wind Drake, Snapping Drake). 15 total drakes took to the skys. I love this deck. I am though at a point to where I want to continue to grow my deck. I am now wanting it to be tournament ready. I know that it will push me to loose the beloved wind and snapping drake but I have other plans for them. They will not leave that easily.
So here is the deck currently.
I know that I will need to leave wind drake and snapping drake out, but I have gathered other suitable drakes that might take their places. Sea DrakeGilded Drake and Wormfang Drake. Does not really matter but. I would like to keep as much of the spiketails as possible and keep the contorl factor. Time to get real
So I have been away from Magic for about a year now just because of being busy. A good friend of mine just shared that he played years ago like in the mid to late 90's. A really long time. He was asking me some questions then it went from there. Somehow I got tasked to create him black deck to fit today's standards. Not that I mine I love researching and creating different style of decks. Just so I could figure out what style he like I asked him to share some thoughts and some cards he liked. After had started looking he head pretty much exploded. He could not figure out what he liked I saw that he leaned toward vampires. Vampires are good but in my option not fun. I did however noticed that he like Demons, live gain and Erebos, God of the Dead.He is a s**t talker so I know that he would like to really miss with people and play cards that pretty much warp peoples faces. So I decided to go with a lower creature sac for fatties and the best Demon to me for that is Demon of Death's Gate. Get some one CMC droppers and let the fun begin. Let me know if there is anything that I can improve on. Before I give him a final product.
I am like that only person that has commented but, I am a fan of this deck. The fun factor is huge. I am a fan of playing at my own pace while keeping your opponent on there toes, and this ever changing battlefield allows that. Only curious because you did not mention on your post why take out Wormfang Drake. It would make great way to recast your creatures that you take out with Momentary Blink. Plus it provides a decent attacker or defender. Not telling you to put it back but I think it would add the ever morphing battle field.
Still a big fan of this deck I am working on a deck that is blue/white with the beautiful Rayne, Academy Chancellor , I would like for you to check out and add any feedback. I have been out of the Magic for a while and getting back into it. I will post it shortly trying to get a baseline right now. I will let you know when I post.
So nice guys you have helpped me out and now I have two deck ideas. Will of course one was not really decussed and the other blossumed into something that could be fun. Love it when you find a new card and can't help but to start piecing it together.
