You guys seem to forget that we have Awaken in this set. They need to curb the stats of these things because of it. Imagine, Awaken 4 on this, activate and attack/block with a 6/7 lifelinker.

Yep. Atarka is a green source. She has a green mana symbol in her mana cost and thus is considered green.

    Quote from Edward Mass
Oh, I realize. Heck, this article lays it out as such (from a mathematical perspective). Still, it's not truly DE since the people with losing records continue to play through the whole event.

What I'm talking about is true, cut-throat DE. Not fit for FNM, but fine for events with hundreds or thousands of participants. It could be tested out at a GP, for example.

Top Eight bracket. In larger tournaments, there will typically be a series of single elimination games played between the eight players with the best records after X number of Swiss rounds. For example, an event with 30+ participants would likely lead to a T8 bracket near the end.

Horrible idea. Imagine a new player goes to his first GP, flies a decent distance, in fact, loses his first two rounds, and instead of being able to play the remaining 7 rounds for the fun of it and getting planewalker points, he is simply eliminated and told "nope, you're done, sorry".

    What a great experience.

Assuming you distribute at least one damage to both blockers, all creatures will die. Both 3/3s will be then taking lethal damage (at least 1 from a deathtouch source) and your Reaper will be taking 6 from the them with only 5 toughness and will die as a result.

This question is one that causes great confusion among many players. It has also somewhat been answered in other threads, but not in great detail, and usually just as an aside.

So I would love a detailed and correct reasoning why if an opponent controls an effect that causes your creatures to enter the battlefield tapped, such as Imposing Sovereign, and you cast a god card, such as Thassa, God of the Sea with exactly 4 devotion to blue already in play, that god will enter untapped, despite you now having exactly 5 devotion. I know it is a replacement effect, but I'm not sure exactly what the full reasoning is. This is important now that Orzhov aggro is a deck people will be playing.

No since it is "AS ~ enters the battlefield" this guy goes off the stack with a player chosen.

Question is, in fact, if it's really "as" or "when"

It's not when, or it would say "when". It functions and is in fact, worded exactly the same as, say Adaptive Automaton. I don't see why people are having trouble with this. If it's a translation question, I can assure you it will say "As" in English.

  • posted a message on Phalanx Leader/Last Breath
Correct. The heroic ability triggers on targeting the creature with the spell. It will get the +1/+1 counter before Last Breath resolves. It then becomes an illegal target for the Last Breath, and it gets countered on resolution.

Edit: Correction, Phalanx Leader would actually still be a valid target and be exiled by Last Breath because it starts as a 1/1. If you targeted say, a Fabled Hero instead, this would work.

In five years of marriage I learned a few things. One is women complain about everything. So do as you enjoy bc no matter what they're going to find something wrong to yell about.

'You're wearing that shirt? How insensitive!'

'I can't believe you would eat baby cow....'

'Stop checking out the girl at the next table.'

Go to fnm because you'll get yelled out no matter what.

If this is what you truly think, I'm sorry for you. Many women are actually reasonable and kind, believe it or not. Unless of course you're wearing a blatantly offensive shirt, consuming a live baby animal (lol), or legit checking out another woman in front of your own wife. In which case you deserve it.

Both triggers will happen the end of your turn. If you stack them so that Obzedat's own trigger resolves first (and exiles him), then the Whip's trigger tries to exile Obzedat, sees nothing there, and does nothing.

You cannot. Spells can never target themselves.

I suppose you can go with any deck, but your supposed to restrict it to standard which those are not. Also, neither does any more than a normal wrath would. You make a whole lot of stumps for heads to grow back on.

Actually, the deck is apparently able to be scaled to play against any deck at all, even competitive legacy decks.

I am curious about the following situation.

A player has Abhorrent Overlord in play and come their upkeep, both players forget about the sacrifice trigger. If a spectator notices, are they allowed to say or do anything? I'm aware that if the trigger was beneficial, such as "gain 1 life at the beginning of your upkeep" they wouldn't be allowed to, but this is a detrimental trigger. Is it the same?

  • posted a message on Does Heroic trigger in the yard?
No. Unless stated specifically on the card, abilities are only functional while the card is a permanent on the battlefield.

Pretty much this ^. With this card however if you REALLY needed that creature OR removal spell you were not going to get it. Man I actually had to re-read this card to see if it was exactly FoF only to get extremely disappointed that it isn't but worse! There is no reason to play this over FoF.

Well sure there is. If you want to play, you know, standard.
