Was linked to this by someone.

    http://www.black-lotus.nl/mod/43378/1-4-2013/Ral_Zarek_spoiler.jpg

Think of it what you will.

Edit: Actually upon second read it's obviously a fake image given templating/card number/other things. Still may be what Ral actually is though, no way to tell. Also should be edited to be DGM by a mod, my bad :/

I noticed that too. My inclination is that it was unintentional. It's a very common play to put down a tapped shockland end of turn and he put the cavern into play immediately after salvaging. High level event, cameras, nervousness, and general habits play into it.

  • posted a message on Cards with flash count as instants?
You cannot, as Snapcaster Mage is not an instant, and nothing in the rules says that the Flash keyword allows creatures with it to be treated as instants. The only similarity they share is that they can be cast using the same timing rules. Your opponent was wrong.

Welp, perfect sideboard card against that awful deck that just won a GP.

The above answer is correct. While it's true that we don't have actual official evolve rules yet, the templating is an intervening if clause and those always work the same. It won't trigger at all if the creature coming in to play is smaller in p/t and it checks again on resolution.

To dispel all uncertainties here rules-wise, for each creature with extort you controlled, every time you cast a spell, the extort triggered ability would trigger for each one, and you'd have to pay one mana for each one.

I was not there, so take what I say with a grain of salt, but to me, barring this judge being in a very bad mood for some reason, if he came over to you, watched you for a very short time and then told you to play faster, there's a chance either he had observed earlier, or someone had brought to his attention, that you had been playing slower than necessary at an earlier point in the tournament, and he was investigating.

Again, I know nothing about the situation, but I'm attempting to see reason in the judges actions based on your side of the story. However, as Segoth said, your best course of action if this case in you felt wronged was appealing to the head judge.

  • posted a message on Constant Top-Card Reveal + Card Draw
    Quote from Lithl
"Draw N" effects are preformed as a series of "Draw 1" effects. You cannot draw 3 cards at the same time (as far as the game state is concerned). You can also notice this with a card that triggers off of card draw ("Whenever you draw a card, ...") -- they will trigger N times, not once.

Since cards like Lantern have a static effect that makes the top card always revealed, the top card will be revealed between each of those "Draw 1" effects.

It's important to read cards carefully, though, as not all effects which cause you to physically manipulate the top few cards of your deck actually have you remove them one at a time (or remove them at all).

To emphasize this, a card like Index, which instructs the player to "look" at cards rather than draw them would not reveal all five. You would know the top card from before, and then the top card after.

May I ask which are the rulings for shockland entering battlefield tapped with Farseek whether a person chooses life loss? I want to print those rulings since many people of my playgroup believe that you can untap a shockland after it enter the battlefield through Farseek.

It's quite simple really when you think about it. There would be no argument among your playgroup that Farseek would make a basic land come into play tapped, correct? Yet basic lands, when played normally always come into play untapped. There is no difference here.

  • posted a message on Angel of Serenity and Selesnya Charm
Something very important to add. Angel of Serenity's trigger is NOT identical to Oblivion Ring. It's very similar though. The major difference is that the controller of the Angel has the option whether or not to actually exile the targets upon resolution of the ability, hence the 'may' in the rules text on Angel, whereas Oblivion Ring is mandatory. You must always choose targets though (well, up to three means you could choose 0 if you wanted). But the choice of whether or not to go through with it only happens when the ability resolves.

This is relevant in any situation where you'd not want the targets permanently exiled, such as when targeting your own creatures to get back from the graveyard like in atquick's situation.

In other words, if someone Selesnya Charms your Angel in response to its enters the battlefield trigger, you can say, 'ok, I choose not to exile the creatures when the Angel's ability resolves'.

From the rulings of Rusted Relic (just click the card link)

If Rusted Relic stops being a creature during combat (because you lose control of one or more artifacts, perhaps), it is removed from combat and will not deal or be dealt combat damage. Creatures it was blocking remain blocked. It won't re-enter that combat, even if you wind up controlling three or more artifacts again during that combat phase.

    So your feelings are correct.

A quick trawl of Ebay gives these average prices for non-foil versions of the cards - I've notionally priced the P3 cards at $25. Figures in brackets are foiled prices. Interestingly, ignoring the two P3 cards, the value of the set in non-foil is $75 so no one can complain about the pure value of the set Smile

    Kaalia - $9
    Mimeoplasm - $1
    Edric - $3
    Maelstrom Wanderer - $7
    Vela - $1
    Duplicant - $3 ($30)
    Dragonlair Spider -$2
    Decree of Pain - $4 ($20)
    Chaos Warp - $3
    Desertion - $4
    Mirari's Wake - $4 ($25)
    Sylvan Library - $8
    Rhystic Study - $3 ($20)
    Scroll Rack - $16
    Mind's Eye - $5 ($10)
    Command Tower - $2 ($30)
    Diochan - $25
    Loyal Retainers -$25

I'm confused how you came to the P3 prices. LR is $150, and Diochan is $60.

OP, in general, cards do not tell you what they CAN'T do, only what they CAN do. True, it doesn't say you can't cast it from your graveyard (without specific circumstances like Snapcaster giving it FB), but then, does ANY card actually say that? Think about it. A card has to specifically give you permission to do something out of the ordinary. There wouldn't be enough room on any cards to say what they can't do. Overload is just an alternative way of casting the card and making it do something else. That's all.

A quick overview of outside assistance. I'm honestly surprised someone asked, though. This isn't one of the tricky ones.

The very fact that streams are widely popular and advertised by the streamers, and those in charge (you know, the people who make the rules in the first place) are well, well aware of them and not only allow them to continue but actively encourage them, should tell you immediately that it's fine. Paper magic and MTGO are NOT the same game. Rules regarding policy are vastly different between them.
