It's less NWO and more the decision to make creatures better.
NWO is about making commons simple, because they had trouble after Time Spiral with complexity.
The new set is boss, though obviously all the processor stuff isnt good in cube because of the one-of nature of it.
You can add them, just be warned that they are bombs and will warp the format. Factory is the most fair, because removal in most pauper cubes is top notch.
Strip mine is only good in pauper to maybe mana screw somebody, and it's huge to hit a karoo.
Maze will just make every match long and boring.
Strip mine doesn't really have any good targets in Pauper. So it would only randomly hoze the guy who kept a 2 or 3 land hand and didn't draw out of it. Seems poor.
Factory of course is bonkers and would probably be find to include.
Stocking Tiger is apparently being mass released and is no longer a $200 card.
For cube this seems bonkers. Draw 15 when he dies? ShiZAM (even if 8-9 of the 15 are useless; but in most cubes there's plenty of signets and 5 color color fixing).
There's so many good burn spells that chain lightning isn't really worth it. There's a sorcery speed 4 damage to a creature spell from ROE and lots of 2 mana and 3 mana instant burn spells. Also chain lightning has this really random drawback against red decks. No need to "splurge" on it.
The online cube was back in the day 6 tix. It was raised to 8 and I guess it was raised later to 10.
For some reason I didn't really enjoy the online cube. I think it's because drafting cube is more of a fun casual thing and there's zero social aspect online. All you ever get out of the other guy is "GL", "GG" and "OMG U NOOB HOW DID YOU BEAT ME?"
Scars was never very good because Poison. I remember I got a super awesome poison deck and round 1, my opponent drops sword of B/G turn 2 every time.
Also some of the bombs were super bomby, like Wurmcoil. Or the swords. A resolved sword if you didn't have a shatter effect RIGHT THERE was GG.
Monster is solid but boring. Since most red damage spells deal 3 it's not amazingly amazing compared to the many 3/2 for 3U. Transmuter is also a fun combat trick and on the turn you play it kills any creature with 3 toughness or less, often without itself dying.
Would be fine, but in a world without dual lands they are weaker terramorphic expanses.
The mirage fetches in new border are very pretty though, with their reprints in the duel decks.
The Owl is just bad. Too many better 3/3s for 5 with flying.
The barrier is pretty interesting. Probably borderline. It's either a combat trick or it nullifies two attacks or what have you. Most -X/-0 spells aren't good enough. Dismissal in a cube that can include the old counterspells isn't good enough. By the time you have spell mastery you might not be able to actually counter anything.
