At Mastermind's Acquisition, we see darkened, but otherwise quite non-damaged (save for a small pile of rubble) Sanctum of the Sun, Azor's "perch/throne" and all, and Vraska looking while the Sun is being planarbridge'd.
At Shake the Foundations, we see Zacama wrecking the Sanctum of the Sun in such a way that the Immortal Sun is flying to the right, half of the walls are non-existent and the "throne" is breaking.
There is no way how both of these cards can be canon. Or is there?
The only way I can think of is that Zacama would break into the vault the very moment when the Sun is being stolen, sends it flying and prevents it from being transported.
Thoughts?
The throne designs are different and the room looks more derelict than merely recently damaged (as opposed to the room we see Azor in which is well maintained). So presumably after Zakama knocks the Immortal Sun off it is moved to a different room for transportation. I doubt Azor would have been content to be confined to a single room when spending an eternity in a hidden but vast city.
But the E Mechanic comes from the use of the letter "E". So it has to be either a new symbol or a new frame code or something else that requires the use of a single letter in the design process. How would the vehicle/ride mechanic fit with that?
The way I am reading the transform trigger on Avacyn is not that it *causes* the transformation but that it *reflects*/*corresponds to* the transformation. Avacyn flipping happens when yout non-pure (i.e. non-Angel) creatures start dying. As it happens, they start dying because Avacyn is purifying the land but that aspect isn't reflected in the card until after she flips.
Thank you. So the partial sequence of events appears to be as follows:
1. Eldrazi get lured and trapped on Zendikar. Nahiri is unaware of any vampires on Zendikar.
1a. (Possible space for something relating to vampire history to occur outside of Nahiri's awareness)
2. Ugin and Sorin leave. Nahiri, still unaware of any vampires on Zendikar, hibernates.
3. Vampires are either introduced to Zendikar from the outside or otherwise appear.
4a. Vampires either appear on Zendikar as a free and proud race and are later enthralled by the Eldrazi from within their prison; or
4b. Vampires were created to be Eldrazi thralls in the first place.
5. In either case enthralled vampires worship the Eldrazi, disrupt the hedron network, cause Eldrazi to reappear and Nahiri to wake up
6. Nahiri becomes aware of vamprires and reseals the Eldrazi
7a. Either the unnatural enthrallment of vampires dissipates and they recover their original independent identity; or
7b. Their natural instinct to serve the Eldrazi is left unfulfilled with the Eldrazi unable to unfluence them and they develop a new identity
8. Sufficient time passes for Drana to forget the early parts of her history and she thinks of herself entirely in terms of independence and own identity. However, with the Eldrazi released again they are able to again enthrall many of the vampires.
After the unfortunate retcon of Nahiri's UR and their supposed feud with Sorin
I've read mentions to this a few times and I had read the original UR but possibly not attentively enough. What exactly was retconned? As in what did the article originally say and what was deleted/added?
It will be an article about the block structure. Next Monday is likely when we get the next Announcing... Arcana. We haven't had one yet and over the last 5 years the second set announcement was in July or August and always before the spoilers for the first set start.
Also the Wedge block has been mentioned by MaRo as one of the most requested themes. Since they've scaled back on how often they do multi-colour blocks, I suspect we'll see that before we see a return to Alara
Not for a while yet, though. He said that "The new evasion stuff we’re experimenting with is years in the future." It can't be *that* many years in the future - I think they only work something like 2 years ahead.
My current pet theory is that "Elkin bottle saboteur" ability will be introduced as an evergreen blue-red keyword on the basis that:
1. Maro said they are looking for an evergreen blue non-evasion combat keyword
2. I can't find the exact quote but I recall him saying something along the lines that by now they've tried all the obvious abilities and so the new keyword, if it happens, would be something they haven't done as a creature ability in blue before
3. They would prefer if the blue keyword could also be used by red
4. The strictly better Curiosity ability is a good fit but too powerful to be evergreen (http://markrosewater.tumblr.com/post/26893639118/as-far-as-creature-keywords-for-blue-why-not-just)
The counterargument is that it might be not NWO enough to be used at common. But I asked Maro on his tumblr and he didn't respond. Which, I know, is probably because he is swamped with questions. But it might be an argument that I got too close as in the past I've had quite a good record of him answering my questions.
I'm very confused about the activated abilities. I get the appeal of a toolbox, but I can't understand why the graveyard thing is there, it looks very random.
It's flavour:
Spring -> season of birth and growth -> adding counters
Summer -> season of heat and active wild life -> damage
Autumn -> season of harvest -> life gain
Winter -> season land is fallow but seeds of future life are sleeping -> graveyard to bottom of library waiting to be drawn
Devotion is retweaked Chroma because Chroma was an ability word and devotion is a keyword. The counting of symbols was something that the player themselves had to do in Chroma but with devotion the number is 'generated' as part of the keyword. Thus you could probably have something like "Modular - Devotion to black" but not "Modular - Chroma". Plus as someone above said devotion is more restricted as to what mana symbols it counts (all cards in play as opposed to Chroma which could count symbols in a single card).
Truthfully, I don't know if there is much more to say on the subject.
She's indestructible, so of course the damage wouldn't kill her.
What looks like a death blow for other angels is something she can just shrug off.
I think it really boils down to that.
Yes, that is true, but that basically reduces the whole plot off INN and DKA to one epic case of gullibility.
The only reason darkness threatened to overwhelm humanity was because Avacyn was in Helvault. Apparently it's not that difficult to destroy Helvault. The only reason it hadn't been destroyed earlier was because Thalia was guarding it. Which was only at behest of Mikaeus. Which was only because he didn't want anyone see Avacyn die. Which was only a concern because she was impaled by Griselbrand.
Everything boils down to the belief that Avacyn was not indestructible. For if she were, Mikaeus could have released her from Helvault.
Yes, that would have released all the demons... but that's exactly what's happened anyway and overall everyone seems much better off.
And 11/11 with infect is not the same as 20/20, not at all. Certainly not when -1/-1 counters can be passed out like candy. At least the lack of trample is something.
Sure. All I meant was that both can kill a player in one unblocked hit. That for me was the "essence" of Blightsteel Colossus. YMMV, of course.
IF you mean "striking" as in "broken", sure. There's a reason why large creatures like DSC, blighsteel, and the eldrazi have an anti-graveyard clause.
No by "striking", I mean elegant.
Anyway, are you suggesting that this is unbalanced at this cost or no-matter the cost? The latter I find difficult to believe. While there have not been any 20/20 creatures printed, there have been a few 2-digit creatures printed without the anti-recursion clause - Doomgape, It That Betrays and Supreme Exemplar.
And each of those has some way of getting the damage through, where as Steel Colossus, can be easily blocked.
Limb Compiler is immensely confusing. I'm still not sure I completely understand what it's doing. It probably needs to cost more, though.
Hm, OK. I knew that the rules were complicated but didn't expect it to be this difficult to grock. How about this:
Wrought Centimanus
Artifact Creature - Construct
When Wrought Centimanus comes into play search your library for any number of Equipment cards and put them onto the battlefield attached to Wrought Centimanus. Then shuffle your library.
1/1
How much should this cost?
My original plan was to have a way to have a slow build-up (a la Helix Pinnacle) towards a massive equipment-wielding monstrosity towards the end of the game. Hence the awkward wording on the original version.

Is that more or less correct?
