I regularly teach a class on computer science in science fiction, and his works always play a VERY large part. Heck, I have written many very long (e.g. 50+) page papers on Blade Runner/DADoES alone.

Artifact (C) ,t: Confuse target creature. (To confuse a creature, remove it from combat, tapped. It doesn't untap during its controller's next untap phase.) But... there *was* no spoon!
Rusty Nail3
Artifact Creature - Obstacle (C)
Deathtouch
Exile Rusty Nail face down. Whenever you are attacked, you may put this onto the battlefield under your control blocking target attacking creature.
1/1
The idea is that you could have multiple Obstacles exiled face down, and your opponent won't know what may come their way if they try attacking you. Had to make it a creature for simplicity's sake, since the rules associated with having a regular artifact block just muddied up the card.

Enchant creature
If enchanted creature would die, exile it instead. At the beginning of the end step, return it to the battlefield under your control. If you do, return Avoid Fate from your graveyard to the battlefield enchanting that creature. Faith is stronger than fate.

Enchantment - Aura

Enchanted creature gets +1/+2 and has Flying.
When enchanted creature dies, put two 1/1 White Spirit Creature tokens with Flying onto the battlefield.
Reworded it a bit to get rid of the original spell, although I had intended to just tack on new targets in addition to the original, but the new version might work better. Who knows.

Instant (R)
Copy target instant or sorcery spell that has a single target, then counter it. The copy now targets X targets that it could legally target. You may choose the new targets. Sometimes it's better to share the wealth... or the pain.
Malfunctioning HoldXR
Instant (R)
Counter target spell. Malfunctioning Hold deals X damage to you, where X is 20 minus X times 2. (Don't forget order of operations)
Same here, but it's an on-again/off-again type of love affair, as I don't have a regular group of players (since I've moved pretty much every year-two since high school), so aside from the occasional pre-release, a FNM now an then, and pick-up games with family (or in various air terminals)... it's pretty much loving from a distance. I used to be obsessed... now I just fondly remember that passion, and have found other things that occupy my time much more. Maybe after grad school, when I get another "big boy" job, and settle down
So... 2001. Let's see, that'd be Odyssey block? Sure... especially since one of my favorite cards ever, Traumatize made it's debut then.

Whenever a player draws a card, that player puts the top card of his or her library into his or her graveyard.
Threshold - Whenever a player puts cards from the top of his or her library into his or her graveyard, that player puts twice that many cards from the top of his or her library into his or her graveyard instead. Even under the Otarian oceans, two things still remain inescapable: death and taxes.

Enchantment (U)
When ~ enters the battlefield, turn each card you control face-down. Target opponent chooses one of those cards. If the chosen card is an egg, sacrifice it and that player may search their deck for a creature card and put it onto the battlefield under their control. If the chosen card is not an egg, that player must sacrifice a creature they control. Then, turn all cards turned face-down this way face-up.
