This is artwork that could be featured in an art gallery. Imagine that in foil up close. Wowzer.

You can have your little strawmen armies fighting each other all you want, but ultimately you do not control or dictate what people like or do not like. That's it. It' a shame people have to get vile to the point of dehumanizing behaviour but at the end of the day I like what I like and don't like what I don't like.

During Kaledesh all I wanted to do was to see the rest of the plane beyond the metal and filigree of the big city.
    WBG 100%

See that's the thing...there are so many planes that we know only a fraction of. We know dick all about Ixalan outside of the main continent and the Useless Island. We know very little about Ulgrotha, Amonkhet, Mercadia, Fiora...etc.

Know what Id like to see happen? Checking the other planet in Dominaria's system, Jinoue.

I'd love to learn more about what's out there beyond the central locations featured in our "introductory" visit. I get there's a multiverse of planes and universes to the nth degree, but let's try and get a feel for those that we already know of, or at least are hinting at revealing to us i.e. Shandalar, Vryn, Regatha, etc.

People are all about personal choice so long as it abides by their unique personal narrative.

Magic is what people want it to be, regardless of what others say to the contrary.

Speaking of power creep, MTG Historian had to remind people that Baneslayer Angel is in Standard. Baneslayer. A once OP card in its day.

Have things gotten so powerful that people forgot about Baneslayer being in a format alongside things like Eugene and what have you?

In the end as the crossovers become money makers it is far more likely that Magic will be an IP licensing vehicle more so than it's own thing. Companies don't stop when they make money and Hasbro/WotC see just how much they can make by pushing this out. They'll push it until something makes them stop either no more money coming in or, much like with loot boxes, regulations get thrown in and I don't see either happening any time soon with this.

Companies squeeze out as much money from something if sales are any indication of such. Which is why we haven't been seeing settings like Kamigawa or Ulgrotha as main settings lately since their respective inceptions.

However, I'm sure that if they were to one or both of those two back sales would be wild. (Although you could argue that Innistrad is the lovechild of The Dark and Homelands but I digress).

The consumer base is very fickle; I don't think they even know what they want. A lot of this is driven by emotion. That also holds relevance: What is important to you may not be important to someone else. You don't determine what ought to be "standard" in Magic in terms of how or why things get played/bought. All you can do really is play along and choose to opt out when able. WOTC is easily and undeniably playing into the financial reasons for this. They know people will buy it for the sake of having something in pop culture represented in MTG form.

Tired argument but it holds true. So who knows what will happen.

P.S: D&D is going to be a super popular set because of its tie in with D&D and that player base. It will probably be one of the best selling sets of all time. Watch.

That mill card is ******* insane!

There goes a good portion of Mono Red/Mono White libraries!

Flumpf is a cool name. Feels like the sound someone makes when the shuffler does stupid ***** giving land rather than the spell you need to win lol. As for mill, well, they have to make mill relevant once Throne-Theros-Ikoria-M21 leave standard in a few months. Yay?

Since we’re on topic, I’d love to see the War of the Lance characters like Taz, Raistlin, Tanis, Kitiara etc. Yeah baby.

Or, here’s one for you, the Sword of Truth series like Kahlan.

It seems like they're looking to get into Sci-Fi and this is their way of testing the waters for its feasibility.

The show has dealt with WOTC by featuring D&D in their episodes, so I guess this is a way of showing "appreciation" for doing so. *shrug* We'll see how it goes.

    Collectors will love it though.

telekinesis looks pretty magical to me, I could easily think at bounce/blink/taps/untaps mechanics to represent it symbolically.
heck, Portal 3 Kingdoms wasn't magical at all, and they managed to do an entire set of hundred new cards anyway. According flavor to mechanics doesn't seems an issue to me, even in non-fantasy contests. Creativity is the only limit.

Not only that but Arabian Nights is based off the 1001 Arabian Nights tales and WOTC doesn't even own that IP (source: wiki). So as I've alluded to before, Magic is a platform that enables this to take place. Like you say, creativity is the only limit.
