Allied fetches, WOTC's policy is to never have better enemy colored fixing than allied colored. Modern violates this rule with only enemy fetches. Wizards will print allied fetches in standard, it's just a question of when.

Is this still true? I thought the US had shot down most of the online poker sites.

No, the DOJ shut down Pokerstars, Full Tilt, Party Poker, and maybe a few others. There are many to play on in the US, but none have as much traffic as PS/FT used to. However, a lot of poker players have moved to tax haven countries or Canada to play online.

this is the biggest lie you could call your self. It is no different then "pro poker players". You would have to go to hundreds of tournaments in a year and hope that you win at least one to cover your expenses. It is not a viable career choice.

Let us do a little run down shall we.

People who play magic professionally have other sources of income. E.G. Writing, sponsorship, videos, etc.

There is a large stipend for platinum level pros to attend events. They are already making money by going to each pro tour.

Back when there was elo rating, players got 3 byes at 2050 rating, but there were many that were above this threshold. Now if the average elo at a grand prix is 1750, then a player at a rating of 2050-2200 can expect a win rate of 85-93%. So it is not as unlikely to win as you make it out to be. This is why you constantly see the same pros top 8 and top 16 pro tours and grand prix.

Thirdly, about being a pro poker player, many poker players, professional and semi-professional, make their income online. The more games you play, the less impact variance has on your overall income. You are able to play at high stakes with very minimal rake (none if you are sponsored by the site to play there) so you can make lots of money of a 2-5% edge. You do have to get lucky to win a live event, but the prize money is not the only reason why pros attend the WSOP, Aussie Millions, WPT, etc. If you'll notice, they advertise their sponsor on their shirts and get **** ton of money for it, especially if they sit at featured tables.

Sorry for the wall of text. Your comment was so absurd it needed to be addressed.

I would not say it is the best deck in the format, nor that it has no inherent weaknesses.

As a UWR Midrange player, it struggles against plenty of things

RDW or BR on curve is devastating. We do not have removal outside of Bonfire/Supreme Verdict to start removing a hyper aggressive flourish of creatures. Bonfire can be slow and clunky and like Supreme Verdict is something that can be played around.

    Play pillar of flame pls.

FAIL: This should be in rules. Sorry about that.

I have a Sovereigns of Lost Alara and Geist of Saint Traft on the field. Will the Exalted (attacks alone) trigger go off before the creation of the Angel token?

I just answered my own question by clicking the card name above:

New question: Can the Angel's exalted trigger be applied to Geist-y? Can I equip the aura card to the Angel?

Geist of Saint Traft gets the exalted triggers, not the Angel token. You can only put the aura on Geist.

Not outright card advantage. Yet they still replace themselves while dealing with a threat, even though it is only temporary. Temporary Card Advantage is Card Advantage.

If you have to cast a spell, and it gets returned to your hand WHILE the spell that did that cantrips (replaces itself), In order to reuse that spell you must cast it again, when had it not returned to hand, the mana used would be used on another spell. Basically you lose a move by having to repeat a move, Giving the other player a slight Tempo advantage. The other player lost nothing Card Advantage wise, and set you back.

So I guess they are "forced-opponent card disadvantage"

Please, stop trying so hard. It's painful to everybody.

If RTR is any indication, coiling oracle will NOT be repeated. This block is not FTV: Ravnica.

You can populate your angel just fine.

Wayfaring Temple triggers on your combat damage step.
The delayed trigger for geist of saint traft triggers on your end of combat step.

Even if they both triggered on the same step, you would be able to stack the triggers so that the populate ability resolves before the angel is exiled.

I had a super long post all typed up to explain my unhappiness about this "expansion". I decided the tl;dr version was better:

I have a playset of all the modern staples, because I've played standard faithfully for many years. I invested a lot of time and money to get them. I'm worried that the value of the bulk of my collection is about to drop significantly because of all the potential reprints.

Is it insane to e-bay all my modern staples before they get spoiled and re-buy them after their price drops?

    Magic is a card game.

Buy shares of companies if you want to make an investment.

    End of story.

Aaron Forsythe clearly has never played a game of poker.

This is clearly not even close to the stone cold nuts. Probably like the 15th nuts.

The stone cold nuts would have:

    Mutavault
    Wasteland
    Karakas
    All 5 onslaught fetches

    Augur is very good always.
Blocks random mana dorks. Blocks all of zombie's one drops. Blocks snapcasters and unflipped delvers. Blocks strangleroot once.
All of this defense while also netting you a card. He's very close to snapcaster, but with the role of blocking included.

Mana leak is just a very bad card in general right now, augur is the perfect replacement.
