I don't get why they design cards that can't reasonably be used outside of commander. Like a 4 CMC 1/1 lord. Why not make the condition something everyone can have fun with?
I did some research: with Torbran it's 3 damage to the x/1 and 5 to the player.
You first assign lethal and excess, then add 2 on both. Same would go for doubling, targeting an x/1 would give you 2 damage to the creature and 6 on the player.
It’s almost a shame this isn’t a block so that GRN and RNA could be drafted together so that all this gate stuff could combine.
I am kind of hoping that they use their newly created freedom from blocks to make the third set compatible with the previous two and have them be drafted together.

No need to get all snarky.

Council of the Absolute to make them cheaper,Minister of Inquiries to mill early, Drowned Secrets to mill with each cast and some card draw?Council of the Absolute doesn't work for creature spells, as mentioned below, but as also mentioned Grand Arbiter Augustin IV can take the job to make them cheaper.

That's not Magic sales, it's the whole gaming category that's down 20%. Still probably doesn't bode well.
