MTG Salvation

I've adjusted my CoolStuffInc wishlist cart total to be able to have Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet in place of Lashwrithe. As neat as Lashwrithe is on Gifted Aetherborn and Vampire Nighthawk, I just think Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet is much better, especially when I can create zombie tokens when opponents creatures die or I can sac any of my Vampire/Zombie creatures to him and make him bigger Plus he actually adds to the Devotion count unlike Lashwrithe.

Not a huge change, but it's enough to give a bit more strength to the deck. I like this list (just waiting for my birthday money haha) and I'll pull the trigger and see how it all goes!

It's more there as having an option to reanimate. But yes, in this deck, swing in with early creatures which will more than likely be taken out, then late game, bring it out, reanimate. The main focus is obviously to get the Devotion online and slam down Gary. If the opponent has put him or any other copies to the graveyard, he can come back via whip. It's handy against mill decks too since you'll have access to a wide selection in the graveyard haha

From what I hear, there's a bunch of Affinity around, but Im sure the usual suspects will be there (Tron, Jund, BWTokens, etc).

Yeah attaching Lashwrithe to either Titan or Erebos could easily close out the game if all goes to plan. Ah yes, I have the Ratchet Bombs in my cart I'm working on before I buy the cards, It's definitely going in the sideboard, just forgot to update it haha, I switch and change the main deck as I go and forget to update the sideboard all the time

D90Dennis14 - I completely understand those choices, but this is trying something a little different to typical MBC, I'll be ditching the 3 Duress for 3 Gifted Aetherborn though, seems like a solid move. I've noted Phyrexian Arena and Victim of Night for sure too plus the sideboard cards you mentioned which I definitley like the Nihil Spellbombs (completely forgot about those!!!) and Flaying Tendrills. The Fluff - I do have a soft spot for Lashwrithe and I like trying to work it into my mono black decks so I may try. Possibly instead of Desecration Demon? But yeah even though it's not as nuts as Obliterators, it's still a Beatstick and definitely is strong for adding to Devotion even though it's 1 less. Thanks for props for the deck idea!

Typical MBC, disrupt and control the opponent early game, then drop the bombs I thought I'd use Erebos as a theme, plus I can't afford Phyrexian Obliterators, so Erebos's Titan is the Devotion/Beatstick instead, Erebos for more card draw and Whip of Erebos to bring them back for more beatsticking Should be Fun!

I suppose the other question is that does an aggro deck need Inquisition of Kozilek? Having a first hand with Inquisition, Monastery Swiftspear and/or Bloodsoaked Champion would be tricky to choose what to play first. Inquisition is an excellent first turn card, but is getting the aggro on board more important or can it wait one turn?

Awesome, thanks for the response. Yeah that was my concern that he could be a bit slow for aggro as good of a card as he is. But Gifted Aetherborn and Scrapheap Scrounger will fit in both this and my mono black decks, so they'll both get added to the cart before I pull the trigger haha.

Hazoret would be wicked, just a bit out of budget ATM. I've looked at Rakdos, Lord of Riots. I may look at 2 of him at the most and keep Falkenrath Aristocrat at x4.

I think having x3 Scrapheap Scrounger or Gifted Aetherborn will be good as somewhat "utility" 2 drops and x4 Keldon Marauders for the aggro, which will fee up a spot for a 3rd Claim // Fame.

So I'm in and out of changes for this deck. It seems solid and I'm just about to pull the trigger on buying the rest of the singles i need for it. I have Gatekeeper in for both a body and a kill, (ahem...one of my fav cards since it came out also, and helped win me heaps of games). But I'm wondering if it's too mana heavy for Rakdos Aggro? I usually play it in mono black which curves out at 4cmc also and suits fine. Plus I'm running a swamp heavy build since I don't have more than 1cmc red source in all the red cards. I'm open to other suggestions though.

Would Desecration Demon be too slow for the deck to help curve out the 4cmc curve along with Falkenrath Aristocrat?

Claim // Fame seems fun with Keldon Marauders and Monastery Swiftspear, but should I focus on more tech? I was thinking since it's aggro, that having creatures out whenever I can would be the way to go. In saying that, having Bloodsoaked Champion, Monastery Swiftspear and Keldon Marauders to sac to Falkenrath Aristocrat and then using Claim // Fame to bring them back is pretty sweet!

Ah gotcha! Yeah I knew that it still had a huge chunk of the sets but it's definitely confusing with all the reprinting a etc. But that's cool, at least the reprinted cards can still be used and sometimes cheaper than the original printing, which is handy for someone like me getting back into the game with basically little to no card pool anymore haha. So what's the go with this guy!?! I've been looking for a B/R Planeswalker after using Sarkhan the Mad ages ago and now returning to MTG and saw this guy! 3cmc and makes a defender token and can sac it to kill an Artifact or Creature. That's pretty solid at 3cmc. His last power seems pretty nuts too. Multiple wurmcoil engine tokens?!

Why isn't he being used or have a deck built around him?

Another cheap deck I'm making and will play around with until my Mono Black card pool builds. The plan with this deck is to play out the artifact cards to have ammo for Syndicate Trafficker and hopefully having Darksteel Relic on board for Phylactery Lich. Duress and Smother, Gatekeeper help keep the opponents creatures at bay and Desecration Demon brings backup.
