I run 2 of cavern of the soul and can get screwed out of a spell early sometimes. I dont think the cost of eating up turns pumping him is worth it. By the time hes useful, you have not done much but pump him. By then they probably have a decent creature, or a way to kill your land. For the most part, The only time this is useful is when you pump it, and they totally forget and make bad decisions.
Because its kind of.. really bad in most cases. And how often is it totally dead? Ie you get mana screwed, or wiped out before you can get it out. Normal case scenario, you get wiped after laying it, and get in an extra 2-3 damage. I could of just run an extra bolt, or ember hauler or... yeah
I've really liked vexing devil in combination with bushwacker. Often times t3 you play devil, they let him resolve, you throw down your mana and bushwack. People dont expect a 5/4 with haste
I've been seeing a lot of shusher lately. Doesnt cavern take that spot pretty well without using the sideboard. Atleast In everything but james w/r list since it was "fairly" spell heavy
Vial actually does help that explosiveness, while helping to negate the sometimes too frequent mana screw. Think of it this way, t1 vial, or t1 guide. If all is ideal, lets just say t1 vial, t2 three guides. Or t1 guide, t2 guide guide. in one, you've gotten an extra 2 points, in the other, you are far more stable. If you dont hit a mana, its probably not going to matter anyways. I also run devil and tatturmunge maniac in my 1 drop slot, so, vial or not, theres always pressure.
Æther Vial, but how useful is the vial? I haven't played with Vial myself, but I find control MUs the easiest. Modern isn't legacy, and we wont have to worry about FoW and other broken counterspells.
I love vial, it allows for a really explosive turn. As you said, you can hold on to goblins and cause a huge attack, and vial just fuels that. It can often be a dead card, but in my experience, its been worth it.
I have to agree with homeland. Six mana is just too much to hope for to natural cast it. We can hope with bump, that six mana flashback is just gravy past our 3 damage. But thunderous is just dead most of the time, unless as stated, you have a way to ditch/draw on op's turn.
