Finally ordered some goyfs and I'm sleeving this up in the next few days. Looking forward to doing some testing and getting a good list ready for scg open in Charlotte in June. I think I'm going to start with 2 copies of Curiosity to give the deck a little more card advantage.
This election was between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton. Either way, a human being who has no business whatsoever being president is going to be president. Of course people are going to be frustrated with Trump winning, just as people would have been frustrated if Clinton won. I feel like everyone who is putting Mr. Trump on blast should probably direct their frustration towards the Democratic party for nominating her (and the same for the republican party if Clinton had won). Had the democratic party not cheated Bernie Sanders out of the primary, perhaps we're having a different discussion today.
This was a lose/lose scenario folks. Based on how our political system works, we were given 2 choices (2 choices that actually had a chance to win). Trump won and theres nothing we can do about it.
Greenwarded works, as well as Wildest Dreams from Kaladesh. It does exile itself, but you have some options with getting more than 1 card back from the graveyard. I would love to make this deck post rotation. Hopefully we can make it work.
Flame slash and Roast are probably going to be your best answer to Tarmogoyf (in a R/G deck). Dismember also does a pretty good job, but is terrible against the really aggressive decks.
His article is in premium, so I'm afraid I can't provide a link to it. He talks about changes to the R/G list for a bit, and then he talks about playing with different colors. He said he wished Crumble to Dust was in his sideboard for the Tron matchup, since he played against it 3 times in the tournament. He was also worried about flooding out, so he went from four to three copies of sylvan scrying and the talisman.
Gerry T posted an article about this deck yesterday and talked about some of the changes he would make. I definitely think this deck can compete in today's modern.
I love the list cespinar. Do you like the 2/2 split between Nahiri and Ajani? Do you think we can get away with not having any Anger of the Gods in the main?
Also, isn't Rest in Peace a nombo with Goblin Dark-Dwellers and Emrakul?
I've always thought Chained to the Rocks was a good answer to Tarmogoyf. Sure, Ghost Quarter is everywhere. But if they are saccing a land to kill my enchantment, I always thought that was a half-win.
Just watched Gerry Thompson play a 5-color bring to light deck at SCG Indy in round 1. He ended up winning the match 2 games to 1 over a red/green landfall deck (the landfall deck killed him on turn 4 in the second game). Looked pretty interesting.
As a 32 year old soon-to-be father (my wife is due in February), I have mixed feelings about this. I play magic mostly at the kitchen table with friends, but occasionally at sanctioned events (like GP Charlotte a few weeks ago). The (virtual) lifetime ban seems harsh, especially for a crime committed ten years ago. He served his sentence, paid his price, and has moved on. It seems fair that he should not have to keep paying for this over and over again throughout his life.
On the other hand, he is a registered sex offender. As a soon to be father, that changes everything in my mind. Our government (right or wrong) deems his offense to be public knowledge. Every American has the right to verify if there are registered sex offenders living in/near their home. There is a reason for this. It makes people uncomfortable and Wizards is no different. Wizards was forced to make a decision and they got rid of him. Maybe I would have thought about this differently in my 20's, but can you really blame Wizards for siding against a registered sex offender? Just my $.02
