I like the article, keep it up.
I really hope next article is not about pokemon, though...

Feb 16, 2012Tom posted a message on Entry #5 - Other People's Decks, pt. 1: You Bantstard!i'm not so sure about crusader. i personally like giest and kotr better, and they already take up a bunch of 3-mana slots. not to mention the swords and cliques (which i like better than crusader as well).Posted in: Rocko's Modern Blog
could be wrong, but it seems like it could make the mana curve rather awkward.
just my thoughts. when is the next blog entry coming? -
Feb 6, 2012Tom posted a message on Entry #5 - Other People's Decks, pt. 1: You Bantstard!i love this article, and the list. looking forward to something on GW jumanji, or a thread link.Posted in: Rocko's Modern Blog
as for the list... really liking it. though i would make these changes:
-1 geist
+1 kotr
(kotr is generally better, especially as you have no goyf, and 3/3 splits are very strange in general)
-1 land
+1 sejiri steppe
(even in legacy one of the most awesome things to do with kotr, it offers instant speed protection)
-2 rafiq
-1 sword
+1 pridemage
+1 gaddock
+1 something
(3 swords seems like a lot, and i never was a fan of rafiq, but i could be wrong about him not being so great)
seems good elsewhere, though only running 7 counters and no filtering makes the blue seem rather underpowered and clunky.
keep up the good work! -

that is how to use the tags as you were wondering. place the left on on the left side of your card/cards, then the right one on the right. remove the * for your posts.
also, whenever you make a post, see where the bold, italic, underline, color, etc. buttons are? if you go to the right, there is something that looks like the back of a card. that one and the two tho the right of it are a shortcut for doing the above.
sorry it's a little off topic, but i hope i helped! -

and yes, i agree with what you are saying. in that circumstance, i'd say the extra value of another toolbox card outweighs the small percentage. especially if the toolbox is a green sun's zenith toolbox. you technically have more than 4 zeniths in a deck, as they keep coming back.
however, this isn't always true. maybe you need to draw lightning bolt as much as possible (in which case then the 0.01% does matter). then you would have to reevaluate whether it is a good idea or not. -

my suggested place to have our group would be on mtgsalvation. if you go to outside magic > clans > playtesting groups, then we could make a thread for our playtesting group. i don't have facebook and skype and the like. -

who is going to help? sounds like a lot of work for a deck that doesn't seem at all constructed playable (imo, but then again i'm not hugely into T2). the deck seems like if it has it's lord then it's amazing; if not then it's just meh. -
Nov 7, 2011Tom posted a message on Food for Thought: Is 60 Cards Always Optimal?yah, eclipse. if you have a 4-of in a deck, you decrease the chance of drawing one by only 0.1%Posted in: Tom's Blog... Enjoy!
however, if you have less than 4-of a card in a deck, like one or two, the chance of not drawing one is decreased and the 61 cards becomes more relevant. but really, if you run less than 4 of that card in a deck, you obviously don't want that card too often in the first place. -

Nov 6, 2011Tom posted a message on Food for Thought: Is 60 Cards Always Optimal?but why? seems like jumping to conclusions by just standing by what you have ever known. i'm well aware that it increases your chances of drawing certain cards, and i mostly run 60-card decks myself.Posted in: Tom's Blog... Enjoy!
but if you look at the mathmatics of it, it really does only decrease the chances you draw any particular card that you have 4-of in a deck by 0.1%. using 61 cards you can twist other percentages to your advantage, and if you are smart about it the pros can outweigh the cons. - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.
Love your deck man, good luck next tournament
If you still want to play then we can.
Hazanko, you are aware that the non-dredge list is faster than the dredge list right? And even if they are about the same speed, non-dredge is more resilient, etc.
Pizzap is right, you either play no dredgers or a lot of them, and I'm convinced that none of them is better.
As for boggles, back to nature seems like a good option. Stuff like fleshbag or liliana can be played around in boggles, like fetching up a dryad arbor and such. Plus 3 mana is too much.
I run Varolz and Viscera Seer in my deck as sac-outlets, and that makes Essence Warden absolutely bat***** insane. I can repeatedly sac VVines, Bloodghasts, and most of all Gravecrawlers to gain huge amounts of life (As a side note, doing things like this also untaps VVines to block after combat). I've pondered even moving a warden or 2 into my maindeck, because they can be so incredible.
Bottom line is that Seer is one of the best cards in the deck and Essence Warden is a decent sideboard card with or without Seer.
I've found Gnaw to the Bone to be a bit slow / underwhelming, but it's probably better in a version that runs dredge cards.
I would agree that BOP is significantly worse if you don't run Varolz combo. But I think Varolz combo is the way to go, and I love turn 1 BOP.
As for lands I don't necessarily think that 20 is too much, but I do agree that 18-19 is do-able. I run 19. I made that cut back when I went up to 4 Satyr Wayfinder and 4 Birds. I could see 18 is a possibility but there's already times when I get mana screwed and feel *****ty.
I'm not scared of blood moon, it's a rarely seen card and I don't want to adjust my deck to it. I do run a forest and a swamp, and that's good enough for me.
With so little land, and often keeping 1 land hands, I think that Dakmor Salvage's cons outweigh the pros. I'd rather not play that card.
Since most VVine lists play very little or no disruption and instead focus on the GY and speed, trying to play a midrange deck with a stronger late-game doesn't really work with the strategy. We should be putting Zoo on the defensive and be explosive as possible. Damnation is also bad from my point of view for this reason.
I could maybe see cards like this as a 1-of in the sideboard, but I think we can do better than that. Most midrange decks such as BGx and hatebears are excellent matchups for us anyway, so damnation seems like "winmore".
One of the most important questions when you play magic is "who's the beatdown" and with this deck, it should pretty much always be us. We shouldn't be messing around with Sidsi, Purphoros, or other 4 drops
Trample doesn't really do much when you already have flying, so having both is unimpressive.
Which makes me think Hooting Mandrills and/or Tombstalker are better.
Cr1TiKal Mafia
Very flavorful, hopefully quite funny. Extremely dry humor. Based on the 'best youtuber of All Time'. I'll bust out the roles and flavor soon and have someone review it.
I was addressing his argument so I think what I said still applies, but yes you are probably completely correct that turn 2 crab is better, good point.
I'm ecstatic too see 2 top 16s, that's nice. I like both lists but would make changes. In the sultai list, the ziggurauts don't work with the sideboard, which bothers me, also faithless looting is just so nice. In the second list, I don't dig dredge cards like GGT, but maybe I ought to test it more. I also don't like 3 Tasigur or all the removal taking the place of Varolz.
Somebody asked about Forbidden Alchemy, and this is exactly why it's unplayable too, it's way too slow and not what we want to be doing on turn 3 or any turn for that matter. I've found Grisly Salvage to be too slow and that does more for less mana.
As far as Hedron Crab goes, again, if you don't want to play that in a dredgevine list with blue, you might as well not play goblin lackey in a legacy goblins list. It is weak and doesn't do anything until the turn after you play it. Birds of paradise or noble hierarch? Forget them, they also have the same problem. It's really silly logic... play the best cards, because if your opponent can deal with it, whatever, and if they can't, they are probably going to lose.
There was a poll taken of one million English teachers in 2009 that asked whether or not they believed this essay to be persuasive. All agreed except one, and she was fired from her teaching position shortly after, and she admitted to failing all her English classes in grade school. How she even got to be an English teacher is beyond any of the staff members at that school. Apparently all she did during the class period was go over the alphabet, and she constantly forgot which letter came after "S". The most professional essay writer in the world was also contacted and she was in complete agreement that this essay was a persuasive essay. So, coming from the experts, this essay is indeed persuasive.
Another undeniable study was conducted, and it showed that 100 kittens die every time someone reads through this essay and disagrees with it being persuasive. How terribly awful. This is yet another reason to agree that this essay is persuasive. The poor English teacher that was fired is now facing serious legal charges against not only the education system, but also animal rights. You don't want to end up like this lady. You should definitely agree with this being a persuasive essay.
This essay is 100% persuasive because it is trying to persuade the reader that it is persuasive. You cannot deny that. Logically, this is a persuasive essay. It even has fancy things persuasive essays have, such as a hook, pathos, ethos, and logos. This is a persuasive essay. I might even go as far as saying this is a GOOD persuasive essay. This is an essay and it is persuasive, or at least attempts very hard to be. And looking at all the results from many data points and heavy analysis, this is DEFINITELY a persuasive essay. You should agree, there is no reason not to.
