I wouldn't doubt small-town players. A group came to the current city I live in from a very small town and swept the floor with everyone. They were rude though, so they got banned.

A question such as this should not be in the competitive forums. There is a rules forum for these types of questions.

  • posted a message on Employment law question regarding breaks.
The other day I was doing my homework at work. Where I work, the day shift gets a dedicated 30 minute break, but the night shift does not, so we have to take some time when we can. I had just started my homework and I was only going to work on it for about 20 minutes, because I had other things that needed be accomplished. Now my boss told the higher up and I may be getting fired. Here is my states' law regarding breaks:

    Breaks
State law requires that each employee scheduled to work six (6) consecutive hours must have a thirty (30) minute meal or rest period, except in workplace environments that by their nature of business provides for ample opportunity to rest or take an appropriate break. The failure to give a (30) minute meal or rest period is a violation of State law only. There are no State or Federal requirements for additional breaks. The Federal Law does require breaks of less than 30 minutes in duration to be paid if the employer chooses to grant such breaks.

Since she interrupted my break and told me that I couldn't do my homework there, would I have a case? I should be able to give myself 30 minutes, without being interrupted and told I can't do that, which is pretty much telling me to not take a break either.

  • posted a message on [SCD] Massacre Wurm
The other day while I was facing off against Vamps I was getting my ass handed to me. My opponent had five creatures out and I was down to about 9 health, which would have been a next turn loss. I laid down the massacre wurm and took a chunk of 10 life. Though he could sacrifice all of the creatures to scry, I love the wording on the Wurm which says when a creature goes from the battlefield to the graveyard. So with this, do tokens that are sacrificed go to the graveyard as well? Idk, Ive always been happy to see this card in my hand and it saves me time after time. Its an awesome board sweeper against the current competitive aggro decks...plus the art is bad ass!

In testing against Boros, bringing in my extra BSZ and ratchet bombs seem to be doing the trick, 4 BSZ, 3 Bombs, plus GfTT and disfigure combat this deck well. You will get a good slapping early on, normally i'm below 10 life before i stabilse, but once they have played out their hand and you have wiped the board a few times, get a JtMS in and it's GG. It's not an easy match, but not something I'm overly worried about, KDW on the other hand is just so damn fast it's a lot trickier.

This is a great way to combat Boros. Also, I like that you bring up the point of being at low life. Many players start to lose hope and mentally give up. They get lazy with their decisions and they don't think things through before playing. There have been many times where I find myself below ten health, but I know that once I am stabilized, it doesn't matter if they are at 20 health and I am at 5, I will still win.

My most recent update to my list is instead of having 3 IoK, I have 4 and 2 Duress MB. I decided to take out SGO, because it seems every time I played him I either shouldn't have, or I feel bad for spending three mana on him. Either way, with the way the meta is shifting toward decks with key cards(Kuldotha, new Caw-go, Valakut still the same, UB Tezz) it is important to be able to get rid of many cards, and I am never sad to see one of these in my hand. Knowing what my opponent is going to do and their options is an excellent way to know what to save counters for.

Tcgplayer.com has been the best place I've been to. You get many vendors to choose from and you get the lowest prices. Its saved me hundreds. eBay is pretty good too.

I honestly think this deck is just something that came up unexpected and did well for this tournament. I don't think we will be seeing it top 8 too often in the future. Though, I may be wrong, we all are at some point.

  • posted a message on UB's war against aggro
At first, I wondered how I would deal with such a fast deck. Many people at my LGS love how fast and consistent Kuldotha is. In my meta, many people play aggro. Always about 3 goblin players, homebrews, vampires, elves, etc. I have learned that UB is so prepared for this though. It may suck to take out counter spells and utility cards, but maxamizing kill spells is the way to go. I have switched to being prepared for aggro, and just using my SB for control matchups.

Memorocide, Into the roil, counter it, or inquisition. It is difficult to deal with when the answers aren't in your hand, but if you know they have it and can expect then you can at least try to play around it.

If you want to keep to the massive burn strategy, use Kiln Fiend.

    He's another "all-in" creature.

You could also use bushwhacker. Kicking him turn 2 with a GG on board is 5 more damage, having ur opponent at 13 after 2 turns.

This seems to be reds biggest weakness: a lack of haste-playable creatures.

Actually, I have been using Kiln Fiend instead of Geopede. I have just not updated the list, and actually have quit playing it. I played it a couple more times, usually placing second, but I've decided to go with the recent Kuldotha build. So fast! Also, my play style is more on the control side now. But when I'm playing at my college Magic club, I always use a red deck. I try not to bring decks worth $400+ since most of the decks there are worth less than $10.

  • posted a message on [SCD] Massacre Wurm
After a bit of testing and playing in my local shop, I have decided to run 2 Grave Titans(instead of 3) and add 1 Massacre Wurm. My meta has shifted from being a Control ruled meta, to a more goblin/elves/boros/vampire scene, and there are also the times(as mentioned earlier) Avenger of Zendikar comes out. This card oddly draws crowds, especially when the match is going on for awhile and the aggro player just summoned a ton of creatures and there seems to be no hope for the control player. A Massacre Wurm comes in and, well, it massacres their life and board. It is a fun card, and I think it deserves a spot in an aggro heavy meta. And, by looking at recent tournaments, aggro is starting to make a much bigger appearance.

Don't worry about being with a girl. I went through a 2 1/2 year relationship straight into my current relationship which is going on 3 years and by now I've learned that relationships suck. Yeah, they are great at first, but when you get to the point where you are in college all the girl does is hold you back. I have a daughter with this girl, which is why we arent separated. It is too late for me, but you still have time. Escape while you can!!!

Yeah, I guess I can see how he is overkill. Not only that, but I guess by the time UB has six mana the board should be almost clear and a Grave Titan should be making his way on to the field.
