My suggestion is to wait for more cards. There has only been one set out of three that features infect, so it won't really be a viable deck until more cards come out. The only thing that I would change would be to throw in 3 jace beleren and 4 Distortion Strike (which is really the reason you play U/B).
If I have an attacking creature, and my opponent assigns a blocker, can I cast an instant to remove my opponents creature and have my creature deal combat damage to my opponent?
Wall of omens works quite well when it is used with Venser, the sojourner or against a super fast aggro deck. The only problem it runs into is that it can be easily replaced. In my opinion, squadron hawk gets you more for a 1W in CA (especially when combined with Jace, the mind sculptor's brainstorm) Then you have sea gate oracle who for one more mana gives you an extra 1 power and better card selection. Right now, I wouldn't put wall of omens at more than a 2 of right now, I would test out some hawks or SGC.
I'm trying out esper control with venser at the helm. Black gives him a few great cards to bounce in skin renderabyssal persecutorgrave titan Obviously you would only bounce abyssal to either untap or if you opponent has negative life. Blue and white also have a few easy choices in wall of omenssea gate oracle and gideon jura With this build, you can also go heavy on the control, which could make the deck competitive. Here is my build:
I really like Grand Architect but I don't think it has it's place yet. Once artifacts become a stronger archtype, people will begin to realize how powerful the card is.
Okay everyone! I've been working on this esper control deck lately because of my inability to choose between U/B and U/W control.
I love cards like Gideon Jura, but I think Abyssal Persecutor is amazing. I've put together this deck list, and I'm looking for some suggestions to make this deck competitive.
I've been looking into the two major control decks (U/B and U/W) and noticed that both sides have certain appealing aspects.
U/B:
Cheap Discard
Great Finishers (Grave Titan and Abyssal Persecutor)
U/W
Great Planeswalkers (Gideon, Venser, Possibly Elspeth)
Removal that targets everything (unlike most black removal)
I came to the conclusion that a deck that could combine all of these different aspects would be virtually unstoppable. I quickly threw together a prototype deck:
This deck is many based off of the first ability of venser, but it does not have to be that way. I know that a common comment will be that the mana base is unstable, but after a good amount of testing, I found that it is surprisingly reliable. The only real problem I am having is balancing Removal/small creatures/high mana cards. Thank you for your suggestions!
