This would be ok at maybe 720 if you are looking to add some redundancy for the Domain archetype. I think Seal of Fire is underrated. Id play that over this in most cases.
I dont think this card is at all playable in a higher power cube. Ive tried it and thought it was pretty terrible. FWIW Aragorn is far better in this role.
There are a lot of good equipment made over the past 4 years. This card has gone up in my book as well. There are now two top end cards to pair with it, and a lot of good utility equipment to fetch.
I can see cutting a card for power level but not because of boredom, unless your group is fine with playing with worse cards. I would think most players would want good cards in their decks.
I think this is only playable in a deck with workshop or academy (and a couple other fringe artifact decks).
I don't agree with this take. I think you're looking at this too much as a mana sink and not enough as a modal 2 drop that can go crazy with token generators. The value of this card doesn't come from how much mana you can pump into it, but with how many tokens your deck can pump out. It's rarely going to scale beyond 5 mana, but that's not unrealistic since green pairs best with this since it has the best combination of ramp and token generation. It's a pretty reasonable 2 drop considering the 5 mana mode it has , this is essentially a different take on Intrepid Adversary really.
This is the correct take on it. Its only good enough if you support a W/X token deck. In that respect it is definitely something I would consider.
