Gizlivadi posted a message on [lost caverns ] first of the blessedAs a Spanish descended latino (my maternal surname is Álvarez) I don't mind the conquistadors being vampires. Actually it's a great flavor win if you think about what a vampire is and what they represent. And even though they are clearly bad guys, they are still really cool, though I hope they throw some pacifist/sympathetic vampires into the mix, just like not all spaniards who came to America were bloodthirsty murderers (the conquest wasn't just a military campaign, it was a mass migratory moveme t and people fromall walks of life came here). Finally, as a spanish speaker, the name Clavileño is kinda funny/awkward sounding, like clearly it was people who don't speak spanish who came up with that name.Posted in: The Rumor Mill -

MadRobot posted a message on [CUBE][WOE] Restless CottageWhen it comes to manlands, being able to survive combat is a huge deal. While the lack of evasion leaves a lot to be desired offensively, Restless Cottage is only second to Stirring Wildwood when it comes to blocking (factoring in activation cost). For that reason alone, I prefer the Cottage to Hissing Quagmire. The attack trigger is just icing on top.Posted in: Cube Card and Archetype Discussion -

It'll be in The List at a future date.Quote from Kryptnyt »Arden Angel seems pretty neat, I'd love it if it showed up on The List, you know someone's gonna build some legacy pox deck with arden angelsQuote from Mothership »Arden Angel will follow the same rules as our other mechanically unique Secret Lair cards and be globally available in boosters through The List in the future. -

Lectrys posted a message on [UNF] Pietra, Swinging Ship, and the complete setPosted in: The Rumor MillQuote from Kryptnyt »With Autograph Book, is there already a signature in the art? Does it count towards the number of counters you get if so?
The release notes heavily imply that the signature in the art does not count and you need to kick-start the party by signing that card yourself. - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.

Greater Good - your commander is cheap and potentially very big, and discarding permanent cards enables it
Smokestack and Grave Pact can be great value engines that keep the board clean
golgari grave troll is the dredgiest card
Sewer Nemesis is very big and mills you
I like that Life From The Loam is already in the deck. Definitely goes hard if you include Exploration, Burgeoning, and fetches in the deck, though that can be an expensive avenue of upgrading the deck.
The new Squirming Emergence card seems absolutely stellar for reanimating your Altar of Dementia or the like.
Finally I'd recommend Living Death and Bojuka Bog

Is Latinx just a way of saying "Latino or Latina or Latin-other?" To include all three in the same group. Traditionally you'd say Latinos to refer to everyone in the group, and that works, but some might reasonably accuse it of being sexist. Shrug
I agree that D&D rakshasa are different from the magic ones, and even though they are indeed shapeshifters, their true form is as a cat-humanoid. The Tarkir ones can really be anything they want them to be.
I think the reason "Tribal" is a problem is a little more sinister than you guys describe. People speak of tribalism and culturalism as a reason for why racism is perpetuated and why different cultures don't integrate well into the American system. It's a good discourse to have because we need people to come together and stop hurting each other, but not everyone is ready to talk about it, and certainly not during a preferably politically agnostic/neutral game of magic.
On nagas becoming snakes- They probably should have been. It would be nice to see Viashinos become lizards. Maybe some zombies and vampires that are clearly human can become Human Zombies/Vampires since we have Elf Zombie/Vampires, Cat Zombie/Vampires, etc. Just more consistency would be great.
