It's interesting to hear what sort of worlds form in other peoples nights whilst they sleep.
Do you ever find yourself getting, not so much a recurring dream as much as just finding yourself in the same places in dreams, as if the dream exists in a world itself that you visit each time?
It might just be the robotussin talking, but I can't help but think that there's some kind of actual alternate reality to dreams.

Oct 4, 2008JollyTheOctopuss posted a message on Stop overextending!Although I do totally hear ya on overextending being the sign of a crappy player. In the same vein, with Damnation rotating out and Wrath Of God really not being a terribly common card in decks these days, I could see where people might be a little more willing to take chances.Posted in: Surging Chaos's Realm of Ruination
of course I'm just assuming you're playing standard since I figured Aggro is probably pretty rare in extended and doesn't even exist as a concept in type 1 where creature damage probably doesn't even exist. -

I personally like that old fashioned version of fairy decks with Mistbind Clique as a lock. Probably slow compared to the actually tournament winning fairy decks, but whatever.
Spellstutter Sprites are always cool. -

He just had such style and presence whenever he was on the screen. The way he carried himself, the things he said, it was all just so totally hot and badass.
I'm not even usually a fan of mainstream superhero kinda movies, but The Dark Knight was just awesome and Heath was amazing in it. -

Regarding the titles. It's a subtle thing, but there's a connection. You see, thee Carrotop, he is funny american stand up comedy man like myself as portrayed for the duration of this post. So it is to say, that I could be like him as well, what with comedy. But you know, he is not funny, and neither am I.
It's that sorta thing. Chairman of the board was pretty badass though. I love the part where the fat guy from beetlejuice makes a traveling vomit bag that he vomits into. That sorta made the movie for me. -

You got a whole buncha 0 drops so a decent hand might be something like
1st turn: Mountain, 3 Zero drops, sac all three play Dargo.
2nd turn: Have some ramp to play Jeska and swing for game
And turn 2 lethal is preeetty common tbh, turn 3 lethal has gotta be like 80%+ chance. Of course stupid losers playing dumb cards like STP, FOW, Pact of Negation, Path To Exile and other such things really suck to play against but screw them for plotting against me personally for some reason.
Turn 1 isn't common but it can happen. Basically need to get to "8RRR mana" (counting each 0 drop played as 2 mana towards that) and have one of the spells that costs 1 red and can give haste.
Turn 1: Jeweled Lotus, Lotus Petal, Mana Crypt. Add all the mana, sac everything. Play Dargo/Jeska and Reckless Charge Dargo
Would work and thats just 4 cards. Heck you dont even need a land!
Some card choices and cool interactions:
Treasures are cool! They're basically a Lotus towards Dargo. As each one sacs to reduce him by 2 and adds a red. Prized Statue is really cool here as it just takes Prized Statue and any other artifact/creature on board to reduce Dargo by 6 and leave another treasure to help play Jeska.
Skirk Prospector is basically a treasure here and can make your other goblins treasure as well and set up some really cool plays. Lion's Eye Diamond and Jeweled Lotus essentially add 5 towards Dargo. A lotta times you can drop so much of your hand that LED is only costing you 1-2 cards anyway.
Rituals are there cause you'll just often need that 1 extra mana to play Jeska a turn early or even on the same turn as Dargo with enough stuff. I tried to keep the removal cheap or free since you'll often be tapping each turn and its nice to get rid of early blockers so they dont get another chance to untap and draw removal.
The "combo" with Phyrexian Altar is if you've already sac'd 3 things towards Dargo that turn and then you play and sac Dargo to altar he adds a red mana and reduces his own cost by another 2, so you can play him again for the one red you just added from alatar and sac him infinitely and so on. This makes Jeska lethal the next time you play her since you've just played your commander a million times. Just be aware you'll always have to had reduced Dargo to one red already before you sac him to the altar for it to go infinite. Thermopod can be another Altar. Engineer can grab the Altar.
Its fun upsetting people by doing the one thing everyone hates when you do in MTG.
But yeah, ideally if all goes well you play early threats like Thalia, Ranger and Kirin and than blow up everyone's land by casting Ugin's Conjurant for 0 while Kirin is out (Its SUPER funny if the opponent only had lands and tokens out) if you have board advantage.
You can sometimes use Kirin/Ugin thing to take out other CC stuff but obvsy lands are the most fun.
4 Birds Of Paradise
3 Thalia, Guardian Of Thraben
3 Luminarch Aspirant
4 Ranger-Captain Of Eos
3 Thalia, Heretic Cathar
4 Celestial Kirin
4 Path To Exile
4 Eladamri's Call
4 Dismember
Armageddons:
4 Ugin's Conjurant
Lands:
4 Windswept Heath
4 Temple Garden
4 Sunpetal Grove
4 Branchloft Pathway
3 Flagstones Of Trokair
5 Plains
I mean that being said, it's had a decent enough win rate. Well timed removal on what's keeping all your lands mountains sucks but if they dont got it, I can get pretty consistent turn 4-5 wins.
But yeah, the intention is just kinda trying a diff approach at valakut.
Not this doe!!
Just play all the lands! Hopefully they've all become mountains sometime before you've played your sixth and then just play all the lands. PEW PEW!
4 Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle
20 Forest
Ramp:
4 Expedition Map
4 Sakura-Tribe Elder
4 Sylvan Scrying
4 Harrow
4 Scapeshift
3 Ranger's Path
4 Dryad Of The Ilysian Grove
3 Scute Swarm
4 Prismatic Omen
2 Summoner's Pact
Furnace really helps but even without it the Stuffy Doll effect guys can still turn all your removal burn into cool undercosted to the face burn and just 1-2 Skreds can deal a lotta damage.
4 Lightning Bolt
4 Skred
4 Mine Collapse
3 Slagstorm
3 Earthquake
Creatures: 11
4 Boros Reckoner
4 Brash Taunter
3 Stuffy Doll
3 Coldsteel Heart
4 Furnace Of Rath
Lands: 24
4 Mouth Of Ronom
2 Faceless Haven
18 Snow-Covered Mountain
4 Dismember
4 Rolling Vortex
4 Abrade
3 Apostle's Blessing
4 Esper Sentinel
4 Gingerbrute
4 Metallic Mimic
4 Steel Overseer
4 Servo Exhibition
4 Chief Of The Foundry
4 Sram's Expertise
4 Path To Exile
4 Oblivion Ring
Tempered Steel
4 Tempered Steel
Lands:
4 Blinkmoth Nexus
4 Urza's Saga
16 Plains
Heh, the other similar goofy combo I tried back in Kamigawa standard was using liquimetal coating on a land and then hitting it with splinter, hopefully after other land destruction at the time already had them damn to 3- land.
Im def gonna find some space for Legion's End.
Crab was feeling out of place and that seems like the perfect replacement! Much thanks for the input!
It's pretty silly and I dont really expect to take this to hardcore tournaments but I like the general idea.
But yeah, basically just try and survive until you can mill 15 artifacts and hopefully win with MB.
4 Chromatic Star
4 Chromatic Sphere
4 Aether Spellbomb
4 Mishra's Bauble
4 Mesmeric Orb
4 Drift Of Phantasms
4 Mirrodin Besieged
4 Thought Monitor
4 Treasure Vault
4 Darksteel Citadel
4 Mistvault Bridge
4 Razortide Bridge
8 Island
And yeah, as for the Planeswalkers, they're definitely like just in there for the moment cause I couldn't really think of any other "finisher". I've actually been able to tutor into the combo and play it fairly consistently, I just need a way to like actually finish the game before they just start playing lands and threats again.
But im def looking for like a more consistent wincon, even if it some other combo or something to just wrap the game up once the combo goes off. And yeah, def worth picking up Natural Affinity. Last I checked it was under a dollar on TCGplayer.
Of course you're totally boned and everything goes out the window if they happen to be running all snow too but...lets just hope they don't.
I like the combo itself but im still not sure of an actual wincon for just in case the opponent doesnt just immediately scoop when you pull it off. ATM planeswalkers come to mind. Just cause they'll survive the board wipe and can kinda be removal and wincons themselves. I'm actually kinda liking old ass original Liliana Vess here just cause she can tutor and potentially be the wincon after everything is wiped.
But yeah the idea is just try to survive and tutor for the pieces and hope you can get to 6 and pull it off.
Here's what I have atm:
4 Natural Affinity
4 Dead Of Winter
Removal/Disruption: 8
4 Assassin's Trophy
4 Thoughtseize
Tutors: 8
4 Grim Tutor
4 Dimir Machinations
4 Coldsteel Heart
3 Liliana Vess
2 Ob Nixilis Reignited
2 Lilana, Dreadhorde General
Lands: 24
4 Woodland Chasm
4 Verdant Catacombs
4 Faceless Haven
9 Snow-Covered Swamp
3 Snow-Covered Forest
I really love the interaction between Chandra, Acolyte Of Flame and Koth Of The Hammer. Like I've found if I can get Koth's ulti off on turn 5 it's almost always game since you can kinda mow down everything after that. And Chandra Acolyte has been cool with Torch Of Defiance as well. I've def had games where I was able to have Chandra Torch and Koth's emblems out at the same time and still have both of them on the field from Acolyte ramping up their loyalty.
I'm trying Light Up The Night as sort of a weird, "I wonder if this will be cool at all?" 2 of...idk might cut it but it has once down the cool trick of suddenly dealing 12+ damage outta nowhere but im not sure if its consistent enough.
4 Glorybringer
Planeswalkers:
4 Chandra, Acolyte Of Flame
4 Koth Of The Hammer
3 Chandra, Torch Of Defience
Removal/Burn:
4 Lightning Bolt
4 Skred
4 Slagstorm
2 Light Up The Night
4 Coldsteel Heart
3 Blood Moon
Lands:
16 Snow Covered Mountains
4 Faceless Haven
4 Scrying Sheets
4 Kozilek's Return
4 Relic Of Progenitus
3 Shattering Spree
3 Boil
1 Blood Moon
Lol, looking at my own list you're already running most of the stuff that like immediately pops into my head like, "Ohhh, this is especially good here!!".
Other stuff I really loved is like:
Metallic Mimic
Doubling Season
Triumph Of The Horde
Random stuff I run in most green or black decks I personally really like but dont see people run that often.
Mind Shatter
Plow Under
Casualties Of War
Not sure if Beacon Of Creation is quite as cool as it might be other places since you dont really have that many forests.
Like pretty simple idea, mostly green but since you can fetch lands easy while you're ramping it's easy to splash a lil.
Cast ramp spells to ramp into early big threats like Wrenn, Koma, or big Starnheims. Scute Swarm early can be a cool threat and works well with the Echoing Equation side of Augmenter Pugilist.
Alrund's Epiphany with a decently sized threat out followed by Echoing Equation the next turn can be really cool. But you know you can just use it to attack twice with big stuff for game too.
The ramp has a nice synergy with the deck and there's a nice number of scary things to ramp into. I really think Augmenter Pugilist shines here as it's a decent early threat, a scarier late threat and even an Overrun effect if the board is ready for it to turn your lil Epiphany birds and Scutes into 4/4 flying angels or 4/4 trample trolls or if stuff is cool big ass Komas or 8/8s.
4 Augmenter Pugilist
4 Scute Swarm
3 Starnheim Unleashed
3 Wrenn And Seven
3 Koma, Cosmos Serpent
4 Emergent Sequence
4 Roiling Regrowth
4 Vastwood Surge
Other Stuff: 6
4 Fateful Absence
3 Alrund's Epiphany
10 Snow-Covered Forest
2 Snow-Covered Plains
2 Snow-Covered Island
4 Branchloft Pathway
4 Barkchannel Pathway
2 Vineglimmer Snarl
