bacl is not an idiot. There are a host of reasons to not shop at Wal-Mart. Watch the documentary "Wal-Mart: The high cost of low prices" and then get back to us. Even adjusting for bias, the documentary is an eye-opening look into how, even for a massive corporate entity, Wal-Mart is run by a bunch of a-holes that have gutted small town america, treat their employees like crap, and all manner of other reprehensible things. Screw Wal-Mart indeed. They make greedy a-holes look like saints.
I don't really get how PDS Fire and Lightning is considered "bad." If you don't have ANY of those cards, which I didn't, it was totally worth it to buy four. There was some chaff, TO BE EXPECTED, but really, bad? Chain Lightning, Price of Progress, Barbarian Ring, Figure of Destiny, Fireblast, Keldon Marauders, Lightning Bolt, Mogg Fanatic, Ball Lightning, Hellspark Elemental, Grim Lavamancer, and Boggart Ramgang are all good cards AT WORST. And that last bit was for wags who would say that Ramgang, Hellspark, and Fanatic are no longer relevant. On the whole it was a good product. Should we hope that each PDS that follows is as good as Graveborn? Yes. Does that make Fire and Lightning "bad?" No. Jesus you people have entitlement issues.
I'm gonna go ahead and be that guy and point out the "they'll never change the card backing" etc. statements that people like making, and that are inevitably reminded that in life, and especially in profit motivated tcg's, there are no absolutes.
I dunno. For me it boils down to Blue usually gets cards like Mental Misstep and Flashfreeze, while Red gets cards like Gut Shot and Combust. Quite yer so and so folks. A crumb dribbled off the high and mighty table of Blue and fell to the sad rabble (myself included) that likes Red.
Sigh. The cash grab argument. I'm not a huge fan of capitalism in general, but it IS aggravating to hear these sorts of comments. When WOTC gets to the level of sayyyy, I dunno, Activision, EA, or Gamestop, THEN we can complain about cash grabs. But simply because they aren't giving you ENOUGH freebies you wanna whine about it? Yay first world problems.
I like how everyone ignored the guy who posted the image from Steam, where it STATES THAT HE'S FROM RAVNICA. Well done as always MTGSalvation, well done.
Yes, that's true. However, from the perspective of dealing damage to both your opponent and killing of a creature, you do get TWO effects for ONE card, which I think we can all agree is better than one effect for one card.
Obvious post is obvious. I'm a simple man, wot can I say.
Except that Condemn doesn't give you life based on your creature's power, but on its toughness. So you'd only go back up four life. So Condemn would be a problem. Sadly.
So no one listens to the I Want My MTG podcast? 'Cause that's who one of the guys is. Pretty good podcast, they tend to stay on topic most of the time, which I always appreciate.
Ya know there ARE people who work and earn their money to buy those cards themselves. I'd wager there are more of them than there are of the spoiled rich kids.
That being said, it would be awesome to see a complete and updated list of pauper archetypes. I DO have the money to spend on expensive Type 2 cards, but am now looking into other formats. Pauper seems interesting.
The assertion you make about the ebay prices is...interesting. I just did a search, and the last ten auctions sold for:
30
29.99
25
35
30.79
29.75
29.50
32
27
29.99
So on the DAY of it being street legal, the prices are holding pretty steady around 30 bucks. Whether or not it will see standard play, who knows. But on the ebay prices front, you happen to be on the wrong side of the argument.
I'm really hoping it is confirmed, as I would prefer not having to track down a promo.
