Same thing happened to me, lost a very close game 3 to RG monsters in the semis. Immediately after losing, I went to the commons box and dug out a few Encase in Ice.
I guess the question is, are there still enough creatures that are seeing play which need to be removed from the battlefield permanently, rather than temporarily, to make Dismember a necessity?
Along with Spellskite which you would certainly prefer not to come back, Dismember is very good at dealing with Deceiver Exarch and Pestermite for just 1 colorless mana (which can be quite relevant when they flash in a guy at the end of their turn and tap down a land).
3. What is your sideboard plan for beatdown matches?
My local meta turned very aggro a while back, and I responded by running 4 Lagonna-band Trailblazer and 4 Ordeal of Heliod main deck. I also have 2 Triton Tactics in the side for anything that I think can out race me. With these changes the deck is brutal against aggro. I am more worried about UB control.
The top 8 SCG Richmond Modern IQ is up and Infect placed 2nd running the CFB Pantheon's version of infect (which includes the 4 copies of BI and 4 probes).
Wow, I still can't believe these decks are not running Groundswell! Tyler Hill and Orry Swift ran Groundswell in the Pro Tour with great success, with Tyler Hill getting the best result for Infect in the modern part of the tournament. It just seems crazy to me to run 4 Become Immense and no Groundswell (rant over).
I thought about creeping corrosion but it just has too high of a CMC for infect.
I have been running 1 Creeping Corrosion in the sideboard for a while now, to complement the 4 Nature's Claim, and I have found it to be a great insurance policy against Affinity, and occasionally against some other random decks like Tezzeret.
Has anyone considered 4 Apostle's Blessing? in place of Spellskites, which I am seeing a lot of decks using 2 in main, because of Wild Defiance?
In some ways running a full playset of Apostle's Blessing is faster and more reactive than running a 2/2 split with Spellskite. I think it is personal preference really.
If I were to use only Khans fetches, how would I fill my 9 slots? I was thinking 4x Windswept Heath and 4x Wooded foothills but I'm not sure about my 9th fetch land. I was hoping I could get some expert advice!
Center Soul looks like a straight swap with Feat of Resistance. It is going to be great when they try to kill our guy on their turn, we save it with Center Soul and then get to rebound on our turn for a free evasive swing.
Gleam of Authority does look very interesting! Vigilance and the ability to keep growing the creature seems awesome. The ability is like an instant version of Outlast, which combines very well with Vigilance. Probably not great in multiples though.
Glaring Aegis looks like a good addition too. For 1 mana it essentially gives the creature +2/+4, which gets all of our creatures out of Roast Range very quickly. Then on top of that it also taps down a blocker. Seems very good for 1 mana.
For those waiting for Modern Masters 2015 before committing to Noble Hierarch, I definitely think it is worth running fetches, Breeding Pool and Blighted Agent, instead of going with Mono Green.
Hey guys. I'm gonna post a tournament report for the SCG Modern Open that I played in this week. This was my first Open and my first big Modern event. Overall, I had a pretty decent run, learned a lot, and had a lot of fun! For starters, this is the deck that I ran.
In the player profile section was this question: Knowing the decks you’ve faced, would you have made any changes to your deck?
Sideboard: -1 Piracy Charm, -1 Carrion Call; +2 Dismember
Dismember was absent from the pantheon lists in the Pro Tour. It seems particularly useful with the growing popularity of the Splinter Twin decks, and of course to kill Spellskite. It is also a great card in the mirror.
Thanks guys. He didn't say anything until I questioned it, so basically what you have said is what I thought, there is no way to discern that he had finished searching, and he is quite entitled to shuffle his deck during a search.
A while ago I was playing in a GP and my opponent cracked a fetchland, he selected a land from his deck, put it down on the table then proceeded to start shuffling his deck. While he was doing this he looked like he was deep in thought, then he picked up the land he had placed on the table, selected a different land from his deck and started shuffling again. I told him that I didn't think he could do that, and he told me that he was 'just moving cards around'. The guy seemed convinced that he was allowed to do what he did, and I didn't call a judge.
I have always wondered if I should have called the judge, and what the correct ruling should have been.
The deck is still awesome, and I will be playing it until rotation.

Just run another Breeding Pool.
