I run Reckoner in my paper build, but I did not really want to buy in online. It is okay in this deck, but I really don't miss it when I am testing on MTGO.

Quote from krichaiushiiI am a fan of Kaervek.
My version runs additional enchantments, particularly Last Laugh, Exquisite Blood, and Rain of Gore.
Ramp is common in my meta, so I have responded by adding Tunnel Ignus, Ankh of Mishra, Acidic Soil, and Zo-zu the Punisher.
Your targeted discard is vicious in a duel, but might be better as something else for multiplayer.
Oh, giving infect to Kaervek really irritates people.
I like Midnight Banshee and Grim Poppet alongside Kulrath Knight and will be stealling that idea.
Cheers!
I actually have a better and longer version that I am trying to get published.Quote from germandrafterA very interesting read. Thx for sharing.
Two reasons-Quote from KamotzI really want to get a build like this going in Standard format. I think it could be insanely fun. Throwing out more and more Drakes. Unfortunately there's no Iscron Scepter in Standard, I don't think.
But for this build, why no Mana Leak? With Isochron Scepter it seems...so brokenly abuse-able.
I was looking at the apps on offer last night and yours did look clean, but if you hadn't said so I would not have known you had that feature. I could have missed it in the description though. I also like your pricing structure and how clearly you lay it out. Some looked pretty expensive if you wanted to maintain a large collection.
Note: that is not an endorsement. I haven't downloaded any of them yet. That is simply my impression from the iTunes App Store.
Soooo...Norway or DRC?
I think social and legal boundaries are often too specific to geography for most of the people (including myself) to give advice in this case. Even here in the US regional differences can make for huge differences in how communities police themselves. In the end you and the people you trust in your community are the best judge of what is appropriate in this situation. You may get it right, you may get it wrong, but some MTG player from the US or Lichtenstein will almost never be the right judge of that.
I may be reading between the lines a bit, but my understanding is that if (for example) a future set called Return to Return to Innistrad had Liliana and Garruk PW cards in the main set, we would see more Timmy versions of them as well in these decks because it is a direct tie in to current set. That would mean that there would be at least two Liliana and two Garruk legal in standard at that time.
I really like this idea, but the one thing that I am a little concerned about is them using up design space too quickly. Even though it will be design space that they normally don't use for Standard PW, it still feels a bit too fast. It'll probably be fine though.
As soon as I read this I said to myself "signofzeta is going to have an opinion about this." I assumed you would hate the loss of the thing you primarily collect in Magic, and I was honestly hoping for an overly elaborate scheme to ameliorate that. I don't spend much time thinking about intro decks, but when I do I think about signofzeta.
I think you're dreaming. They had been married to sets released as booster packs being strongly designed towards limited play from day one. They have never wavered from that position. As much as I hate it the greatest shaping force of these kind of sets will continue to be limited.
Always remember- sometimes a player and Commander will just not get along for whatever reason, so be prepared to accept that it was not to be.
I am certainly kicking myself for not grabbing at least a couple in April. Looks like I will not be able to play her until she rotates. If I played more competitive events I could easily still see buying her at $35 over a few weeks, but it would be a little silly for me right now.
BGx is kinda the last archetypal Modern archetype, and Modern drives a large % of the enemy fetch price.
Yea, but design and reprint policy has changed a lot since then. Again it is all too long for me, but I would not be too surprised to see them in the block after Kaladesh. I also would no longer be surprised if they weren't either.
I'm not going to say I know the cap, but there is a cap on all cards. Their value is determined by what people are willing to pay for them, and everyone has their limit. I reached my limit on enemy fetchlands long ago, and even though I could afford one or two a month, they are just not worth the price for me. I also just will not pay over $30-$40 for any single card, so that is my ceiling. Everyone has to determine what that is for them. When the price gets high enough such that enough people can't or won't buy them, then retailers will drop them back down slowly until people start buying them again.
If you are asking why some have different max prices than others then you just have to look at how many copies of each land appear in the tier 1-2 decks.
That would need to be a Print on Demand product and POD for cards whose quality is that of MTG is dramatically more expensive. Small batch printing, proofing, die cutting and packaging is quite a bit more costly to do. Not to mention I doubt that Carta Mundi would do it, since they are such a huge print house, and perhaps the one that the suplimental products are printed by is too big as well, so you might be looking at a new printer house. Security is already an issue, when you start adding more hands in the mix it will only get harder.
You mention ordering from a store, but the way Brick and Mortar stores make money on packaged product is to buy at wholesale and sell at retail. If they are buying at wholesale what is to stop them from selling that land pack for more than your MSRP of $100? I also don't think your system of DCI checks and balances would be as simple as you think and would result in plenty of abuse. It adds one more thing for Wizards to monitor, and we know from their discontinuing the player rewards that they don't feel that managing some system that not most players don't engage with is a good use of their resources.
They are indeed like printing money, but I would argue that WotC already do a bang up job moving product without them, and since the fetches are ammo they have to use sparingly I am hesitant to think that they will print them soon. I think WotC are kinda glad to not have them in Standard for a while.
I have no indicators that this will actually happen, but I think it is possible that we will see some of the chase utility lands reprinted in EMA. If that happens you will see a small dip in prices, but I think this land is a $20 land all day long. EDH players love the hell out of it, and so do casuals. If you want to play it now then I think it is well worth the $4-$5 per card you might save if you waited. I also think that this card is unlikely to spike, so waiting isn't a bad thing either.
I really have no idea what the supplier/retailer situation is since I am just a consumer, but it really sounds to me like a supplier issue. It sounds like, for whatever reason, other retailers are getting priority over you. I am just guessing though.
I'm having a hard understanding how your standard supply problem has anything to do with the future of Modern. If you started having access to three times as much current standard product tomorrow how would that make Modern more or less likely to become like Legacy?
I meant no mockery. I was just not sure from reading your post if you were fully aware of that.
Your supply issues are an anomaly, as you must know- with most shops getting as much Standard product as they need, and still Modern is played enthusiastically in many of those places. I can almost guarantee that Modern will one day be like Legacy, the only question is how long it will take. I have no short term fears for the format, but nothing lasts forever. Five years down the road Modern may not fill it's intended roll from Wizard's perspective, but frankly, a then eight year old format that is not eternal and does not rotate probably should get revised or usurped by a new format. Nothing wrong with that.
Just because there is no Modern Pro Tour doesn't mean you can't hold a Modern FNM every week. FNM can be almost anything as long as it does not allow proxies. I may me misunderstanding you, though.
Right. My original point was that looking to Fetches as an indicator of what other cards will do after rotation will lead to disappointment. Fetches (and to an extent any decent in Modern dual land) hold and gain value independent of their legality in Standard. Other cards, like Collected Company, will see a more dramatic price drop post rotation. CC is probably more resistant to price drop than Rhino because mountains of SR were opened and were never really expensive to acquire for any period of time.
I cant pull up the transaction so I can't be sure, but I think I paid $320 for a full set of Khans fetches when they first came out. Could have gotten them cheaper if I wanted to hassle with TCG or Ebay, but I am not keen on them for various reasons, but the primary reason was I was using store credit. As it stands now you are looking at about the same price for them, and since demand is only going to grow the price is only going to go up. I have no interest in getting extra play sets to sell later, but it is not a unwise practice.
