If you want to win with blue artifact you are likely going to have to focus on playing some bomb with the tons of mana you can conjure up with grand architect. Otherwise you just set up lots of mana but not much to do with it. But what artifact bombs are there, really, that compete with Eldrazi in power? What makes blue artifact better than land ramp? Can't think of anything off the top of my head.

You CAN make like 12 mana on the 5th turn but in that turn you are more involved in making the "engine" work with that mana: Mimic vat, Chimeric Mass, Triskelion, Wurmcoil Engine, Lux Cannon... all of them work with that mana. There's not such thing as "too much mana". And also: of course you can't compete with Eldrazi power but Eldrazi decks are different, they just want to drop a huge creature then kill you in one strike, this deck is more like an goblin or elf deck: you have tons of mana to work with and you use it in different ways to overwhelm your opponent with lots of tricks

I have a pretty good idea of a deck with those pieces, I have Triskelion, Steel Overlord and Menmite and I added a little bit of proliferate (in the form of Throne of Geth and Contagion Clasp). Also added the "toolbox" you mention (Chimeric Mass, Infiltration Lens, Brittle Effigy) and with the addition of Mimic Vat a really aggro/combo deck came to life. I already have so good results and I will come back with a decklist tomorrow.

    This is an interesting idea.
Still a 4 drop like BBE>and easier to cast than it.
Can put allies from your hand into play, cheap, over multiple turns< BBE puts an ally and a 3 power attacker into play once but can do damage immediately.

if we are trying to be a lethal aggro deck, I'm left opting for the card which is effective sooner than later and stick with BBE. at least for now.

I've seen the advantages of BBE and I'm gonna work with it a little bit but after the rotation of Alara I wanna see how this works in the early Standard and see if it fits the criteria.

I'm gonna lurk a little more to see how it works and the test the decklists as they appear.

    Thanks

    A few questions:

Has anyone thought of a GWU variation of Allies?

What do you think of something like Elvish Piper instead of Bloodbraid Elf?

I'm trying to put together an ally deck but I don't like the decklists so far, I had a more mana-centric build that includes a few big creatures by using the big amounts of mana from Harabaz Druid and Elvis Piper to support it (and the advantage of instant speed creatures as combat tricks is great). I'm gonna try it on the next FNM and see the results, it just needs a little tweaking and a few multicolored lands to work properly...

Renewed Faith over Gilded Light. Why people why? I thought I'd already pounded this into everyone's head. You can get some very minor lifegain when you cycle Faith, or you can have a counterspell for 90% of the things you care about. Mindslaver, Tormod's Crypt, Gifts Ungiven, Brain Freeze, any discard, Echoes, any burn (including Hellbent Demonfire), the list goes on, and you're immune to the stuff for the whole turn.. Renewed Faith is a nice card, but it doesn't even pretend to touch Gilded Light in Slide.

EDIT: oh, and the best way to deal with Goblinstorm is to utilize Leyline of the Void out the board, it turns off Fecundity. Either that or just kill the Fecundity's as soon as they appear, or set up a "fog lock" situation. There are a lot of ways to work around that deck, its faster than traditional goblins but also much, much less resilient to hate and if it doesn't win by turn 5 at the latest, it just loses. Just practice against it a bunch and you'll get it down fairly quickly.

EDIT2: Cabral's list did well at LAST YEAR'S worlds. 4 sets have come out since then. Things have changed. The two keys to extended right now are nonbasic land hate and graveyard hate. Design your deck to take advantage of other decks' reliance on those while minimizing your own vulnerability to them. For a manabase that means running plenty of basics and different ways to fetch them, look at some Legacy manabases if you need inspiration. Dwarven Blastminer and Destructive Flow are your best bets for nonbasic hate right now, and Withered Wretch, Tormod's Crypt, and Leyline of the Void are what you want to be looking at for graveyard hate.

I'm gonna test it again with Gilded Light, it seems that it will save me from a lot of things i hadn't thought about.

Also I used Cabral's list because my main problem is BDW land destruction (my metagame will be filled with RDW and Goblins, maybe Affinity), and since i have enough control with creatures and life I thought discard was the solution against LD, so I needed a WGb deck with a few changes to start and begin testing it.

Also, it seems a lot of people use Mono-R Goblins so its just about sliding the right creatures or kill all of them and start to hurt them with discard involved. Also I'm gonna test with Tivadar of Thorn... it seem Nekrataal is only useable in Goblins

I tried to build a deck around Da Costa Cabral's WGb (last year's 5-0-1 at worlds) and I came up with this:

I will test it but i need your oppinions on it. Also I need help with the Sideboard

My thoughts are Nekrataal against goblins or other aggro (moslty as a replacement of Kavu, except that kavu also hits black creatures, against artifacts the deck is already good against Affinity). The Duress its against LD mostly, if you play it before 3rd turn you will get the time to control them, i think, ot may also help against control matchups. Sudden Death is my choice but i'm not sure how it will work without the Krosan GripI think i will work not only against Psychatog, but against Golbins and other control matchups...

Mystic Snake doesn't work well with Astral Slide. The Slide doesn't return the creature to play until the next turn, so the Snake would likely have nothing to counter.

Loaming Shaman allows the controller to choose the number of target cards and the target player.

I dont know if you read the comment right... i am against Mystic Snake in slide (though i hadnt thought of the CIP until EOT thing), but the guy who commented about it also said something about Momentary Blink...

So... am I right about Firemaw Kavu? Because if im right im gonna test it...

What about including Blue now for Mystic Snake and counters with Momentary Blink. I mean a Witness and cycle cards and you have a control for control as well as Aggro. This may just be influence from the deck in T2 but Slide could support it and possibly make it even better.

People need to understand that Slide is some other kind of control that just "counter, counter, counter, bomb", we had Mystic Snake since the beggining of Slide (in extended). I haven't tested it with blue, but i think its not that "slide friendly" because there's not that much synergetic creatures for slide and , I think its just silly to add blue just because of one creature (the drawing comes from the engine if you thought of that).... Red comes in because of Lightning Rift and because it helps with the longer games. Black disrupts hand and brings Removal...

Maybe you're thinking of some different version of slide... I will be glad to see a GWu version if it plays smoothly ^^

I really like GWb slide, such as the version Bernardo Da Costa Cabral used in Worlds last year (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=mtgevent/worlds05/extdecks) that went 5-0-1 by the way...

With the addition of Sudden Death and some other CIP cards added in this year i think it will be really competitive again, i will test this version for the next extended season and post the results

    Some thoughts:

Has anyone thought of Firemaw Kavu? CIP 2 damage, remove, 4 damage, CIP 2 more... that's just sick if I'm right...

I know Loaming Shaman can help us, but can just the opponent choose 0 as a number?

Note that you will lose anyway unless you have Platinum Angel out in this case.

Effects of spell occur *before* the SBEs are checked, so even if you drive an opponent below zero by this, you'll die first.

    Thast why [sarcasm][/sarcasm] tags exist!

There's a booster we dont know about?... maybe Arcana will talk about reprints... please WOTC!

It gives a new level to Blue Control in Standard!

Turn 3 or more: Suspend ~
Opponent plays anything: You counter it, destroy it, boomerang it!

It totally screws Aggro players math!

Of course if you play it by turn 10+ you need a lot of control in the table or something to keep the game for another 6 turns... or less of course

It looks like echo, but it seems to have 1B after it. Maybe kicker? But no mention of what the kicker does, that I can see.

I think its looks like kicker, but theres no "if you paid the kicker cost" so, it echo.. and i guess it is 1B.. and the third sentence (second "deals damage") is smaller that the first one.. or at least i think so... so, my guess its something else... i cant see the numbers right

Im intrigued by the "Fireball" with Flashback...

interesting alpha version of a deck, the Red Madness card(s) will most likely be put into this deck, expecially the burn one (if there is one), because we all know that madness + burn spell + jaya = fun for you, pain for them.

is it just me or does jaya have synergy with grim lavamancer?

    do you guys mean

    4 Jaya
    4 Grim Lavamancer
    4 Fiery Temper???

I guess its something like Kamahl, or Ertai... Akroma will be back with a different name and it will be A DIFFERENT CARD (Kamahl, Pit Fighter; Kamahl, Fist of Krosa; Ertai, Wizard Adept; Ertai, the Corrupted)

I want a black Akroma, with opposite abilites...

    Just my guess

By the way... akroma died? I didnt played the Onslaught block...

Mexico could be interesting to, but we wouldnt want any magic pros getting kidnapped, so vancouver or montreal gets my vote.

    **** Toronto.

That's just lame... of what part of mexico are you talking? Sweat Are there "red zones" in your city or in your contry?
Dont generalize... Still, i agree with Vancouver or Toronto

    In topic:

It could be Pro Tour Cancun! or Pro Tour Los Cabos! they said exotic places!...

2HG Pro Tour?!?!? I dont see how two massive Pro egoes can fit in a single side of the table... Again WOTC bullying everyone making us play what THEY want... they take advantage because I love MAGIC...

I agree with the Full Block or the Vintage Pro Tour...
