Hi. So. I played against an opponent who has a Thought-Knot Seer. It ends up leaving the battlefied, who's responsibility is it to announce the trigger? The same opponent had a chalice of the void on one, and was countering my spells with it. He cast a Relic of Progenitus, and asked me for any responses, I said no and he put it onto the battlefield. Is it my responsibility to remind him of the trigger?

Command is still pretty good in the main, honestly. Especially with the rise of Ad Nauseum after the bannings. Keep in mind what was mentioned above though. You don't want too many non creature spells that lower your creature count too much.

Sideboard is going to depend on your local meta. A good starting point is attacking creature/burn decks and then Tron. Something thatputs you over against Jund is pretty good too.

I think once the meta shakes down, it's going to be the decks that go over Tron vs the decks that go Under Tron. Purely Speculative but I think we're going to see Tron become the best deck (First time you've heard that right?) and the reaction to Tron is going to be the fast combo decks like Ad Nauseum and Storm, as well as the creture combo decks, Affinity(ish) Infect, and Bogles. After that, your going to see a shift to more blue decks. All in all, I think zoo is honestly going to be about where it was pre-banning. Which isn't bad. I've been playing the deck for years now and the last few months have really seen an increase in zoo's viability.

Figured since I'm talking Zoo again, I might as well post my list. This was theorycrafted after the bannings and I've been a huge fan of it. With anticipation of creature decks on the rise, the Helixes and Finks main have been really great in testing. Chandra allows us to go long in the game, not that it was a problem anyway. I'm a big believer in Gideon again, especially with Jund on the rise, he's been INSANE. Probably moving up to another in the board, possibly one main even. I really like my sideboard, even though I have yet to get Crumble to Dusts, but other than that I've been very happy with how the deck performs. I've dropped 1 of like 20 matches, and it was only because I mulled into oblivion. Haven't really have to play against any of the Snapcaster Blue decks either, so that could be a contributing factor as well.

They don't need to, mostly, at least in my opinion. The way I play my versions of Zoo (Which is not CoCo Zoo, but very similar) is similar to Jund. Resource trades and early attacks. The main difference being that our Creature removal comes in combat and not in the main phase. CoCo Zoo is not trying to bash through for 12 damage in the first three turns, nor does it need to. Giving a 5/5 Knight of the Reliquary +1/+1 is pretty meh. In some situations it does speed up the clock, but mostly it's no better than a two mana deal three damage and a third of a giant growth. If you spew a bunch of guys out in the first three turns and then use it, it's a lot better as it turns into "Add 4 Power to your guys on turn three and deal three damage".

Tl;DR It works a lot better with small quick creatures, and in decks where you flood the board before your opponent does much of anything.

Reckless Bushwhacker certainly intrigues me (it seems to be a better fit than the likes of Tarmogoyf in RG Small Zoo), but doesn't 4 copies strike you as a tad greedy? It's a virtual T3 play unless it's combined with the likes of Burning-Tree Emissary or Mutagenic Growth.

I think 4 is going to end up being correct in the small zoo lists. Even if it is a turn 3 play, you've hasted up a Nacatl or a Kird Ape and added an additional point of power to the board. Worst case scenario is that you have to bolt the face and surge it, or just cast a 2/1 Haster for R2. All in all, I feel like the upside is way better than the downside, not to mention I think I like the builds of little zoo that are more all in on BTE, it just seems right to me, you know?

A timely Kessig Wolf-Run goes a long way in the Eldrazi Matchup. Unfortunately, it is quite a not great matchup for us, but it's by no means awful.

3-0 a 8 man tonight. Deck felt really good even though I never drew any sideboard cards i didn't drop a single game. I don't know how to do the deck list thing but I'll type it out still.
    4 nobles
    4 necatil
    4 Goyf
    4 knight of the reliquary
    4 bolt
    4 path
    3 pridemage
    3 ooze
    3 smiter
    3 coco
    1 birds of paradise
    1 elspeth knight errand
    4 Wooded foothills
    4 windswept Heath
    3 arid Mesa
    2 sacred foundry
    2 forest
    1 plains
    1 stomping ground
    1 temple garden
    1 stirring wildwood
    1 ghost quarter
    1 kessig
    1 horizon canopy
    Sb: a bit make shift
    3 kor firewalker
    2 EE
    2 blood moon
    3 voice of resurgence
    2 stony silence
    1 kataki
    1 choke
    1 grim lavamancer

The match ups were UR mill, burn and Grixis control.

In the bigger zoo lists I like Fracturing Gustas narrow affinity hate, and Bonfire of the Damned as a little wider little creature hate. I highly suggest giving either or both a try in your list, I've never been a big fan of Stony Silence, because the Affinity deck can easily slip under it on the play, and even if you do get it off before they have a chance to do anything, they can still have fairly nutty Signal Pest draws. I also really like the 4th copy of Qasali Pridemage in the 75, you could probably cut down from 3 Oozes to fit one in the main.

The matchup is fairly draw dependent. Not a lot is beating their fastest hands, but the matchup has always seemed good to me. Depending on the exact list you run, of course. Pride mage is an all-star and clogging the board is just fine. Overall it's about experience with the matchup and what list you're running

dropped my apes in gruul. added some pump. so my non critters are 3x Paths, 4x Bolts, 4x Atarkas, 2x mutagentic growth and 1x rancor. I am a hard believer in become immense but after letting a friend use my only copy, adding a rancor seemed better, one more chance for trample.

Is your list otherwise the same? After looking at this thread, I kind of feel like Reckless Bushwacker might be the new hotness in the Gruul lists. It seems insanely powerful.

pretty much.. all the same cretures, I play 4x vexing though, and added a basic plains due to the added white bringing my basic up to 4x 2x forest 1 mtn and the plain

I'll avoid the Vexing Devil talk, because it's strung out and I got tired of it from RTR Standard. Lol.

You should probably toss in Reckless Bushwacker. Although I can't say for sure without seeing your whole list, but I can almost assume since you're playing V Devil, you're the type of deck that will be GREAT with it.

i dont see 1mana less as a big upside in this case, as you dont want play back to nature turn 2 anyways.

when one of both spell resolve vs bogles its pretty much game anyway, isnt it?.

It's important because of versatility and pace of play. The three mana version can be turn three at the earliest, but in a deck like zoo, the third and fourth turns are critical. I would rather go one drop, two drop, reactive two mana spell, and another one drop, as opposed to a reactive three mana spell. Pace of play is hugely important in zoo decks, so the cheaper not quite as versatile sideboard card is often going to be the correct choice.

Great against Lilliana. I'm sure that value alone is worth trying it. I'm not entirely sure what our matchup with Jund is like, as I have recently returned to the game, but it feels close to me. The two matches I played both went to game three and both really felt like the first person to draw dead got beat. Mitigating 4 cards of their main deck without having to commit to anything big and flashy is great

This is the tokens list that was on the rise a year or two ago. I understand what you mean with a token strategy being ideal when you get two dudes for one card, but I'd argue that the tokens decks are reliant more on card advantage than raw board presence. and that is where Hawk shines. Martyr of Sand is really just there to give you an edge in the Burn/Delver match ups game 1. Not to mention it gives you a reasonable cushion against alot of decks. Playing against twin it's super dead, but we have aside board for a reason.

I think if the deck is splashing blue, it's definitely not going to be a tokens deck. That's a deck that shouldn't be running anthems, and just pecking your opponent to death with Hawks and Lingering souls.

Also, I disagree with your opinion that the only creatures should be Sculler, Brimaz, and HOB. Squadron Hawk is our Treasure Cruise without going down the Blue route. I'd argue it's one of the most powerful cards in the deck.
