I have found GHM to be a bomb when it resolves. One of the things about this deck is every card we drop is two creatures minimum. This makes decks like RDW find us to be a problem, and the only way they can deal with us is a board wipe. WSZ is also a great card. OI may remove Elesh Norn for another Monk, to be honest.
Yeah i traded away my elsh norn tonight for a snapcaster, i think ill put my GHM in to test, cause the three bodies for 1 card is just as good as a lingering souls, and usually elsh norn just sits there looking pretty for a turn before getting removed anyway. Otherwise ive found elspeth very useful around turn 5 always.
I aimed for a more midrange deck, sacrificing a bit of early aggro for more stability and survivability.
This is VERY similar to the deck i run, and i LOVE it. same kind of plan, longevity and survivability. how's Geist Honored Monk do in it? I have him hanging out in my relevant cards box along with White Sun's Zenith.
I agree with my buddy lantern. Any list without champion of the parish is better. When i played that build I would feel way to non threatening without his cute little combo.
I feel like if we need a better weenie we should have an elite inquisitor instead.
Sideboard
[CARD]
2 Surgical Extraction
2 Grafdigger's Cage
4 Revoke Existence
4 Grand Abolisher
3 Stony Silence
[/CARD]
The power of the deck remains the same, get tokens out to block AND attack, so the first strike and the vigilance are extremely relevant.
For awhile I've been running nothing but lingering souls and Timely reinforcements as my main token creators and it works great cause i can still survive my own day of judgement if i need to, and still have plenty of gas with my Elspeth Tirel and Sorin, Lord of innistrad
So I was up for most of the day looking for powerful and fast burn cards to make a RDW for modern cause frankly I don't now where to start with the format anymore after the recent bannings. i compiled a list of hasty cards and fast burn spells and this is what i got:
As you can see, its fairly straight forward. ALOT of burn. I threw in alot of fetch to thin out the deck for your creatures, Magma jet for draw fixing, Hellspark Elemental, Hell's Thunder, and Chandra's Pheonix to keep things going in the late game, and removal in the sideboard.
Hey there all awesome MBC fans!!
so i have a new decklist that ive been testing and though its not currently amazing, it does have some fun mechanics that i believe could be looked upon.
So let me explain further some stuff I've had fun with:
1) Vampire Nighthawk + Lashwrithe; so at its slowest on turn 3 Nighthawk comes into play and the other player thinks less of it, turn 4 comes around and i cast and equip Lashwrithe (better when the other player is tapped for mana) and i swing for 6 damage and gain 6 life.
2) Lashwrithe + Phyrexian Obliterator = scary
3) tezzeret's Gambit + Tumble Magnet and Everflowing Chalice = more counters (not to mention more cards)
4) Everflowing Chalice ramp for Karn Liberated is always a good strategy against White
5) Hex Parasite = Duhh
6) Sheoldred, The Whispering One for the late game comeback if needed
Last, my ideal hand would include 1 Inquisition of Kosilek 1 Everflowing Chalice 1 Vampire nighthawk 1 Lashwrithe 1 anything 2 swamp
Trying 2 play it with only 6 artifacts is way to "iffy" I guess, but it sure should give you some fun games. So many bombs for this less mana.
the idea isn't too bad actually, you have darksteel relic not, cost 0 for an indestructable artifact, the darksteel axe works and has cynergy not to mention spellskite is looking fairly good in any MBC deck, also hex parasite, but the more i look at it, you still need the extra red to wipe the board of small creatures via maybe slagstorm, pyroclasm, or even arc trail just against cawblade
So this deck started out as a mono-black control but realizing that it need slightly more draw, and more defense against tumble magnet and charge counter artifacts ive spice it up a little with some blue.
i really only wanted to make this deck public to see if anyone else would like to run it and so far people dont take it seriously and wont until you see it top in a big tournament.
I'm really liking all the ideas that are bouncing around, so far i havent found much success with a mono-white; without the spell pierce and mana leaks it just doesnt hold up against my vampires.
im still set on the original BUW deck, with the exception of my 2 prophetic prism, im thinking of changing that back to 2 sphere of the suns
id like to work on a WU adaptation, but for the rest of today, though, im in class and working on projects.
if anyone has comes up with a solid WU deck, feel free to post it, im open to all suggestions
The spell pierces and mana leaks can be used aggresively to stop them playing removal or blockers while you beat in with your small guys. Preordains and Prisms on the other hand are really only useful for the long game, when you're trying to set up your board for your finishers.
Plus, if you take out the skittles and GftT, you wont need the prisms or preordains to fix your mana, as you'll be a lot more consistant in two colors
Personally, I really think the deck will work better as a weenie aggro deck than as a midrange aggro deck. If it's weenie, then the leonin arbiters, mana leaks, and spell pierces will keep your little guys safe while you beat in. If you try to play midrange and top out your curve with skittles, then the control decks can take over by turn 4/5 and with DoJs, BSZs, GftTs, etc.
yeah, i really like this concept more than mono white, having the spell pierces and mana leaks is just much more useful that going with oust and condemn against aggro decks, especially vampires and knights.
ill try to put something together later, but its finals week so.. off to work
hmmm, i actually like the sound of the last few comments, ill try it out without the black and see where it takes me
but to reinforce my black friends, my previous deck did include 2 sphere of the suns over those prophetic prism for that small mana fix, and normally with that i could swing with a hasty skithiryx turn 4 or 5 if i really needed to, its always a fun bomb to surprise ppl with
aside from that i agree, the power in the deck seems to be mostly with the artifact creatures and the mid range control, and i agree Condemn and Oust might be very useful cards to take advantage of cause life points dont matter with infect.
yeah i know priests of norn seem odd but think about it; 1/4 with vigilance, you have a constant pinger and blocker on the field that cant be lightning bolted, and most players are going to be reluctant to destroy him if he only deals 1 infect counter, but his 1 counter adds up
Yeah i traded away my elsh norn tonight for a snapcaster, i think ill put my GHM in to test, cause the three bodies for 1 card is just as good as a lingering souls, and usually elsh norn just sits there looking pretty for a turn before getting removed anyway.
