they have printed similar artifacts recently that punish attacking creatures. for example... leonin bladetrap for example and pit trap reprinted in seventh before that. with blade trap rotating out, it makes sense to reprint a replacement. that replacement apparently is going to be quicksand. I agree though... the real selling point is quicksand.

the warhammer is a fun reprint.

phyrexian and blinking spirit are sorta disappointing.
I think the real big deal is they have realized that wasting uncommons slots on cops is counterproductive to their whole try to make white weenie good in standard scheme.

good stuff. Multiplayer IS all about the everyone having fun. I like to run decks that have answers to anything, decent synergy, but nothing broken or too disruptive. Casual isn't about skill or deckbuilding as much as it is about friendship. You need a close play group for real casual. That way you can establish house rules, expectations, and guidelines for deck contents and play. The problem with your research for this article is that you only played random games against random opponents. The best casual isn't played against strangers though; it is best played with a group of close friends.
Nekrataal will continue to see print because he is a fan-favorite. Dark Hatchling sucks. They probably would've reprinted black knight, but they wanted to fit in with block mechanic.

an upkeep trigger is much better than a 0 activation cost that can only be played once a turn. They could still make the ability optional, or they could weaken the card by making it not optional. If they weaken it, I think it will be done by making the ability not optional. However, I see nothing wrong with the ability as is, I find it very balanced and playable.

I sincerely hope this rumour is true, but the cards do seem a tad (sarcasm) on the playable side.
I may not be in the position to analyze the source's reputation being the slobbish noob that I am, but I do feel that it is relevant to note that even the best of people can fall victim to wishful thinking.
That said... hopefully someone from wizards has taken note of the kind of positive response the people have given to the possible return of painlands and if they are not going to reprint them in this next core set, they bloody well better in ravinca.

My favorite card is hobble because it removes dangerous attacking creatures from the equation while providing card advantage, but is not powerful enough to warrant a spiteful response in multiplayer since it is undoable and still allows blocking and activating abilities.
