isn't there a storyline reason for no timeshifted cards from mirrodin on? Doesn't the story shift away from dominaria at that point. Since Time Spiral is a return to dominaria it seems understandable that the blocks in between should be neglected.
I think for this reason there won't be purples from mirrodin on. Who's that nostalgic about things only three years old anyway.
As for mechanics in Planar chaos, I hope for cycling and kicker.
I also expect some mechanics from mirrodin and kamigawa. Ravinica reprints would be quite silly.

note furnace of rath in play!
    it's a 2/4
2x2-1 = 3 for the pandemonium 4-1= 3 for the attack 1 for the bombardment
aether flash 2x2-2 = 2 seal negated by your seal-like effects. minefield 2x2-2 damage the creature needs to have at least 4 toughness + 1 from the parapet

art 24 = angus mackenzie ftw!
edit: feck! sarnathed by crovax himself.

I can't believe no one has yet offered the big daddy of them all yet: urza. Is there any reason why it can't be urza? I don't know as I do not follow the storyline well enough.

edit: I think it's Teferi because of the head-dress. It looks like a legend. Legends aren't always impressive looking. Previous depictions of Teferi have not be flattering. Urza looks like crap in his card Blind Seer. This guy has no pupils (pretty impressive). On top of that he has a staff like a planeswalker and some monsterous armor.

mine doesn't really know what it is. last weekend when I hit a dead dog on the side of the road, blew out my tire, and was stranded with her and my briefcase of decks I offered to teach her how to play, but the tow truck arrived just before I could open bust out the cards. Because of how infrequently I get to see her (a couple days a week) we usually spend our time doing more exciting things like frisbee.

spindown life counters are the worst. I vote no. They are bad for tournament players when seismic activity goes down (your life total starts spinning down on its own). They are bad for casual players because they have no cross over use since they are rigged dice (as previously mentioned about d&d). They are more time consuming than the card life counter, do not have the same capacity for awesome art, and have a horrible name to top it all off. 'Spin-down' sounds as though it better describes card life counters since they actually spin on a point of rotation. A better description of the activity involved in changing your life total on a die is "pick it up and look at which side you need to turn it to" life counter.

The only advatage to this type of system would be that you could take 50 of these dies, put them in a typical magic gem/token/dice sack, then go to wotc and use the sack to beat to death whoever came up with the lousy idea in the first place. Whoever did obviously still works there and is forced them to keep making these little nuggets of crap because they thought it was a revolutionary idea at some point.

on a positive note: SNOW COVERED LANDS WOOOOOOT! I have been trying to break whiteoutfor months now. I have several arcum's weathervane's and can't wait for it and sunstone to be powerful!

I have seen both leveler and timesifter used effectively in multiplayer. Liar's pendulum is playable in limited. vulshock battlehorns or whatever is almost strictly better than heartwood shard

two cards I hate that haven't been mentioned are duskworker and myr prototype. The prototype is the my vote though

edit goblin dirgible is better than the prototype.

lava spikes is a worse version of unholy strength and darkblast combined. i was going to say it is overrated.

I think fall is overrated. It will most likely end up being a scepter's wail.
    Research/Development is overhyped too.

the color splash uncommons are all awesome. Crypt champion and azorious herald and plaxmana are my favorites

wow! I built a deck around planar chaos once! I guess this means I'm a johnny! I speculate that the gimmick of this block is that the first set is going to be full of reprints that spikes will love, the second for johnnies and the third for scorge, I mean timmy.

I predict that the third set will be named krosan cloudscraper.

It would be even cooler if each set was designed in a way that encouraged people who fall into one style of play to try other styles.

I might get hushed for this but...
they are bringing back morph, right?

Anyway, here were discussing bad cards, judged on the badness, not whether we like the card itself or not.

(But my most disliked card would be Research: I hate that "cards from outside the game" crap.)
We are evaluating worst cards. I have my standards (does something unique, interesting, and inspired while also being useful in the format in which I play, multiplayer) I am saying there are better options and this won't replace them. Badness matter of opinion based on a set of values. Your values may include playability in limited formats, but mine do not.

Ps. Rain of Gore is pretty bad too.

for some reason I really hate stormscale anarch.

He's a game winner in limited, but I hate him sooo much in constructed. There are uncommons better than him. arc mage is far superior, only uncommon, divisible, discard by choice burn. In a set full of crazy cards like experimental kraj he feels uninspired and a waste of a rare slot (and a rip off of the planeswalkers rare cycle from planeshift). I felt bored reading him in the spoiler.

pallaition's accord is an acceptable replacement and not necessarily inferior righteous cause which is quite playable in multiplayer. also try gigadrowse tricks.

I think this card is meant for multiplayer play based on the face that alongi is previewing it. that said... it is awesome! I hate non-creature spells with a passion. I hope the supposedly awesome azorius wrath/counterspell turns out to retroactively counter all non-creature spells played in the current game! Reseting play conditions is awesome!
but seriously now. I like creatures. this is soo much more useful than cloud cover, so much more interesting than privilaged position. a fantastic spell indeed.

  • posted a message on %$#@ the color pie! (Aethermage's Touch)
I think this also fits in with the entire astral slide mechanic and the sands of time or whatever the upcoming ymtc is called. White is all about having creatures coming into play and leaving play as combat tricks while blue accounts for the dig and search part. Another two overlooked cards that are similar: tidal wave and angelic favor. These cards reverse the waylay-> thunderheads arguement and show that both colors are legitimate places for instant blockers.

I like hellbent, because it encourages people to redefine what is "bad play". I can't wait for a noob who isn't stuck in this notion that playing out everything in your hand is a bad idea to pick up a hellbent deck and rape wrathofgod.dec boy.
