Man this card doesn't look good for us /:
Rending Volley - R
Instant
~ cannot be countered by spells or abilities.
~ deals 4 damage to target white or blue creature.
I'm not exactly scared of a less versatile combust, especially since modern sideboards have a heavy emphasis on versatility.
Hey guys, I have a quick question. I normally play BGx (Abzan mid currently), but wanted to try something different for a little while and U/R Twin had always looked fun. I plan to cobble together something like the one that won the PT and was just curious about the mana base. I have pretty much everything except for the 3rd misty rainforest. Is wooded foothills an acceptable replacement for now? I know it's not ideal, as it can't fetch islands, but I only own 2 misty currently and wanted to try it out first before grabbing a third. The manabase is as follows
Yes. A popular first turn line can be fetch mountain -> bolt so it plays nicely with that while also having access to all the other lands that arent basic islands.
I agree it is a bad rule. I wouldn't be opposed to a simian spirit guide ban because that would make it harder to win before turn 4 and the only turn 2 win would be hive mind.

I, personally, don't know how anyone can suggest a simian spirit guide ban with a straight face -_-
The temur deck doesn't seem very great either. Flameslash doesn't kill siege rhino or tasigur. I think it's just a bad dismember. And huntmaster is laughable vs tasigur and rhino. Those cards don't seem very good in the current meta.
Pretty sure most twin decks laugh when their opponent plays a siege rhino or a tasigur, its usually met with a remand and then they combo, or they twiddle it for a few turns then combo. Flame slash does the job that it's meant to do.
When pod players go from playing their budget midrange decks and then have to aquire 4 goyf, 4 Lilly, and 4 bobs at a minimum to stay on the green midrange deck in less than a week. .. I can only the numbers for the rich mans deck are at its lowest
Hello people! I used to play Scapeshift but stopped playing for a while just as Khans was being released. I came back to the game last week and, seeing the new metagame, ditched Scapeshift and built Birthing Pod - I'm running Bellini's list from GP Milan (2nd place).
He's also on the Slaughter Games plan, which's interesting. Not sure if I like Murderous Cut over Path though but, hey, he's the Pro.
Having played 15 games with the deck, I only combo'ed once and am thinking about just cutting it entirely to add a Courser of Kruphix and the third Siege Rhino. I think that card is amazing in this meta (I had 4 Baloths in the SB of my Scapeshift deck and they were awesome against Delver - Rhino is even better). How many here have gone full "Value Pod" and how's it going so far?
Thanks a lot.
interesting article and choices....not sure why you want Cut in the SB, seems like Path is cleaner for the MU's you need to bring in more removal(inspire of the drawback), not like there is a bunch of storm breath dragons running around.. I would also want a 3rd Slaughter games if I'm splashing red....didn't much care for some his SB plans, he cut Pod way too much imho...and took out the combo vs Scapeshift..
I'll keep my paths. The vast majority of the time I cast it, I barely have a couple cards in the yard. Also, That feeling when you lose to mirran crusader -.- I can only see cut/dismember when in the chalice sb plan.
I cut pods alot against agressive or going heavy non creature disruption. In the comments he also mentions his mistake regaddingt the scapeshift sb plan and corrects it to keeping combo and cutting decays
This is all right, except the last little bit. I thought Angel/Archangel Pod were named because they included the infinite combo of Spike Feeder + Archangel of Thune. It's kind of the marquee card of the deck, imo.
If I remember right LSV said they named it Angel Pod because of the high number of Angels not because of Thune specifically. They were running Sigarda, Restoration Angel, Archangel of Thune, and Linvala.
4 angels in the 75 (3 of which are standard faire), is high? I think I will favor Aazadan's reasoning.
i predict that They will introduce a new rarity above mythic for reprinted high dollar cards JUST to keep them boxes flying off the shelves! Perhaps even make the cards non standard legal. Similar to a more thought out long term "zendikar treasures" program.
But Orzhov Charm doesn't deal with stuff like Falkenrath Aristocrat or Lotleth Troll.
But actually, reanimating a mana dork (when you NEED to hit that 7th mana to hardcast an angel) is slightly relevant too.
Well, I thought we were discussing In regards to the mirror. Slip will likely fail against troll since morbid is rarely triggering. Charm can sometimes get aristocrat but my plan is generally chump with flyers or sever until i win.
Ill disagree with tragic slips being more relevant in the mirror. You are likely only killing mana dorks with it since morbid rarely triggers. Orzhov charm is the best bet since it can ramp you or get that milled shaman in play, or kill something I guess.
Tack in the recently discovered combo between Boros Reckoner, Boros Charm, and Nearheath Pilgrim--all of which can be good on their own, and would fit into many an aggro build--and aggro decks usually use up an opponent's removal anyway. So now you've got Johnny, Combo player also looking for 4 of the card just so he can pull it off at FNM.
Thats newly discovered? It was known the moment spoilers hit. You can also do it with azurious charm which I hear gets played.
I also have no doubt when a dominant control deck appears that reckoner will be in it as well since he works much better on defense.
