OK here is my idea... it might be crap, but i like this deck, i always wanted a blightsteel :] im trying for a whispersilk and hopefully sacking a nexus, maybe could throw some master's in there to add mroe artifacts :/
oh, good point, forgot that chalice of the void counters my own spells, put in some spell snares? or mental missteps :/, i am woefully behind on meta, though the FNM/ friends circle typically isnt "up to speed" fully either
a few 7 or 10 dollar lands may be ok, but the porblem is that all those are over 8 bucks besides the city of brass :/, i may end up just getting them, i hope my SAT scores come back good
i ran under the assumptions that are sort of different from the normal UB control/tezz:
A- infect is a quick kill deck, similar to RDW (in my mind i double the creature's attack powers and it makes sense... even septic rat is a 4/2 for 3 that goes to a 6/3...)
B- while removal and control is nice, quick kill decks need to focus more on... quick killing?
this one is sort of kind of budget in that i left out inkmoth nexus (yeah, im not paying 8.99 per card if it only sometimes shells out like 2 poison counters a game... its good yes because its not slowdown but....)
suggestions welcome :D, especially on what creatures/other cards/removal to include
What no skithiryx? yes, that is right. from the infection mechanic, i see that this is more of a RDW esk full on damage (in the form of infection) type deck.
Splashing blue? essentially just to have Distortion Strike, which is far and away the most powerful card in the deck, the new blighted agent is a nice addition too.
i thought about thrummingbird instead of blighted agent, but ended up sticking with infection
the creeping tar pits are there specifically to deal with planeswalkers.
Any recommendations for my deck? As it sits my Crusaders were side boarded but I could and prolly should main board them.
main deck them. Crusader is a great card for many reasons.
Most importantly- immune to red aggro (and takes chunks out of any biggies), immune to white/red removal, makes it very resilient, and a solid beater
Less imporant- first strike is your friend, and opponents will be unwilling to block it with lower creatures, and remember, its essentially a 4/2 when it comes to life damage
Right i have purchased this deck save the blinkmoth nexus (seriously, 10 dollars for THAT?), and some of the sideboard cards that i dont get.
I know it won in a tournament or another, but i am unsure exactly how to play it, would like pointers.
First questions: are the creeping pits really necessary? you can hit plainswalkers i agree, but its two out of... 60 cards.... not really an effective counter :/
how should i deal with Control decks, just aggro them to death?
also in teh above deck, i dont understand the creeping tar pits...
footnote, this deck is suprisingly cheap! i might buy this deck simply so i can have a competetive one :D, i knwo it beat at least RDW Caw-Blade and RUG, probably most of the other popular archetypes too...
"So.
Storm Crow beat me in a one-on-one match this evening. True story. Still figuring out how.
I mean... we were playing SCRABBLE. That card is just way too overpowered if all that's going to be happening"
(in the jace the mind sculptor thread) "Strictly worse than storm crow"
"I just had a frightening thought.
What happens if you play a Storm Crow on your turn, and your opponent plays a Storm Crow on the next turn? Somehow, I imagine the result being very much like a division by zero. Or two black holes swallowing each other up. Or a triple rainbow that ends in a hail of fire"
"Progenitus is probably the only damn thing I'd trust to deal with the bad boy. But really, they gave the [inappropriate] flying? Progenitus can't do crap before Storm Crow busts a cap in his summoners [inappropriate]"
"I sleep with a stormcrow under my pillow, it keeps me safe" <- personal favorite

also, tar pits= planeswalker denial essentially.

also in teh above deck, i dont understand the creeping tar pits...
Swamp x12
Mountain x12
23
Priest of gix x4
Phyrexian Negator x4
Ruinous Minotaur x4
Jackal Pup x4
Army Ants x4
Skinrender x3
16
Grim Tutor x4 (cant seem to find any of these online, may replace with diabolic tutor)
Go for the Throat x4
Terminate x4
Crucible of Worlds x4
most expensive cards by miles are crucible of worlds. no other card in this deck costs more than 4 dollars (and many cost less than 1)
any advice on improvements on this deck (i am willing to slip in some 10$ cards btw), is much appreciated
