Is it just me or is the wording a little a confusing when compared to past cards with a similar "if paid with X" effects.

Replaces Tragic Arrogance in a lot of EDH decks, like in my Tariel, Reckoner of Souls EDH.

    OH LAWD HE COMIN'

Seriously, though, this was inevitable. First we had Eldrazi Conscription, then we got the enchantment that gave +7/+7.

Mythic Proportions was back in Onslaught, so giving +7/+7 wasn't all that special.

The tap clause is a nice way for your opponent to react and not get blown out by whatever evasive creature this is bound to land on. I feel the cat art is better than the....caterpillar?

Second off: RC just ban companion as an ability and let people play the damn cute otter in the 99.

Even as the Commander Lutri is a fair card. Melek can be potentially stronger. Lutri just gets into a grey area when you have an extra card always in your hand.

I really don't understand what people are concerned about over Companion. Right now the Companion ability we've seen is a very simple stipulation. The deck must have cards 3cmc or greater. Why would you need to check someone's deck before-hand? If they play a card that breaks the rules, you'll obviously know. It just mean you should make sure your opponent running this Companion card doesn't cast a spells of 2cmc or less. That seems easy to see. There's no way a card that doesn't meet the rule can get played without you ever knowing.

I foresee a lot of "Woops! Didn't notice that" when it comes to deckbuilding as someone didn't do it on purpose so their deck has to change entirely in the middle of a tournament. At that point is it considered a game loss? Cheating? There's potentially a lot that could go wrong.

In Arena/MTGO it'll be super easy to build a deck with a Companion, but physically I can already tell you there will be a lot of people calling "Judge!".

It seems a little over complicated for the physical game when they've said why they won't do Threshold because of the needing to remember the number seven in your graveyard and we've had a deck in Modern literally banned for making tournaments take longer, and I imagine everyone calling for a judge to check the deck would only slow things down further and make things to remember just as annoying.

I'm not saying it's a bad mechanic, but that it's rather poorly executed in the physical game.

I'm alright with the idea of ability tokens, to some degree, but Companion seems like that should have been an Arena/MTGO exclusive.

Here's Ghidorah and the actual card in a badly sized pic I was able to take.

So Mutate is sort of like one of the core game mechanics from a brief card game called Hecatomb.

Well they showed a Godzilla promo in the trailer so the likelihood of these being real is higher.

    Trailer is on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hhj7mx1wfGM&t=0s
    Card is at the end.

I am not a fan of that trailer. I'm not even sure how Bad Reputation fits into any of that trailer, the world, the cards, or Vivien in any way. I feel like I need to go have a Naruto Linkin Park AMV pallet cleanser after that, that's how irritated I am by that trailer. At least with the AMV I'd get a "bad in a good way" kind of enjoyment.

The hearthstone mechanic is real. Not sure exactly how I feel about that, befuddled at the very least.

I'm bring that movie that have previous MTG collab to the discussion so people can compare because no one pointed it out in the earlier comments.

But were those cards ever actually physically made? I remember them doing that, but I can't seem to find physical cards and only images of the ones WotC created.

Look even they are box-toppers they need alternate names like Ryperior said and most of are already faulty to begin with. Do you really expect a card named GODZILLA and a non-legendary? thats pretty much dumb.

But they do have other names on them, just below the alternate name is the actual name of the card.

Look even this collab sense has a decent visual composition and address everything that a mtg card does compare to that fake that you accept that fault in the design and missed stuff to be true because of this statement

I'm not sure what the issue is here, these just look to be elaborate promos of what will be other existing cards where the only thing changed is the art and adding an additional name to the card.

This is the "kaiju set" so it would make sense to see promo art of the most famous kaiju.

As much as I would like to say these are fake I can't imagine a person(s) to go to so much trouble for something like this, from making realistic reading and looking cards and then foiling them.

For those that seem to be stuck on the Godzilla part the fact that these cards have another name just below them would lend more credence to these being incredibly elaborate promo versions of what will be actual cards. To those feeling that "these aren't MTG" then I'm just wondering why changing the art on a card would suddenly classify these as "not MTG" in your minds. Personally, I thought those zombie promo versions of the Gatewatch were far worse than these (but that could be me and having been super tired of the whole zombie fad at the time.)

If these are real, which I'm leaning that they are, this is just art with a secondary name on it and if people are going to feel that the art on a card doesn't make it a Magic card then I'm going to point you to the art of Grasp of the Hieromancer or Serpentine Spike with CG that even an early 2000s movie would be ashamed of. Now THAT art isn't MTG.

TL:DR These look real and what we're seeing here are just promos. Nothing more, nothing less. There's also rather strange outrage over these.
