To be honest, I'm so disappointed about the reason why Elspeth dead, not her death itself. She trades her life for suddenly-cheesy-romance... She deserves more majestic cause of death imo
Most people only know Jace from the smug flavor text as in Redirect (see the webcomic where Garruk meets Jace to see he never acted like that) or Mind Sculpt.
Add that to the general unexplainable dislike of him for being 'the face' of Magic (accusing him of showing too much in sets, for example, when he has the same number of cards as the others Lorwyn 5 except Liliana, and has been part of the storyline in only two blocks so far, while Elspeth for example has been in three).
People often harass Maro with such Jace-hate even he had been explaining the same thing, for example Jace's been the face for all of two sets while Elspeth has been in three, to them so many times, but people hear what they wish to hear
About Chandra, I don't think she's kinda serial killer like Tibalt or Vraska. Simply she always give a priority to her want over the morals of society.
I know Chandra is not evil or mischievous, just very inconsiderate (after all, that's why I think she deserves to be on the jerk-list while straightforward villains like Bolas or Ashiok do not). I am also well aware of her emotional problems and that she even feels guilt over things that have happened because of her, I just don' think it justifies her actions. It explains a lot to be sure, but it's no excuse.
I must say that of all the planeswalkers who posed as protagonists in a novel/comic, Chandra was the most difficult to empathize with, at least for me (Which says a lot considering I had no problems with feeling for Tezzeret in Test of Metal). AND when I finally thought she was getting better towards the end of her novel, she blew the whole place up as usual. She could've let the Order believe their ritual had worked and release her, but NO, she simply had to destroy everything, almost killing Gideon in the process (a.k.a. the guy who saved her). I guess if they wanted to kill or torture her as you've mentioned it would be slightly more acceptable, but they only wanted to constrict her power over fire to make sure she doesn't harm any more innocent people (at least that was the official reasoning, maybe Walbert had some personal/political side motives). Not only was such punishment fully deserved considering her constant misuse of her powers, I daresay it was too light.
To be honest I partly agree with this, I like her as a character though. IMO, She is kinda chaotic/neutral rogue in a sense.
Interesting story. I like the lore of St. Traft even though I hate his overpowered avatar BTW, this Nadia is her?
Anyway, I would like to read more. Keep it up!
Good news.
But I'm worried about whether WotC sell the e-book to the worldwide. Usually, Amazon Kindle Shop(or any sellers) don't sell Magic e-books to us who live in the Asia-Pacific Area...
BTW, sadly, I bumped into my MtG fan art that is attached "digital altered" foil card on Tumblr. This art stolen from deviantART or Pixiv, I assumed.
I was upset very much because the owner got this "altered card" by trade.
Then, I found many "Altered Print" cards on ebay, some attached my friends' MTG fanart without permission.
Honesty, I was disappointed at people's worse side in fandom for a while...even I would like to see ppl's good side.
Wow, interesting start of story arcs. I can't wait for the next
Jace's old friend appearance is glad for me. I like Emmara, and your description expresses her grace and a bit eccentric character well.
And two big canon characters from AoA...? Oh, I imagine Jace's ex and former mentor as their presence is hinted many times...
(At least, I have no option because, sadly, his best friend was die...)
And it's interesting how Ajani appears. He is a great warrior and is a kind man...cat...? It's a spectacle how Rana stands face to face against him.

Same here, I'm also one of those who REALLY love it.
There is no accounting for tastes, that's all

Tamiyo is not "Sugoi Kawaii" name in current Japan. It's sounds...a bit old school
