I really wanna just hang out with you in real life, CC.
    Back at ya buddy. Grin

Although of all the people on this site that I'd want to meet, Puzzle might be number one. I'd like to meet the man behind the cunning plan.

So here's a Memorable Mafia Moment throwback for ya:

In the first Random Mafia, chamber was a cult leader with the unique ability to be able to recruit Mafia members, who would then have both the Mafia and Cult win con. Early in the game, he recruits scumAzrael, who comes up with the dastardly plan of uniting scum groups for an easy win.

Then Az gets killed at night.

Day 3, we run up jcsuperstar, recent cult initiate, who unfortunately decides to be honest about being a cultist, and for some reason names DragynMage as the cult leader, who was part of the Mafia. Feeling betrayed, DM then outs chamber as jc's leader. Chamber, realizing that he can no longer win, outs the rest of the Mafia. What follows is the scum trying to convince power roles to side with them in a desperate attempt to scrape out a win.

On day 3, the scum were one mislynch away from winning the game. Then through sear newbness and vindictiveness, manage to blow they game open in less then 8 hours. The last 4 pages of that game are hilarious. Probably the funniest endgame I've ever been a part of.

@fadeblue: I have no idea. I pop in once every couple years to a chorus of "holy crap, it's Ged" and "who is Ged?". I have fond memories of being up at like 12:30 and so tired I'd act goofy and get temp-banned for "being drunk". This was, of course, about 3 years before my first alcoholic drink. Now when I show up I'm inevitably ****faced (or as we like to say in these parts, "CropCircled") and no one ever calls me on it. Funny how that works.

Everyone remember when CropCircles came back for 5 minutes, everyone got excited, then he left without a word?
Yeah, I tend to do that from time to time.

I think after this attempt, I'll finally be saying a real farwell to Mafia. Every time I try to get back into it, it proves to be too time consuming, I fall behind and end up getting replaced. And I feel bad because I know how much it sucks having to replace players. I really miss this game, but it seems it's just not in the cards.

Mayhap I'll remember to stop by here now again for a drunk post or two, for old time's sake. Link

I think we need to direct Drey's kill. If he is scum with an extra shot, he'll just use it to kill a townie, and then come back tomorrow saying that he thought they were scum. If the town agrees on a target for him, it will insure that his shot is directed by the town.

Reading Drey's most recent response along with zindabad's analysis is making me reconsider things. Drey isn't my fav, but that looks like pretty genuine analysis of Caex.

I hate the idea of lynching a claimed cop without trying to get some use out of him, but at this point, I think knowing his alignment will be the more useful info to have now, rather than waiting for potential investigations that we won't even be able to trust until he flips.

Ultimately, he is the scummier of the two. I'd rather just get it done then have it possibly still hanging over our head in the morning.

    Unvote, Vote Caex

It's also of note that in this post Caex has expressed suspicion on 6 players(me, Zion, Che, Well, Xyre, Star), and zero town reads. Remember this post when Caex flips scum.
For a moment, I thought you had a point, until I looked back at the post in question and saw that this was a blatant misrep. He discusses six players, but a couple of them were suspects he was backing off of. If anything, I found that post to be a point in Caex's favor.

In addition, your claim that it is "impossible" for Xyre to be town is simply untrue, and using words like "impossible" sounds like you're creating a false dilemma, trying to make it seem like he must be scum, when that just isn't the case.

Throwing suspicion on your attackers, misrepresenting them, and not claiming when you are L-2? I'd vote, but I want that claim first please.

Given that he has claimed to unblockable, Caex is too much of a potential detriment to the mafia. We won't be able to trust any of his results until he flips, but at that point, it could be invaluable. For that reason, if he is town, the mafia would have to be daft not to take him out sooner rather than later. The longer they wait, the worse it becomes when he does flip town. If he is scum, he's going down one way or the other.

    Quote from caex »
To address your "let's vig Caex" post: I wonder if we shouldn't be calling out vig targets. If the scum know I'm going to be vigged, they can NK someone more townie. I think the vig should shoot someone else and force the scum to spend their kill on me. Because they pretty much have to unless they want me to get an investigation off. If I'm somehow alive tomorrow, I'll have a result. You can then lynch me to confirm my result and go from there.
This is a good point. If he is town, and we call the vig, the scum basically get a double kill tonight. If he is scum, with what he's claimed, he can't survive until the end. No reason to blow our load to early.

I find myself liking WoLG's analysis here. I also don't like how Drey flips from "no one counter claim" to "okay, now it's cool." What's changed?

Unvote Caex for the moment, because I want to make sure I have time to go back and reread his posts before a lynch happens, but i would like to hear that passive ability. At work now, substainial post to follow.

CC - what's your opinion of the things I pointed to in 125?
The third person thing I think is valid, but it's a small tell in general, and I tend to find Zionite's phrasing a little weird anyway. Other then that, it seems like you are seeing what you want to see.

Not even the bit about a third vote from kpaca? I thought that part was pretty telling, myself.
I mean, he specifically stated that he was looking specifically at his wagon. While it may ultimately be a narrow approach, it isn't hard to understand why someone would notice the votes on themselves while paying less attention to votes on other people.

It's also different because kpaca was the only serious vote when he voted for drey, meaning he was the first to apply real pressure, while people were actually starting to apply real pressure to Zionite when voted.

    Huh. Why not.

    /in

    In 1 game.

You know how long I've been playing - my join date is the same date as the beginning of my mafia career here.

Favourite game?... If it's the ones I've been in, I'd say Inheritance, followed by Hecatea, followed by original Amistaria.

Ones I haven't been in, I'd have to say Hats, followed by Cyberpunk.

Oh, and you guys have no style in your sign-up thread lynching. It has to go like this:

I wish I could play in this, but the Hobbit is on like page 4 and I'm already falling behind. What is spectating? I don't remember that from the good ol' days, can I do that?

The third person thing I think is valid, but it's a small tell in general, and I tend to find Zionite's phrasing a little weird anyway. Other then that, it seems like you are seeing what you want to see.

Example: the point where you try to say that he should have said "no idea" as opposed to "no reason to call him scum at this juncture." How you interpret that as him setting himself up for anything is beyond me, and the whole post seems slanted in that way.

Trying to connect him with Drey as scum doesn't help. It's far too early to be trying to make connections between players on that level.

You've got my attention with your case on Zionite, though. I'd be willing to vote Zionite or Stardust, along with Xyre obviously.
So far, this stuck out to me the most. On top of his own personal target (Xyre), he lists the current wagon as well as Stardust, who is reading newb to me more than anything else, without even giving a reason for the suspicion for the last one. This looks like he's testing the waters more than hunting scum.

Vote Caex Kothar on that note.
So you're voting me because I said I would be willing to vote Stardust without giving a reason. But at the same time you say kpaca is town when he did pretty much the exact same thing.
It's not just that you named him without giving a reason, it's the way you threw it in with the others and didn't mention him before that.

What's the difference between kpaca "pushing for reactions" and me "testing the waters"? And what, exactly, makes you think I wasn't looking for a reaction from Stardust?
When kpaca has shown suspicion, he has called attention to it. He didn't plant it in a spreadshot list. If you want to push for reactions, you push. If you're testing the waters, you drop the name in more casually.

    Okay, initial impressions.

The Xyre/Zionite back and forth feels like a dead end. I think Xyre is relying far too heavily on meta and establishing connections before we even have a scum corpse to go off of. Far too flimsy for the conviction behind this wagon, imo, or for the call for a claim. Not reading scum vibes from his approach, but I doubt this will bear fruit, and the extent of the back and forth just makes it hard to follow.

I like Drey and kpaca for town. Active scum hunting, pushing for reactions, etc. Same general vibe from Che, but to a lesser extent for sure.

Also, Stardust: how many games have you played before?

Apologies for the absence, it's been a long couple of days. I almost got caught up, until I got to...that. That right up there. Holy tl;dr man, I just worked a 14 hour shift, and it's time for bed. I'll finish reading and make a real post in the morning.

Also Unvote zionite, FTR it was a joke. It's been years since I've played and I wasn't about to miss RVS. Smile

Vote Zionite for preemptively trying to end RVS, which i'm assuming stands for Rectal Virus Syndacation.
