Card advantage and card quality are two separate concepts. Looting is a "pseudo card advantage", in that its definitely not card advantage to have cards in your bin, but with the presence of recursion, its kind of like it, and definitely a positive. Gaining a token creature on the other hand is definitely card advantage, a token counts for board state, but how valuable that token is can vary wildly. A sprouting thrinax is only technically a "+3 card advantage", because 1/1 tokens are so pitiful they're not nearly as valuable as normal cards. But they can still be sacrificed or enchanted or counted for various effects.
A 3/2 creature is strong enough to be considered full blown card advantage. Its strong enough to impact the board state and be a serious threat, requiring spot removal or a trade in combat, in addition to being fuel for sac outlets or enchanted or equipped or whatever like a lowly goat token could.
So to some extent its subjective. But whats pretty definite about this card is that its a cost card that develops your board state by a huge deal. Looting and damage like looter il-kor is strong enough on its own by developing your graveyard resource, then it develops your board by giving you very relevant aggro walls, self comboing and comboing with other cards and being possible to trigger multiple times per turn. If anything, its biggest restriction is the creature-type clause because modern blue decks might be light enough on creatures to either whiff or not want to bin them, meaning it plays better in standard with recurring threats like zombies. And its not just good with baby jace, its actually pretty competent looking compared to baby jace. Not many cards can make that claim. I'm comfortable calling this guy a shoe-in for constructed, but can't gauge how much impact it will have until I see the archetypes.

Be prepared for Vivids, lots of Vivids, then stuff like Mirrodin's Core, Rupture Spire/Transguild Promenade, Command Tower, Commander's Sphere, some tri-lands, and things like that. After that I can only hope for Reflecting Pool/Chromatic Lantern/Coalition Relic in as many as possible, and I would like Grand Coliseum in here as we haven't seen it printed since Onslaught. Exotic Orchard wouldn't be terrible playing outside the box with others the day of release. -

ImpalerShrike posted a message on Commander 2016 4 Colour CommandersBeing a bit of a completionist, this makes me very happy. I already had a deck for every other color / combination (except w/r) and the 4c gap kept chewing on the ol' ocd nerve. Hoping conspiracy 2 fixes the w/r problem and then i will be sane. I can't possibly be alone in feeling this wayPosted in: The Rumor Mill -

Serafiend posted a message on Corrupted TombstoneI feel really bad for the folks who had the "honor" of previewing this abomination of a mana rock. Oh, btw flavortext reads: everythings that isn't a creature is too strong for standard, so please jump through a hoop so your rarity-creeped uncommon does something.Posted in: The Rumor Mill
Whose tombstone this is? I assume it's where wotc buried their dignity after thinking this card is an acceptable rare. -

Olivia seems pretty awesome, go go RB aggro!!!
EDIT: Gotta say though, now that I see her entire outfit, not really a fan. It doesn't even show off her <snip>. -

I would tend to disagree entirely, drawing creatures and lands is very UG, as is fighting with octopi. Hopefully she's real she looks great. Ob looks great for black control, if a bit generic.

Are you insane? they would never print a UB 3/3 with deathtouch and ingest and that ability it would be absurdly overpowered. I don't know if you noticed but they don't print creatures that efficient outside of white and green, let alone in blue. They thought delver sucked, so don't try that argument. Same with 2/2 and adding flying. Maybe a 2/2 or a 1/3 and those abilities I agree would have been fine, but 3/3? No way
Overall I think its not going to go anywhere, but I want to be wrong, I like it. Just don't think it's quite good enough at 1/1. And it's rare for a couple reasons, keeping deathtouch out of a battle cruiser format and complexity according to NWO.

I'd also like to point out, it's not a "cast from the graveyard card," it's a "return from the graveyard to the battlefield" card. And morph is instant speed and doesn't use the stack, so this is an instant ability too (although this I would assume does use the stack, its a triggered ability). With deathtouch. Not sure if it's viable or not, but I'd give it a shot in Mono-Green with Whisperwood Elemental.
