I don't know if any girls have weighed in on this card yet, but while much Magic art is geared toward guys, let me just say this guy is hot. Long hair, broad shoulders, wide chest? He's getting a slot in my Lyzolda deck. Smile He'll be a great boy-toy for her!

    This comment made me happy.

Aside from that it's a mediocre card, comparisons to Zealous Conscripts are sadly mistaken, 1 more gets you any permanent as opposed to a small creature, 1 more toughness, and haste on the body (rarity aside, that makes no difference in constructed).

This is an entirely pointless topic, it makes no difference to pretty much anything. I'm kind of surprised the mods haven't shut it down, I would have. If you're looking through every green creature in history you're doing something wrong to begin with. They almost certainly do this in almost every single set, and if you're looking for only exciting cards, you're going to be disappointed with every set they ever create so you might as well quit now.

Maybe Wizards just forgot that Rib Cage Spider exists. I sure did.

Also this lol. Its a filler spider, it fills a specific gap for limited. Name and number crunch argument someone posted stands too. Basically they have plenty of reasons to do it and 99.9% of players couldn't care less that they do anyways.

Roar of Challenge sloves that problem for one turn, and is just far too situational. It just straight up isn't viable. Lure cards pretty much never have been. Frost Walker is t too reliable for triggering Stubborn Denial, since 2/3s of the time you will want to counter removal which hits Frosty even if countered. Frosty is a great card, but relying on them mb too much makes you far too weak to certain archtypes.

Novajoe- thank you. Exemplars was one of the main reasons to build this- and Monastery Mentor is pretty much just hands down inferior given the presence of cards like Wild Slash all over the mirror but they all want to play that instead. Exemplars wins the game on its own in many different situations for different reasons. Mentor is really linear in a deck that's not supplementing what it does outside of triggering prowess (no other cards that help to go wide). Exemplars is like a way better Ghost Dad, and that card owned its T2.

Agreed, roar of challenge is terrible, it is in no way competitive quality. Frost Walker isn't the worst, but it trades with tokens and satyr wayfinders, which is a major reason most people aren't playing them.

Exemplars however, is incredible, although I think i'd rather see it in a prowess and spell-heavy deck than anything else.

I guess there's a couple ways to go with it, leaning towards aggro with Fleecemane Lion, Seeker of the Way and recursion from Ojutai's Command, plus a selection of good three drops and exemplars at the top of the curve, with removal and other non-creatures to trigger seeker and exemplars, I'd probably run 4 Dromoka's Command and 2-3 Ojutai's Command in this.

Or you could go a more controlling route, with fewer creatures and Exemplars as a finisher.

Chained to the rocks hits a few odd things roast doesn't, fliers here and there, plus the odd indestructible creature. 2 or 3 seems about right. I would still probably run a more burn oriented list, but thats just me. Plus stoke the flames is great with hordeling outburst. I wish we had enemy fetches that would be great, but alas it was not to be. I'm also not 100% on the orator of ojutai, if we can regularly draw a card it's definitely worth it, but without its kinda meh. Not sure what i'd replace it with though. Ire shaman could be fun.

I wish we had like maybe 2 more dragons to play. As much as I don't wanna complain about lack of low cmc dragons because i totally agree with their reasoning, but it would be super convenient if we had a 3 cmc dragon to throw a couple in. It would have been fun to have a 3 cmc dragon for Kolaghan. They could even have used Blitzbolter for the name

    Like 1RR Small Dragon
    Creature - Dragon (R)
    Flying, Haste
Whenever ~ deals damage, it deals 1 damage to you
3/2 (I'd say 4/2 but that's pushing it a lot, thats just a pipe dream)

Cool deck idea. I don't really like Hordeling Outburst in this build though. Maybe Goblin Rabblemaster instead? Also, with 10 Mountains Chained to the Rocks seems worthy of a spot.

I agree, Goblin Rabblemaster seems like a good swap for the Hordeling Outbursts. I might also consider adding a few Stoke the Flames for some extra burn in place of Dragon Whisperer. Works better with Soulfire and works pretty well with Rabblemaster. Some amount of Chained to the Rocks seems correct as well, although I'm not sure what to replace for them.

    Perhaps a list like

How is everyone feeling about a Warrior Tribal after this set. At this point BW Warriors has 3 2 power 1 drops (Mardu Woe-Reaper, Bloodsoaked Champion, and Dragon Hunter, as well as a pseudo-#4 in Mardu Shadowspear), and a bunch of other new cards, Arashin Foremost, Herald of Dromoka, Secure the Wastes, Blood-Chin Fanatic, Blood-Chin Rager. There's no shortage of good warriors right now, I could see the conflict being Wb vs. Bw, but it's looking interesting to me.

I think a lot of people are forgetting that this block was designed for limited first and foremost, the whole storyline was written so that WOTC could experiment with having a block where the first and second set would be drafted together and the second and third set would be drafted together. Yes they also wanted to make a dragon tribal set and a wedge set, but the dragon and wedge themes would NOT have happened if either of them didn't fit the draft structure.

No they already experimented with Big-small-Big, it was the Innistrad block and overall the drafting was pretty bad in the last middle-last set.

They ONLY did Big-Small-Big for the changing timeline story gimmick. The problem is that where in the first set, you had clearly defined clans and lots of clan flavor; in this set you just have a lot of big dragons and filler. The dragon's "clans" are not very well-represented and this makes the set feel awkward and half-done.

This wasn't an experiment with big-small-big, it was an experiment with having first and last sets that were never drafted together, thereby requiring big-small-big. The entire reason for it was the draft setup. They decided that time travel fit that scheme well. IDK where you got your information from but it's wrong. You totally ignored what he said and told him he was wrong. That said, I do agree with your second point to a degree, but we haven't seen the whole set yet, let alone all the URs and the whole storyline.

Lets not forget that they'll introduce new walkers. Nissa, Gideon, Chandra, and Jace are in Origins while Sarkhan and Ugin are in KTK block. I doubt they would put all of them to print again so quickly. We know Gideon is out looking for help and Kiora is gathering large minions. Nahiri could be possible but don't forget that Ob Nixilis is still lurking about on Zendikar trying to do dastardly things to get his spark back.

Congratulations of your excellent use of dastardly, I love it. I wouldn't be surprised if we got a current version of Nihiri and maybe Ob Nixilis and Kiora, not sure about those of them that are in Origins or KTK block. Its unfortunate that Kiora didn't get printed in ZEN she works so well with landfall. I hope landfall is back. Maybe a new walker or two.

I really hope they introduce colorless basic lands on Zendikar. Maybe Eldrazi-flavored (but generic enough to facilitate reprints). That and Landfall and enemy manlands are my wish list.
Maybe the Eldrazi are responsible for the colorless lands. Could be Ugin attempting to heal Zendikar that creates it. It's very interesting design space and I'm eager to see how they do it, mechanically and flavor-wise.

Ok, so new Sarkhan? For my Intet, the Dreamer deck. Awesome dragon punch. DF Planeswalkers are gonna be insane, especially in commander.

Now, Battle for Zendikar. I don't understand the hype.

Sure, we're getting new Eldrazi, enemy Fetches, and new Landfall cards. But that's all I see about Zendikar that peaks interest. Can someone explain why they like Zendikar so much?

Personally, as a lover of the outdoors and Indiana Jones movies, Zendikar is one of my favorite settings/themes (adventure). I think my two favorite planes are Tarkir and Zendikar, with Mirrodin as a close third. Also I loved landfall as a mechanic, and I'd love to see more of it. Eldrazi probably means some colorless fun, along with maybe Ugin. Fetches are great, not particularly exciting to me though. I love the manlands from Zendikar, both mechanically and from a flavor perspective.

On a different topic, I think Ojutai is fantastic, Sarkhan is very good, time will tell what kind of shell he goes in. Superfriends might be fun. DFC walkers were actually not too much of a surprise, curious about other DFCs in the set.

I'd also like to point out, it's not a "cast from the graveyard card," it's a "return from the graveyard to the battlefield" card. And morph is instant speed and doesn't use the stack, so this is an instant ability too (although this I would assume does use the stack, its a triggered ability). With deathtouch. Not sure if it's viable or not, but I'd give it a shot in Mono-Green with Whisperwood Elemental.

This looks fun, works well with delve too. It would be interesting if there was a semi-viable zombie deck in standard, however unlikely.
