    "unfun"
    "no go in commander"

Depends a lot on your group I guess. Mature groups don't care, and becide, we often NEED someone to slow all that ramp, stop the combo from going off, etc.

Is there a reason for backhanded insults? Someone isn't mature if he finds a certain way of boardgames unfun? Do you think this is in any form of fashion helpful to get a discussion going?

Land denial is usually either useless or oppressive. Either it tries to stop a whole table and fails, so it did nothing but trying to hinder everyone to play - or it succeeds and the game is over immediatly. And i usually wintenessed these things happening before turn 6 in really strong decks.
Personally i do not like these kind of decks at a table either, because they usually just die first and then sit there for up an hour doing nothing. Because nobody is going to just tolerate the timebomb tickin'. Same with storm combo decks or other infinite combo shenaningans. People just pile onto them until they're gone.

And stopping ramp and combos can be done without relying on MLD, which is a mechanic designed to stop all other people on the table from playin' magic. There's also nothing to it, if your group like to play with these decks, but don't try to be the funpolice and be disrespectful because people don't share your opinion.

Alright then guess I'll tone down a bit.
Usually what happens from the games I play is that a card like Pox usually saves us from some UR guy, or Azusa needs to be slowed down a bit, or even very cheap and efficiant removal are needed to stop an hermit druid player from going off. In all cases, I guess the average EDH deck encountered is fully synergetic and dangerous.

Even the most recent guy basically took the best scion of the ur-dragon list and got everything ready. Now Scion can't attack you twice or you're dead, so LD is once again needed to keep him at bay.

Sorry if my other comment was a little too abrupt, I'm just easily triggered when it comes to "this shouldn't be played in X format because it's unfun".

Land destruction, denial and punishment effects.

Amen to that. Hopefully we'll get some so I can build a proper BRW stax deck for "cheap"

As for Modern Masters, you mock me, but it is no coincidence that the set whose very name breaks the fourth wall of the game is also the set that had card quality issues.

Sorry for jumping in but I almost chocked on my lunch while reading this.
Breaking the 4th wall of magic because of a set name... what the hell.

That's not WR, and that's also unfun, more so than land denial, both are a no go in commander.

If the RW deck is supposed to be a giant themed deck. What are the chances then of the WB deck being a knight themed deck? I mean are we finally going to see a WB version of Haakon that you can cast? That would be uber sweet.

I sure hope these wont all be tribal/theme decks.

If so, I'm just hoping that the BG is a gorgon deck. Will probably not touch the others.

The event deck does not have full-art lands. I got 4 of them and they all have the regular half-frame lands.

You absolute madman why did you even get these?

I wouldnt say that's not an issue. I did play HS for a good year and a half and during that time I played no magic games at all.

Then I got bored and now I'm returning to magic. I'm probably not alone with a patern liek this (granted I never play at the card store).

Just wanted to come by and say thank you for this primer.
I run one with Xiahou Dun, the one-eyed and it's great.

It doesn't work that way. Magic the Gathering has NO other competition. There isn't a card game in existence that even touches it, so I'll continue to play until it goes off the deep end....or something of that nature.

What, are you telling me you only know about magic? What about other games like Netrunner, Yugioh, Hearthstone.
Honestly, anyone who doesn't like turning creatures sideways should try netrunner, it's really fun and well done and cheap to play. with the current way wizard is going with magic I see mroe people leave for other such game. Even Hearthstone, who is a VERY simplified magic can be "fun" (if you can stomatch the ridiculous RNG, I coudl for a while).

I don't know for you but I see myself abandonning magic if they keep tonight everything down. My stax decks, LD, control, etc. get less and less cards every sets.

I'd like to see an Orzhov Stax General. When X happens each player sacrifices (or chooses and exiles) Y. Kinda like Braids, Cabal Minion but slightly different somehow.
They are not going to promote Stax as an archetype in a Commander product. Too anti-social

Damn modern wizard not giving us any candy.

No, every deck should be running removal that costs less than four.

Exacly this, how can he be oppressive? Maybe in a prison style deck with other things shutting down spells and what not.
and even then... I mean, I like to play vs Zur and other general that easily mess with the ability to do things (I run a stax deck myself so there's that).

Depends on how you see the game really. I've been playing since 1999 but I play mostly at home with my wife/friends, and the frequency depends a lot (could not play for a month, then play every weekend, then a 2-3 month break, etc.)

I never really lost interest in the game, sometime I go to a prerelease, sometime I play EDH a couple of time in a week (during vacation or what not). I never want to sell my cards, I even see myself doing family cubing soon enough.

No matter how much WotC underestimated demand, they could at least made a press release about it and promised a second wave of Fat packs, so everyone has the opportunity to buy them at MRSP.

you're implying here that they WILL do that (second wave).
    I don't think so.

I'm in love with the Future Sight frames particularly on lands. River of Tears
(Then, I do love the look of Netrunner's cards...)
I wish we had some current frame with the old artifact background, those still ook pretty great.
