"Whenever Exalted Angel deals damage, you gain that much life." (Exalted Angel)
and
"Damage dealt by the creature also causes its controller to gain that much life." (lifelink)

The most important difference is that Exalted Angel gives you life AFTER you take damage, while lifelink gives you life AS you take damage. So if you are at 3, and your opponent attacks you with 4 1/1s, with Exalted Angel you can block one, but you die waiting for your life, whereas if she had lifelink you would survive.
As Blair Phoenix mentioned, since it is not lifelink, you can give her lifelink also, which is nice, but the abilities are not the same.

I like the choices for cards here, but the art for Exalted Angel seems very questionable to me. I guess the veil is supposed to be the morphing? I just really feel like it's a miss in terms of art direction (nothing wrong with the piece alone, but it's not Exalted Angel to me). Entreat the Angels is a good solid angel spell, and none of the choices are "lame".

Then further descriptions of what sets the cards may come from do not mean that the cards might not be in the cube, they mean that those are the cards in the cube that might be in the prize packs.

Have you thought about Dark Confidant? In addition, Might of Alara would replace Ghor-Clan Rampager pretty effectively a fair amount of the time, especially with a black splash.

15 new cards in each precon, 55 total, means that there are a total of 20 overlaps. Overlaps have to either be mono-color or lands.

In addition, because it says "whenever you draw a card", if you have a card like Divination, which causes you to draw cards, Lorescale Coatl will also get +1/+1 counters from that.

I played with Shadows of the Past at the prerelease, never activated the ability, but the scry was fantastic. YMMV.

I kind of want Firemane Angel in this set. I played with her in standard back in the day.

Decree of Justice was really a soldier card, and Entreat the Angels still sees some play. I think Entreat has to be the pick over Decree.

He's more expensive than Birds of Paradise, and not as generally useful, so I didn't feel comfortable suggesting him.
