Well, you could make it blue right?

After 2-2 ing my most recent FNM, I figured a couple of changes were in order. Metamorph is the best 4 drop in the deck. Spellskite is 100% a star, out of the board. Everything else seems to work pretty well, with exceptions for 2 things:

    We have very little removal.

    We have very little control.

I had to Mindslaver my opponent in my first match to cast HIS day of judgment so I wouldn't get Puresteel Paladin'ed to death. I also managed to Splinter twin my Wurmcoil Engine and a Treasure Mage thanks to Mindslaver.

But, I'm working on a rebuild that has at least a few into the roils. 3 might be the target number. And at least 2 hard counters.

i JUST woke up and was like: "oh F&%k you CAN, because it´s and artifact!!"
    sweeeeet haha. My bad

We do in fact have too llittle removal. In my case, i´m running 2 contagion engine, not the best removal, mainly cause we don´t run infect (except for the nexus) but if we get the chalice and thrumming bird/nexus online with an already poisoned opponent, it´s pretty much over. And triskelion as a hawk/goblin/myr etc etc killer. I think trisk is pretty nice, may EVENTUALLY remove it. I was gonna play 2 but it´s probably the worst fatty of all. I still don´t have him so i can´t say much, but, not really sure it would be too threatning to play this guy t3.

And i´ve been thinking that tumble magnet is good but not sure if we can rely on it that much.
As soon as my cards arrive and i get to play my first FNM i´ll give you guys the details!

I have started to love the chalice for it´s epicness. And i feel so sad we´ll be losing it :(. What are the chances of a reprint again? Sphere of the suns is disgusting compared to that beast.

I´ve already done tons of stuff with the mindslaver, played a dude just to gftt it or lighning bolt everything he had. It was nice

so, you think the one drops should be removed for some sort of counterspell, removal or maybe little jace?

i think i was wrong. You can´t copy the abyssal persecutor and make it a 7/7 because it isn´t blue(uh duh), but it still can´t be go for the throated.
I actually can´t wait to play one of these in a prototype portal, or copying a batterskull or sword... way to go!

There's always Shimmer Myr... but it only affects artifacts. Personally, I'm not a big fan of Mimic Vat in this deck, but that's just me. I tested Trinket/Elixir and didn't find it as useful as I thought it would be BUT if you can get a Elixir on a Prototype Portal that can do some serious damage.

Archangel might be a decent sideboard card in a U/W build, but it's not always easy to get metalcraft or WW.

Tezzeret's Gambit is very very useful especially if you run a prolif heavy build.

    I´ll try it out.
By the way... phyrexian metamorph... TOTAL BOMB. I currently don´t have any, and am thinking of playing 2 (or even 3). I´m sooo glad this card is an artifact. It´s almost strictly better than clone, and just 2 lives apart from sculping steel. I love the fact that it copies whatever dude they have (i´m looking at you abyssal persecutor...) and if you just happen to have the architect... it gets +1/+1 so they cant even attack AND it can´t get go for the throated.
Does it tap for 2? (cause it´s blue isn´t it?) That would be nice. Copy artifact AND be a sol ring at the same time...wait, is that right? it´s either an artifact or an artifact creature...
Regardless, i cannot believe i doubted this card.It stops big guys, almost like a barrier for 3 mana. INSANE

I feel like twisted image could be a major threat... SPELLSKITE DIES!! Splinter twin players better not start to play this card... spellskite is like the only answer i have!

Hey guys, have been "testing" this deck for a while (still not complete though) and i really miss "flash" effects on the cards. But i guess that leyline of anticipation/cryptologist or even leyline/preordain is pretty out of the question...
I´ve been getting pretty scared at the mimic vat decks lately. I do have the phyrexian revoker, but it gets bolted or doom bladed or galvanic blasted or whatever. And the tumble magnet only gets one of the two activations, i´d have to have two out.
I might just take a mimic vat take on the deck. Running less fatties and mages (supposing that it is a good take on the deck) and putting in a trinket mage/elexir loop with the vat, i think it has been discussed.
Also, what are your thoughts on Indomitable archangel for B/W with venser? It could act as a beater, and protects your dudes (expecting sideboard artifact hate). Remember that you could just transform the nexus into artifact if you dont have metalcraft
    Is tezzerets gambit good?
i HATE sorcery speed draw cards, i HATE THEM. I think i would prefer steady progress.

To be honest, if I were to create U/W Architect, I would almost certainly take it in the direction of Caw-Blade. I think being able to run a complete tutor package with Treasure Mage, and Stoneforge Mystic while bouncing with Venser would be ridiculous. You don't even necessiarily need Hawks if you play Thrummingbird which would also allow you to keep a proliferate/infect package as well.

I might try and put this together once the Event decks with Stoneforge come out so people can get a better grip on what I'm rambling about.

I just think it would really quite well because even if you draw into an equipment without Mystic, you could still drop it with Architect or if you just have weenies and Mystic you can get those down pretty quick. Also, don't forget the ridiculousness of a 10/10 Battleskull equipped Wurmcoil made unblockable by Venser.

Money money money. Ugh, I wish I had more cards.

    Edit:

Here's my new test list, tell me what you think.

Basically, tutor for what you need, play it with Stoneforge, equip with Architect... then do it all again with Venser. If you draw into stuff, just use Architect, fatties too! Venser also makes stuff unblockable such as giant Wurmcoils or Inkmoths. You also have the option to Contagion Engine and/or Spine of Ish Sah... both of which have great synergy with Venser.

Yep. No doubt about it. That´s insane
Now, not only do you have the treasure mage/architect/fatty and the infect going, but you´ve also got the tutors for equipments AND the venser interaction... i think this a is pretty awesome deck! (i´m too broke right now to even consider these cards... but it´s a really nice deck)

    Welcome!

    That deck looks pretty good!

Most people run 3 Treasure Mages because usually it will become a dead draw at some point in the game. If you run a bigger toolbox then a 4 would make sense.

Phyrexian Metamorph is must include! I run 3, but people run between 2-4.

Most sideboards (including mine) don't include a Trinket Mage package just because there are so few cards that it usefully tutors.

Spine/Core interaction is fun, but adding even more colorless mana sources is not what we want to do. This would also create a necessity for 4 Treasure Mage as well as having to run 2 Spines in case one gets countered. Could use some testing though!
    --------

Although Chalice is going to be a hard loss, we might get a similar reprint in M12 and as you mentioned we have Sphere of Sun's which is still useful. We also have Caged Sun.

    Thanks for the reply! Grin
    you´re probably right about...well...everything.
If i recall correctly, you expected that NPH was going to bring an awesome one drop and would be really dissapointed if it didn´t, and unfortunatly it didn´t Frown (that sucks... couse the "center" of the deck, is about big artifacts and as a subtheme: Proliferate, and it´s a block thing, the most we can hope for, are good artifacts and a one drop for future sets)

Regarding the treasure mage, i really have a hard time believing it will be a dead draw (nevertheless, the fact that people in this thread have put 3 in, has made me consider 3, but i do like 4)

Yes... trinket mage is just not that efficient (that sucks so much), and how does this deck get around other pesky permanents? i played today with deck but without the architects or fatties, and found that imprinting spine in portal is nice, the thrumming bird is just too fragile (there is obviously NO substitute, but i hated it when they just galvanic blasted it or whatever).

Also, i have been having a hard time with the abyssal persecutor/wurmcoil engine/Grave titan/Mimic vat stuff... can i rely on the tumble magnet that much?

    what do you think =/

    Hi guys!
I´m a casual mtg player who´s has gotten totally pissed at the fact that no one in my local store likes legacy (i will never give up trying to play with venser and teferi and the likes) , and has been left with no other option than to (sigh) play type 2...
sooooo, here i am, and feel like U architect could be fun. I´ve been reading all of the pages of this thread many times.
This is what i´ve come up with for now:

    4 kraken hatchling
    4 Grand Architect
    4 Thrummingbird
    4 Treasure Mage
    1 Wurmcoil Engine
    1 Myr Battlesphere
    1 Triskelion
    1 steel hellkite

    4 Everflowing Chalice
    1 Mindslaver
    2 Contagion Engine
    4 Preordain
    4 Tumble Magnet
    1 prototype portal

    4 Inkmoth Nexus
    2 Mystifying Maze
    16 Island

i still need the nexus though and the deck is actually 58 cards. Two islands were taken out (no idea why)

    Ok so,
PROTOTYPE PORTAL- I think this is pretty nice, yeah i know it´s a dead card late game, but there were actually some nice interactions with mimic vat or even the metamorph (even though i´m playing with neither of them )
TUMBLE MAGENT- ABSOLUTE must! 4of all the way, couse outside that, there just isn´t much we can do about creatures (excluding the metamorph)
TRISKELION- The deck was originally made up of 2 trisks, the wurmcoil and hellkite (it´s pretty nice with proliferate but a bit slow though, and can not be left without a counter on it) , but i thought it would just be fun with a toolbox of fatties (decreases the chaces of having a specific card, but makes it quite fun).
Meta is loaded with kuldotha and caw. Also some random strange decks, as well as what looked like splinter twin combo.

    SOOO many questions:

Why are some people only playing 3 treasure mages? =/

From what i´ve heard, the metamorph is good (i´ll get some as soon as i can)

the sideboard is still under construction (includes spellskites, phyrexian revoker, perilous
    myr and probably trinket/hex toolbox)

I have a spine i of ish sah, and am REALLY interested in the interaction with Phyrexia's Core, think it might be worth trying?

Also, i am EXTREAMLY worried about the rotation of the chalice... it´s just vital! Shpere of the sun´s can´t really compare (it´s the best we have, but pretty worse)

Please, tell me what you guys think, note that it´s my first post, and haven´t even started playing couse i´m still waiting for the cards (i live in frikkin Uruguay at the moment )
