No problem. I had some people ask me to write one so i decided if i was going to do it I was going to do it right.
I figured that not enough people from my meta would be reading this so i decided to go a little more in depth to give you guys exactly how i felt about specific decks and how to make them better, which is how a lot of writers DONT do it. Normally they explain the list and end it at that. I wanted to give you guys my opinion to make them better. You decide if its right or wrong.
thanks for commenting/reading and hope to see more in the future

If we had breeding pool completely different story. I would NOT be advocating GW midrange at all. it would be Bant. But unreliability to cast it is hard.
I can see using Farseek over Arbor elf but then your losing turn 2 geist, and imo the best Farseek deck is Jund (for aggressive ish decks) so your just behind... -
Oct 4, 2012DXI-Edge posted a message on RTR Brewing Part 2!I actually changed the Junk list to GW, as I was noticing some patterns in the Junk list:Posted in: DXI-Edge Blog
1) double white was hard.
2) single black was even harder
3) having both, while it did happen, didn't happen often.
The list relied a lot on going Overgrown tomb into Pilgrim, turn 2 Chapel/Sunpetal.
So I cut out the black, switched Decay to Charm and streamlined the deck and its much more consistent while still having removal. The lack of Sever sucks, but having 3 Charms for trample over lingering souls tokens helps.
I tried Vault over Gavony, but the deck's dorks did literally nothing late game. The deck liked having a mana sink that made your guys bigger, and 90% of the time the list out raves other decks anyway
Duress I'm not sure about
As for a list, GW midrange is powerful, UW Humans is good. Either I would be fine with. I'm working on. 3rd Rampy list right now but that won't be revealed till after provincials
Good luck! -
Sep 25, 2012DXI-Edge posted a message on RTR Brewing Part 2!I haven't found a good Jund Midrange deck to test against yet. I know there is one and i know its good but what it is i dont know yet, so thats why i didnt talk about it much.Posted in: DXI-Edge Blog
However, thank you and i do agree that it is, until breeding pool comes out in which case turn 2 geist could be a thing -
Sep 23, 2012DXI-Edge posted a message on RTR Brewing Part 2!Bonfire is gonna decrease in Popularity due to not being insane vs. Zombies. Its still good, and will see play, but not as much as it does nowPosted in: DXI-Edge Blog
Thragtusk is an important card yes i will admit that
Lingering Souls will also be good but if it gets too good Sever, Detention Sphere will run around the format.
For the entrance to the metagame, my 3 cards WILL be the format. As the metagame evolves, Lingering Souls and Thragtusk will become 2 more pillars -

Please go back up to 22 lands. Im gonna say go up to 23, but with Sign in Blood you MAY be able to afford 22, but 23 is optimal. 20 is WAY too few for a 3 colour deck, and you want 4 on turn 4 for Aristocrat anyway, so please go up to 23.
4 of Rancor, and so many red spells is asking for disaster, You need to slim down on the non-black spells, or move to a more midrange style.
PLAY DREG MANGLER! its insane and is an auto- 4 of in ALL zombie decks from here on out. I'm even playing it in Junk (see next blog post)

Second, not OVERLY. I think Junk midrange will actually be better due to having Green turn 1 more often while having other colours too (Temple Garden, Overgrown Tomb) Most of the good midrange decks I've played play Turn 1 dork to accelerate into the mid game bomb creatures.
The Junk deck I'm trying to build but there are so many variables for it its tough at the moment. however that is where i will be headed next.
Also, if more Rakdos cards are spoiled that are awesome, I'm probably also brewing Grixis Control. i edited that into the Blog.

May 13, 2012DXI-Edge posted a message on AVR First ImpressionsThanks, Lavamancer is actually not better than Vexing Devil. Trust me we've tried. The deck is all about speed and the fact that Vexing Devil can help you to deal 9 damage in a turn is hugePosted in: DXI-Edge Blog

I still think Summer Bloom would have been one of the better bans, but obviously WotC doesnt agree with me and thats ok.
Something this will help with, as with the other banlist announcements, is to help set precedent for similar situations that arise.
So overall, not my favourite announcement but a lesson learned.
4 Ornithopter
4 Vault Skirge
4 Signal Pest
2 Hangarback Walker
4 Arcbound Ravager
3 Steel Overseer
3 Etched Champion
1 Master of Etherium
1 Welding Jar
4 Galvanic Blast
4 Springleaf Drum
4 Cranial Plating
4 Blinkmoth Nexus
4 Inkmoth Nexus
3 Glimmervoid
4 Darksteel Citadel
1 Mountain
1 Dispatch
1 Grafdigger's Cage
1 Relic of Progenitus
2 Thoughtseize
3 Ancient Grudge
2 Spellskite
1 Torpor Orb
2 Whipflare
1 Etched Champion
1 Blood Moon
If you look at the GP winning list, what I did is I cut the Spell Pierce's from the board, removed the spellskites main and put them in the board and added the Hangarbacks.
The card has been stronger than the Spellskite main, as it gives resiliency and its a very good blocker. It makes it scary to attack because you block and get a bunch of Thopters, and since Path is at a low its quite strong.
I havent played it as much as I would like, but I do think it will be strong.
Hangarback walker will help a bit too
"Its very telling that this new bout of impassioned doom-saying is coming from someone who's signature includes a list of their modern decks...and it's empty."
I was meaning this CONSTRUCTIVE comment. Apparently my sarcasm on the word constructive wasnt heard.
Regardless, I'm done.
Maybe scroll down if your going to attack me

And I'm not doomsaying. I have given clear, thought out arguments. I am reinforcing those arguments with statements from WotC themselves.
Affinity is held in check by the fact that every single deck can interact with what its trying to do, and the hate is INSANELY efficient.
While I would agree Affinity is very strong, it is not broken.
I've seen Amulet kill turn 3 after a burn player goes turn 1 Guide turn 2 Eidolon Turn 3 Swiftspear double bolt.
I've seen Amulet kill turn 3 with having their turn 2 bloom being remanded.
No interaction? Bloom can kill turn 2. With interaction? Can still kill turn 3. And even decks good case scenarios still beat them.
I've also seen cards banned for less. If Bloom isnt banned I would be absolutely shocked.
I meant to put Turn 1/Turn 2/Turn 3 kills. My mistake
That was my criteria for a top tier deck. So yes, that criteria classifies a top tier deck. Thank you for reinforcing my point. Please read.
My reasoning for why Bloom should be banned is simple: it breaks the number 1 rule of modern. It can consistently output turn 1/turn 2/turn 3 kills. Summer Bloom is the glue that holds that together. Remove it, and the turn 2/turn 3 deck becomes no more or opens way for FAIR turn 4 decks.
My criteria is as follows:
1) Pro Tour results. It almost won a Pro Tour
2) Many pros playing the deck to good results
3) Highest MWP for the month of June
4) Strong enough that people are playing cards in their sideboard specifically FOR this deck.
The fact that Blood Moon is around the entire format and the deck can still win games regularily, I believe at one point it was the best deck in the format and the reason its not getting any publicity is due to next weeks announcement. I assure you, if summer bloom isnt banned next week, we are going to hear about it.
In my opinion Griselbrand and Summer Bloom need to go, and Sword of the Meek will be unbanned.
"When cards are banned from a format, Wizards investigates whether there is a banned card that, if not banned, might add new decks to competitive play. We look for cards that are unlikely to add power to existing top decks, but instead add new strategies or augment decks that are not currently as successful."
Amulet Bloom is a top-tier deck that can kill on turn 2/3. It WILL be banned. As such, they will look into cards to be Unbanned. This will be at the top of their list.
Lets take a look at what shells Sword of the Meek goes into:
Tron Control
UB/UW/Esper Control
Big Mana decks
Possibly a new Affinity list, but unlikely
With Burn at such a high spot of the metagame, and Control and specifically white at a low point in the meta, and the fact decks have main deck shatters, I believe Sword of the Meek will be unbanned.
